In this paper, we proposed a new two-parameter lifetime distribution with increasing failure rate, the complementary exponential geometric distribution, which is complementary to the exponential geometric model proposed by Adamidis and Loukas (1998). The new distribution arises on a latent complementary risks scenario, in which the lifetime associated with a particular risk is not observable; rather, we observe only the maximum lifetime value among all risks. The properties of the proposed distribution are discussed, including a formal proof of its probability density function and explicit algebraic formulas for its reliability and failure rate functions, moments, including the mean and variance, variation coefficient, and modal value. The parameter estimation is based on the usual maximum likelihood approach. We report the results of a misspecification simulation study performed in order to assess the extent of misspecification errors when testing the exponential geometric distribution against our complementary one in the presence of different sample size and censoring percentage. The methodology is illustrated on four real datasets; we also make a comparison between both modeling approaches.  相似文献

CO2 decomposition reaction into carbon was studied at 300 °C using the H2-reduced Zn(II)-bearing ferrite which consisted of the Zn(II) oxide and the active wüstite. The H2-reduced Zn(II)-bearing ferrite was prepared from Zn(II)-bearing ferrite by the reduction with H2 gas at 300 °C. The wüstite (FeO) in the H2-reduced Zn(II)-bearing ferrite had a higher value (=0.97, active wüstite) than those of the normal wüstites (0.90<<0.95) prepared at high temperatures (>570 °C). The decomposition reaction of CO2 proceeds in two steps: (1) CO2 reduction to CO, and (2) CO decomposition into carbon. In the initial stage, the reduction of CO2 into CO takes place, accompanying both the oxidation of the active wüstite to the slightly oxidized wüstite, and the transformation of active wüstite and Zn(II) oxide into the Zn(II)-bearing ferrite. After the reaction of the initial stage attains equilibrium of an apparent state of rest, the adsorbed CO is decomposed into carbon, associated with the transformation of the slightly oxidized wüstite and the Zn(II) oxide into the Zn(II)-bearing ferrite.  相似文献

Groundwater models are computer models that simulate or predict aquifer conditions by using input data sets and hydraulic parameters. Commonly, hydraulic parameters are extracted by calibration, using observed and simulated aquifer conditions. The accuracy of calibration affects other modeling processes, especially the hydraulic head simulation. Meta-heuristic algorithms are good candidates to determine optimal/near-optimal parameters in groundwater models. In this paper, two meta-heuristic algorithms: (1) particle swarm optimization (PSO) and (2) pattern search (PS) are applied and compared in the Ghaen aquifer, by considering the sum of the squared deviation (SSD) between observed and simulated hydraulic heads and the sum of the absolute value of deviation (SAD) between observed and simulated hydraulic heads as the objective functions. Results show that obtained values of the objective function are enhanced significantly by using the PS algorithm. Accordingly, PS improves (decreases) the SSD and SAD by 0.20 and 2.36 percent, respectively, compared to results reported by using the PSO algorithm. Results also indicate that the proposed PS optimization tool is effective in the calibration of aquifer parameters.  相似文献

Optimization algorithms are important tools for the solution of combinatorial management problems. Nowadays, many of those problems are addressed by using evolutionary algorithms (EAs) that move toward a near-optimal solution by repetitive simulations. Sometimes, such extensive simulations are not possible or are costly and time-consuming. Thus, in this study a method based on artificial neural networks (ANN) is proposed to reduce the number of simulations required in EAs. Specifically, an ANN simulator is used to reduce the number of simulations by the main simulator. The ANN is trained and updated only for required areas in the decision space. Performance of the proposed method is examined by integrating it with the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGAII) in multi-objective problems. In terms of density and optimality of the Pareto front, the hybrid NSGAII-ANN is able to extract the Pareto front with much less simulation time compared to the sole use of the NSGAII algorithm. The proposed NSGAII-ANN methodology was examined using three standard test problems (FON, KUR, and ZDT1) and one real-world problem. The latter addresses the operation of a reservoir with two objectives (meeting demand and flood control). Thus, based on this study, use of the NSGAII-ANN integrative algorithm in problems with time-consuming simulators reduces the required time for optimization up to 50 times. Results of the real-world problem, despite lower computational-time requirements, show a performance similar to that achieved in the aforementioned test problems.  相似文献

Eight subjects participated in a subjective experiment of eight conditions to investigate the effects of heated seats in vehicles on skin temperature, thermal sensation and thermal comfort during the initial warm-up period. The experimental conditions were designed as a combination of air temperature in the test room (5, 10, 15, or 20 °C) and heated seat (on/off). The heated seat was effective for improving thermal comfort during the initial warm-up period when air temperature was lower than 15 °C. Use of heated seats prevented decreases in or increased toe skin temperature. Heated seats also increased foot thermal sensation at 15 and 20 °C. Optimal thermal sensation in contact with the seat was higher when air temperature was lower. Optimal skin temperature in contact with the seat back was higher than that with the seat cushion. Moreover, these optimal skin temperatures were higher when air temperature was lower.  相似文献

