Recent developments in the exfoliation, dispersion, and processing of pristine graphene (i.e., non‐oxidized graphene) are described. General metrics are outlined that can be used to assess the quality and processability of various “graphene” products, as well as metrics that determine the potential for industrial scale‐up. The pristine graphene production process is categorized from a chemical engineering point of view with three key steps: i) pretreatment, ii) exfoliation, and iii) separation. How pristine graphene colloidal stability is distinct from the exfoliation step and is dependent upon graphene interactions with solvents and dispersants are extensively reviewed. Finally, the challenges and opportunities of using pristine graphene as nanofillers in polymer composites, as well as as building blocks for macrostructure assemblies are summarized in the context of large‐scale production. 相似文献

Development of the Japanese SF-36 was completed in two phases: Phase 1: Japanese version 1.1 was produced according to International Quality of Life Assessment (IQOLA) project guidelines, but some results of psychometric tests were unexpected. First, scores varied little across physical-functioning items. Second, using factor analysis, we could not clearly distinguish the scales designed to measure the "physical" component of quality of life from those designed to measure the "mental" component. Phase 2: Focus-group discussions revealed that limited had often been interpreted as limited by a doctor. Therefore, is difficult to do was used instead (version 1.2). Results of two surveys indicated that version 1.2 yields scores that are reliable by internal consistency and test-retest standards and yields two principal components. There has been a regulatory movement toward the required use of tamper-evident containers for fresh blue crab meat. North Carolina passed tamper-evident regulations in 1993. Blue crab processors had little information on possible changes in head-space gases, microbial growth, chemical decomposition, sensory quality, or shelf life caused by the new containers. Chemical, microbiological, physical, and sensory changes in fresh crab meat were monitored during 18 days of storage in ice and 13 days of storage refrigerated at 4 degrees C. "Special" blue crab meat, chosen for the study, is the least expensive commercial form of white crab meat. The crab meat was packaged in four retail containers: copolymer polyethylene cups with polyethylene snap-on lids, copolymer polyethylene cups with snap-on polyethylene lids fastened to the cup with heat-shrink low-density polypropylene seals, copolymer polyethylene cans with aluminum easy-open ends, and copolymer polypropylene cups with a tamper-evident pull-tab on the lid. Control samples packaged in industry standard copolymer polyethylene cups maintained higher oxygen levels than meat stored in tamper-evident containers. No consistent differences in quality or shelf life were detected among the containers. Market shelf life was limited to 6 days for meat held at 4 degrees C and 15 days for meat held at 0 degrees C. Sensory quality deteriorated 6 days earlier for crab meat held at 4 degrees C than meat held at 0 degrees C. Collateral work showed that toxin production by Clostridium botulinum neither occurred following 18 days of storage at 4 degrees C nor after 15 days of storage at 10 degrees C. Definite spoilage occurred before any toxin production. The study suggests that blue crab processors can safely use the new tamper-evident packaging, which has little or no effect on product quality or shelf life. We have previously described in tuberous sclerosis (TSC) hamartomas the phenomenon of loss of heterozygosity (LOH) for DNA markers in the region of both the TSC2 gene on chromosome 16p13.3 and the TSC1 gene on 9q34. We now describe the spectrum of LOH in 51 TSC hamartomas from 34 cases of TSC. DNA was extracted from leucocytes or normal paraffin embedded tissue, and from frozen paraffin embedded hamartoma tissue from the same patient. The samples were analysed for 11 markers spanning the TSC1 locus and nine markers spanning the TSC2 locus. Twenty-one of 51 hamartomas showed LOH (41%). There was significantly more LOH on 16p13.3, with 16 hamartomas showing LOH around TSC2, and five in the vicinity of TSC1. No hamartoma showed LOH for markers around both loci. All the areas of LOH on chromosome 9 were large, but the smallest region of overlap lay between the markers D9S149 and D9S114, providing independent evidence for the localisation of the TSC1 gene. These data show that LOH is a common finding in a wide range of hamartomas, affecting the same TSC locus in different lesions from the same patient but not affecting both loci. These data support the hypothesis that both the TSC genes act as tumour suppressors and that the manifestations of TSC in patients with germline TSC mutations rise from "second hit" somatic mutations inactivating the remaining normal copy of the TSC gene. 相似文献

Reconstructing boundaries along material interfaces from volume fractions is a difficult problem, especially because the under‐resolved nature of the input data allows for many correct interpretations. Worse, algorithms widely accepted as appropriate for simulation are inappropriate for visualization. In this paper, we describe a new algorithm that is specifically intended for reconstructing material interfaces for visualization and analysis requirements. The algorithm performs well with respect to memory footprint and execution time, has desirable properties in various accuracy metrics, and also produces smooth surfaces with few artifacts, even when faced with more than two materials per cell. 相似文献

Recent developments in runtime verification and monitoring show that parametric regular and temporal logic specifications
can be efficiently monitored against large programs. However, these logics reduce to ordinary finite automata, limiting their
expressivity. For example, neither can specify structured properties that refer to the call stack of the program. While context-free
grammars (CFGs) are expressive and well-understood, existing techniques for monitoring CFGs generate large runtime overhead
in real-life applications. This paper demonstrates that monitoring parametric CFGs is practical (with overhead on the order of 12% or lower in most cases). We present a monitor synthesis algorithm for CFGs based on an
LR(1) parsing algorithm, modified to account for good prefix matching. In addition, a logic-independent mechanism is introduced

The flow around two-dimensional cylinders at moderate Reynolds numbers has been much studied, both for cylinders perpendicular to the flow and for cylinders yawed to the flow. In contrast, yawed finite aspect ratio cylinders have received little attention. In this article we describe computer simulations of cylinders with aspect ratios 2 L/D 20 yawed at angles 0° α 90° relative to a free stream. The simulations were carried out for Reynolds numbers in the range 1 Re 40. The simulations show that the Independence Principle [Zdravkovich MM. Flow around circular cylinders, vol. 2: applications. New York: Oxford University Press; 2003[1]] is not accurate for α 45°. We have also found that for all aspect ratios, the ratio of the lift to drag force reaches a maximum for 40° < α < 50°. What if the ideal tools for teaching undergraduate students the most critical information literacy concepts have been sitting in the stacks all along collecting dust? Reference sources are an optimal medium to introduce all six of the Association of College &; Research Libraries' (ACRL) Framework's central concepts for information literacy. Additionally, by understanding a reference source's place in the information search process, students learn to consciously avoid the common pitfall of neglecting exploratory research before specifying research inquiries. Flying in and around caves, tunnels, and buildings demands more than one sensing modality. This article presented an optic-flow- based approach inspired by flying insects for avoiding lateral collisions. However, there were a few real-world scenarios in which optic flow sensing failed. This occurred when obstacles on approach were directly in front of the aircraft. Here, a simple sonar or infrared sensor can be used to trigger a quick transition into the hovering mode to avoid the otherwise fatal collision. Toward this end, we have demonstrated a fixed-wing prototype capable of manually transitioning from conventional cruise flight into the hovering mode. The prototype was then equipped with an IMU and a flight control system to automate the hovering process. Re-entrant flow manufacturing lines, such as occur in semiconductor wafer fabrication, are characterized by a product routing that consists of multiple visits to a workstation or group of workstations during the manufacturing process. In this paper, a modeling approach is based on the use of generalized Petri nets for a re-entrant flow manufacturing line is presented. Specifically, three Petri net models representing a re-entrant flow line with three work centers and six machines are modeled.
