The pore texture of carbon materials obtained from evaporative drying and pyrolysis of resorcinol–formaldehyde aqueous gels is controlled by the initial pH of the precursors solution. In order to produce transition metal-containing carbons with tailored texture, various metallic salts were dissolved in the precursors solution. When necessary, a complexing agent (HEDTA or DTPA) was added to render the metal ions soluble. Ni, Fe and Pd loaded carbon xerogels were synthesized and their pore texture was studied after evaporative drying and after pyrolysis. The carbon texture was also studied with regard to the nature of the metal and the amount of complexing agent. The solubilization of transition metal salts in the resorcinol–formaldehyde aqueous solution does not prevent the texture regulation, even though this texture control is influenced: the limits of the pH interval leading to micro–mesoporous carbon materials can slightly differ when a metal salt and/or a complexing agent are added. The pH range shift depends mainly on the amount and nature of the complexing agent, but also slightly on the nature of the metal ion. Nevertheless, the metal particles obtained are rather big (diameter > 15 nm). For catalytic applications, the metal dispersion must be enhanced, especially in the case of expensive metals.  相似文献

Laboratory and field investigations were carried out to characterize the chemical communication system of the date palm fruit stalk borer, Oryctes elegans, and to develop pheromone-based trapping in Eastern Iran. Adults of both sexes feeding on date palm pieces attracted conspecifics, whereas date palm alone was minimally attractive. Males were twice as attractive as females. More beetles were captured at the palm crown than at ground level. Odors from adults feeding on sugarcane were sampled and analyzed by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. Whereas females did not emit sex specific volatiles, males emitted a blend of 4-methyloctanoic acid (1: major component) and ethyl 4-methyloctanoate (2), occasionally mixed with minor components: 4-methyloctanyl acetate (3), methyl 4-methyloctanoate (4), 4-methyloctanol (5), and nonanyl acetate (6). Electroantennography and field trapping experiments demonstrated that compound 1 is an essential component of the male aggregation pheromone of O. elegans. It was barely attractive by itself but synergistic with fresh date palm odor. It attracted many more beetles than any of compounds 2-6. The addition of one or several of compounds 2-6 to 1 did not improve trap captures. During the course of 2 years, we captured 4000 beetles, with a weekly average of 6.3 beetles/trap, and were able to monitor the seasonal flight of O. elegans. Our results provide the basis for developing mass trapping for control of this pest.  相似文献

The dehydration of 1-phenyl-ethanol to styrene is a critical step in the styrene/propene oxide manufacturing process. An important challenge is to achieve deep dehydration while minimising the oligomerisation of styrene to heavy products that deactivate the catalyst. The present study shows that zeolite-based catalysts can meet the challenge when designed and operated such as to avoid diffusion limitations in the mesopores of the binder. Indeed we achieved high conversion (>90%), reasonable selectivity (>90%) and largely improved catalyst life (>150 h) by using full-extrudate catalysts of low zeolite content that are running at low temperature (220°C) and moderate WHSV (2 g/gextrudate h)).  相似文献

Carbon xerogels synthesized with a fixed resorcinol/sodium carbonate molar ratio (R/C) were physically activated using CO2. The effect of activation temperature and activation time on the final properties of the activated carbon xerogels was evaluated. The specific surface area increases from ∼600 m2 g−1 to 2000 m2 g−1 and more by increasing the temperature and duration of the activation step. A comparison between physical activation with CO2 and chemical activation with hydroxides was also performed: it was found that both processes produce an increase of the micropore volume and specific surface area without altering the mesoporosity developed during the synthesis. However, chemical activation can lead to the development of the narrow microporosity mainly whereas, in physical activation, the widening of the narrow micropores takes place whatever the process conditions.  相似文献

Cubane molecules hold great potential for medicinal chemistry applications due to their inherent stability and low toxicity. In this study, we report the synthesis of a cubane derivative phosphoramidite for the incorporation of cubane into small interfering RNAs (siRNAs). Synthetic siRNAs rely on chemical modifications to improve their pharmacokinetic profiles. However, they are still able to mediate sequence-specific gene silencing via the endogenous RNA interference pathway. We designed a library of siRNAs bearing cubane at different positions within the sense and antisense strands. All siRNAs showed excellent gene-silencing activity, with IC50 values ranging from 45.4 to 305 pM. Incorporating the cubane modification in both the sense and antisense strand led to viable duplexes with good biological activity. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of siRNAs bearing a cubane derivative within the backbone.  相似文献

The discovery of RNA interference has given a new lease on life to both the chemistry of oligonucleotides and chemical approaches for the intracellular delivery of nucleic acids. In particular, delivery of siRNA, whether in vitro for screening and target validation purposes or in humans as a new class of drugs, may revolutionize our approach to therapy. Their impact could equal that of the bioproduction and various uses of monoclonal antibodies today. Unfortunately, global pharmaceutical companies again seem to be waiting to buy the next Genentech or Genzyme of gene silencing rather than investing research and development into this promising area of research. Gene silencing encounters barriers similar to gene addition and hence may benefit from the extra decade of experience brought by gene therapy. "Chemical" transfection of cells in culture has become routine, and this Account discusses some of the reasons this success has not extended to nonviral gene therapy trials, most of which do not progress beyond the phase 2 stage. The author also discusses a (much debated) mechanism of nucleic acid cell entry and subsequent release of the polycationic particles into the cytoplasm. Both topics should be useful to those interested in delivery of siRNA. The move from gene therapy toward siRNA as an oligonucleotide-based therapy strategy provides a much wider range of druggable targets. Even though these molecules are a hundredfold smaller than a gene, they are delivered via similar cellular mechanisms. Their complexes with cationic polymers are less stable than those with a higher number of phosphate groups, which may be compensated by siRNA concatemerization or by chemical conjugation with the cationic carrier. This paper addresses the transportation problem of cross-docking network where the loads are transferred from origins (suppliers) to destinations (retailers) through cross-docking facilities, without storing them in a distribution center (DC). We work on minimizing the transportation cost in a network by loading trucks in the supplier locations and then route them either directly to the customers or indirectly to cross-docking facilities so the loads can be consolidated. For generating a truck operating plan in this type of distribution network, the problem was formulated using an integer programming (IP) model and solved using a novel ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm. We solved several numerical examples for verification and demonstrative purposes and found that our proposed approach finds solutions that significantly reduce the shipping cost in the network of cross-docks and considerably outperform Branch-and-Bound algorithm especially for large problems.  相似文献

This paper concerns the relationship between agents or multi-agent systems and distributed communities of practice. It presents a review of a number of agent and multi-agent applications with features that could contribute to supporting distributed communities of practice. The association is promising because of features like autonomy, pro-activity, flexibility or ability to integrate systems that characterize agents and multi-agent systems. Furthermore, such an association is a step towards building mixed communities of humans and artificial agents. To understand how agents and multi-agent systems could answer some of the needs of distributed communities of practice, we organize the analyzed applications into five different categories defined by considering the main activities of a community, namely: Individual Participation, Synchronous Interactions, Asynchronous Interactions, Publishing and Community Cultivation. Such a classification helps us identify the relevant features of the current technology and determine some that should be further developed, e.g. to support community coordination or gather information related to virtual communities. For each application we selected, we present its main approach and point out its potential interest.  相似文献

This paper tackles rescheduling for the unrelated parallel machine problem with sequence dependent setup times and different rates of breakdowns or urgent jobs arrivals. The jobs’ processing and setup times are stochastic for better depiction of the real world.