Evaluation of patient satisfaction has become an important indicator for assessing health care quality. Fresenius Medical Care (FME) as a global provider of dialysis services through its NephroCare network has a strong interest in monitoring patient satisfaction.The aim of the paper is to test and validate a methodology for detecting a residual area of low satisfaction in dialysis patients.The FME Patient Satisfaction Programme questionnaire was distributed to haemodialysis (HD) patients treated in 335 centers of its network. It contained 79 questions covering various satisfaction aspects regarding Dialysis Unit, Dialysis Arrangement, Nurses, Doctors, etc.To analyse the data provided by the questionnaire, the Self-Organising Map (SOM) method was used. SOM is a neural network model for clustering and projecting high-dimensional data into a low-dimensional space, preserving topological relationships of original high-dimensional data spaces.10,632 HD patients completed the questionnaire. Mean age was 63.05 ± 14.93 years with 56.69% males. Response rate was 66%. Overall level of satisfaction was 1.99 (range from ?3 to +3). On average patients were very satisfied with all issues. Nevertheless, a group of patients, around 60 years old, balanced gender ratio, whose level of satisfaction was lower than 1, were highlighted.In the NephroCare clinics patient satisfaction with service is rather high. While traditional analysis usually stops here, the SOM method allows identification of areas of potential improvement for specific patient groups.  相似文献

This article describes a second treatment-outcome study of cognitive trauma therapy for battered women with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD; CTT-BW). CTT-BW includes trauma history exploration: PTSD education; stress management; exposure to abuse and abuser reminders; self-monitoring of negative self-talk; cognitive therapy for guilt; and modules on self-advocacy, assertiveness, and how to identify perpetrators. One hundred twenty-five ethnically diverse women were randomly assigned to immediate or delayed CTT-BW. PTSD remitted in 87% of women who completed CTT-BW, with large reductions in depression and guilt and substantial increases in self-esteem. White and ethnic minority women benefited equally from CTT-BW. Similar treatment outcomes were obtained by male and female therapists and by therapists with different levels of education and training. Gains were maintained at 3- and 6-month follow-ups. Examination of left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction in hypertensive patients has been based on parameters obtained from the transmitral flow velocity during pulsed Doppler echocardiography. However, these parameters are affected by loading conditions. We evaluated LV diastolic function along the longitudinal and transverse axes by pulsed tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) in 50 hypertensive (HT) patients and 36 age-matched healthy volunteers (N). Transmitral flow velocity was recorded by pulsed Doppler echocardiography. LV posterior wall motion velocity along the longitudinal and transverse axes also was recorded by pulsed TDI. In both groups, peak early diastolic velocity of the LV posterior wall (Ew) along the transverse axis (N: 15.8+/-5.2 cm/s, HT: 12.2+/-4.4 cm/s) was higher than that along the longitudinal axis (N: 12.7+/-3.1 cm/s, HT: 9.5+/-3.3 cm/s). Peak atrial systolic velocity of the LV posterior wall (Aw) along the longitudinal axis (N: 9.1+/-1.8 cm/s, HT: 9.7 +/-2.6 cm/s) significantly exceeded that along the transverse axis (N: 8.0+/-2.2 cm/s, HT: 8.4+/-2.4 cm/s) in both groups. The Ews were lower and the Aws were higher along both axes in the patient group than in the control group. The time intervals from the aortic component of the second heart sound to the peak of the early diastolic wave (IIA-Ews) along both the transverse (N: 142+/-18 ms, HT: 154+/-19 ms) and longitudinal (N: 151 16 ms, HT: 162+/-20 ms) axes were longer in the patient group. In 29 patients, Ews along both axes correlated negatively (transverse: r = -0.80, P < .0001; longitudinal: r = -0.71, P < .0001) and IIA-Ews correlated positively (transverse: r = 0.81, P < .0001; longitudinal: r = 0.74, P < .001) with the time constant of the LV pressure decay during isovolumic diastole. The Aws along both axes in the 24 patients without pseudonormalization in transmitral flow velocity correlated positively (transverse: r = 0.60, P < .001; longitudinal: r = 0.74, P < .0001) with the LV end-diastolic pressure. In conclusion, LV relaxation and filling along the longitudinal and transverse axes were impaired in many patients with hypertension. Pulsed TDI was useful for evaluating LV diastolic dynamics in this disease.  相似文献

In this paper, a new Doppler technique based on pulse subtraction imaging (PSD) is described and compared with pulse inversion Doppler (PID). Combining a nonlinear contrast agent imaging technique with a Doppler process provides a tool for detecting motion of both contrast agents and tissues. This has potential in targeted imaging in which attached microbubbles need to be separated from moving ones and surrounding tissues. The results from both simulation and experiment show that PSD is able to differentiate bubble motion from tissue motion. For Doppler processing conducted at the fundamental frequency, the contrast-to-tissue ratio (CTR) in PSD was 3.3 (±0.4) times higher on average than PID at a mechanical index (MI) of 0.1. At the harmonic frequency, PID was shown to have a 3.1 (±0.4) times higher CTR than PSD. Overall, taken in their optimum processing conditions, PID has a CTR up to 1.9 (±0.4) times higher than PSD. The CTRs for both techniques have also been shown to increase with increasing MI. However, for the same axial Doppler resolution. PSD also allows less energy to be transmitted into the medium, which makes it less disruptive. The relative performances of PSD and PID in terms of the bandwidth of the imaging system are also discussed.  相似文献
