Cognitive radio technology necessitates accurate and timely sensing of the primary users’ activity on the chosen set of channels. If sensing error is unacceptably high, we can reduce the number of working channels so as to improve the channels-vs.-sensing nodes ratio, and undertake differential or split sensing in which subsets of sensing nodes target idle and active channels, respectively. The paper presents a probabilistic analysis of the sensing process, including the split sensing policy, and investigates the range of values in which such, incomplete sensing is capable of maintaining an accurate view of the status of the working channel set.  相似文献

In this study, the policy, market conditions and food security of biomass energy sources are assessed for supplying the future needs of Vojvodina. The Autonomous Province of Vojvodina is an autonomous province in Serbia, containing about 27% of its total population according to the 2002 Census. It is located in the northern part of the country, in the Pannonia plain, in southeastern Europe.Vojvodina is an energy-deficient province. Vojvodina also has a large potential for renewable energy, especially energy from biomass (biodiesel and bio-ethanol). The lack of knowledge about renewable energy technologies by most policy-makers, potential consumers, and energy firm managers has played against renewable energy developments. The environmental impacts of programs that encourage biofuel production, farmland land requirements and the impacts on food production are also discussed, considering the life cycle analysis (LCA) as a tool.It is concluded that the rise in the use of biofuels is inevitable and that international cooperation, regulations and certification mechanisms must be established regarding the use of land, the mitigation of environmental and social impacts caused by biofuel production. It is also mandatory to establish appropriate working conditions and decent remuneration for workers of the biofuels production chain.  相似文献

The incentives to invest human and financial resources in the research and development of cleaner bioprocesses are high, considering the benefits which might be achieved in terms of environment protection and manufacturing costs. In the near and medium tenu, the development of bioprocesses for waste recycling and resource recovery might be one of the most viable options, considering much research work has already been done. In Vojvodina, there are technological solutions that biofuels produced in a closed cycle, so that the quantity of waste reduced to a minimum. These solutions include the stillage (remainder after distillation) used for fattening cattle, and cattle excrement to produce biogas and manure as fertilizer. The energy required for the production of bioethanol is obtained combustion lignocelullose residual waste from the production of basic raw materials starch, or biogas. Ash from the burned biomass returned to soil as a source of minerals for plants and replacement of mineral fertilizer. Such a closed cycle is economical for small farms in Vojvodina.  相似文献

This part of the paper examines numerically the possibility of modeling robot fatigue being representative of a human psychophysical state that can be applied to robots. Temperatures of driving motors are suggested as analogs to fatigue in muscles. Simulation of robot behavior is performed on a typical human task, namely handwriting. Three phases of task execution, characteristic for humans, are observed, i.e. regular motion, reconfiguration after symptoms of fatigue, and degeneration caused by the too long, hard work.  相似文献

We propose an algorithm for adaptive efficient acquisition of fluorescence microscopy data sets using a multirate (MR) approach. We simulate acquisition as part of a larger system for protein classification based on their subcellular location patterns and, thus, strive to maintain the achieved level of classification accuracy as much as possible. This problem is similar to image compression but unique due to additional restrictions, namely causality; we have access only to the information scanned up to that point. While we do want to acquire fewer samples with as low distortion as possible to achieve compression, our goal is to do so while affecting the overall classification accuracy as little as possible. We achieve this by using an adaptive MR scanning scheme which samples the regions of the image area that hold the most pertinent information. Our results show that we can achieve significant compression which we can then use to aquire faster or to increase space resolution of our data set, all while minimally affecting the classification accuracy of the entire system.  相似文献

The operation of a personal area network, operating under the IEEE Standard 802.15.4 in the beacon enabled mode, is analyzed using the theory of discrete time Markov chains and M/G/1/K queues. The model includes the impact of different parameters such as packet arrival rate, number of stations, station’s buffer size, packet size, and inactive period between the beacons. We have derived several important performance parameters such as probability of access, probability that medium is idle, queue length distribution in the device, and probability distribution of the packet service time. Some important conclusions regarding the implementation of 802.15.4 networks and compatible network devices are outlined.  相似文献

Type 2 diabetes (T2D), one of the most prevalent noncommunicable diseases, is often preceded by insulin resistance (IR), which underlies the inability of tissues to respond to insulin and leads to disturbed metabolic homeostasis. Mitochondria, as a central player in the cellular energy metabolism, are involved in the mechanisms of IR and T2D. Mitochondrial function is affected by insulin resistance in different tissues, among which skeletal muscle and liver have the highest impact on whole-body glucose homeostasis. This review focuses on human studies that assess mitochondrial function in liver, muscle and blood cells in the context of T2D. Furthermore, different interventions targeting mitochondria in IR and T2D are listed, with a selection of studies using respirometry as a measure of mitochondrial function, for better data comparison. Altogether, mitochondrial respiratory capacity appears to be a metabolic indicator since it decreases as the disease progresses but increases after lifestyle (exercise) and pharmacological interventions, together with the improvement in metabolic health. Finally, novel therapeutics developed to target mitochondria have potential for a more integrative therapeutic approach, treating both causative and secondary defects of diabetes.  相似文献
