Oxyfuel combustion is seen as one of the major options for CO2 capture for future clean coal technologies. The paper provides an overview on research activities and technology development through a fundamental research underpinning the Australia/Japan Oxyfuel Feasibility Project. Studies on oxyfuel combustion on a pilot-scale furnace and a laboratory scale drop tube furnace are presented and compared with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) predictions. The research has made several contributions to current knowledge, including; comprehensive assessment on oxyfuel combustion in a pilot-scale oxyfuel furnace, modifying the design criterion for an oxy retrofit by matching heat transfer, a new 4-grey gas model which accurately predicts emissivity of the gases in oxy-fired furnaces has been developed for furnace modelling, the first measurements of coal reactivity comparisons in air and oxyfuel at laboratory and pilot-scale; and predictions of observed delays in flame ignition in oxy-firing.  相似文献

This work is focused on the removal of Ni(II) from aqueous solutions by sorption onto newly developed magnetite‐loaded calcium alginate particles. The uptake of Ni(II) by these magnetite particles, with their mean geometrical diameter 84 and 508 μm, is best described by the Freundlich isotherm and the constants KF and 1/n were found to be 3.491 mg g?1, 0.731 and 0.793 mg g?1 and 0.907, respectively. The mean sorption energy, as determined by Dubinin‐Radushkevich isotherm for 508‐ and 84‐μm sized particles was evaluated to be 8.9 and 8.0 kJ mol?1, respectively, thus, suggesting the ion‐exchange mechanism for uptake process. Of the various kinetic models proposed, the kinetic Ni(II)‐uptake data were best interpreted by “Simple Elovich” and “Power function” as suggested by their higher regression values. The almost linear nature of plots of log(% sorption) versus log(time) was indicative of intraparticle diffusion. The values of intraparticle diffusion coefficients Kid were found to be 63.49 × 10?2 and 94.35 × 10?2 mg l?1 min0.5. The intraparticle diffusion was also confirmed by Bangham equation. Finally, various thermodynamic parameters were evaluated. The negative ΔG° indicated spontaneous nature of uptake process while positive ΔH° value suggested exothermic nature of the sorption process. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Blends of polypropylene/ethylene octene comonomer (PP/EOC) with conducting fillers viz., carbon black (CB) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNT) were prepared using melt mixing technique with varying filler concentration and blend compositions. Thermo gravimetric analysis studies indicated that presence of filler enhanced the thermal stability of PP/EOC blends. Morphological analysis revealed the formation of matrix‐dispersed droplet and co‐continuous type of morphology depending on the blend compositions. Significant reduction in droplet size and finer ligament thickness in co‐continuous structure were observed in the blends with filler due to compatibilization action. Fillers were found to be aggregated in the EOC phase irrespective of blends compositions and could be related to the affinity of the fillers toward EOC phase. The electrical conductivity of PP/EOC blends with CB and MWNT was found to be highest for 80/20 composition and decreased as EOC content increased. The percolation threshold of CB was between 10 and 15 wt% for the 80/20 and 70/30 blends whereas it was 15–20 wt% for blends with EOC content higher than 30 wt%. The percolation threshold was 2–3 wt% MWNT for PP/EOC blends. This was attributed to the aggregated filler network preferentially in the EOC phase. Theory and experimental calibration of density dependent modified Drucker-Prager/Cap (DPC) model are presented by using a novel instrumented cubic die in powder compaction tests. The cubic die is designed for directly determining the loading and unloading forces and displacements of powder compact inside the die in compaction and transverse directions without any additional calibration. The cap surface parameters and elastic properties are characterized by fitting stress and strain curves recorded during loading and unloading at different green density values and the plastic material parameters for failure surface are obtained by additional radial and axial compressive tests. The experimental data is subsequently used in the simulation of cubic die compaction to verify the results from the density dependent modified DPC model.  相似文献

A new hybrid model, the wavelet–bootstrap–multiple linear regression (WBMLR) is proposed to explore the potential of wavelet analysis and bootstrap resampling techniques for daily discharge forecasting. The performance of the developed WBMLR model is also compared with five more models: multiple linear regression (MLR), artificial neural network (ANN), wavelet-based MLR (WMLR), wavelet-based ANN (WANN) and wavelet–bootstrap–ANN (WBANN) models. Seven years of discharge data from seven gauging stations in the middle reaches of Mahanadi river basin in India are applied in this study. Significant input vectors are decomposed into discrete wavelet components (DWCs) using discrete wavelet transformation (DWT) to generate wavelet sub time series that are used as inputs to the MLR and ANN models to develop the WMLR and WANN models, respectively. Effective wavelets are selected by considering several types of wavelets with different vanishing moments. WBMLR and WBANN models are developed as ensemble of different WMLR and WANN models, respectively, developed using different realizations of the training dataset generated using bootstrap resampling technique. The results show that the wavelet bootstrap hybrid models (i.e. WBMLR and WBANN) produce significantly better results than the traditional MLR and ANN models. Hybrid models based on MLR (WMLR, WBMLR) perform better than the ANN based hybrid models (WBANN, WANN). The WBMLR and WMLR models simulate the peak discharges better than the WBANN, WANN, MLR and ANN models, whereas the overall performance of WBMLR model is found to be more accurate and reliable than the remaining five models.  相似文献

Barium hexaferrite BaFe12O19 (BHF) ceramic was synthesized by chemical route on sintering at 1050 °C for 12 h. The synthesized material was characterized by XRD, SEM, AFM and TEM analysis. Metal oxide stretching frequencies corresponding to Fe-O, Ba-O, and Fe-O-Fe bands are confirmed by FTIR studies. The hexagonal nature of the BHF ceramic was confirmed by TEM analysis and Rietveld refinement with space group P63/mmc. The particle size observed by TEM is 175 nm. The root means square and average roughness were found to be 61.048 nm and 44.025 nm respectively. The M-T and M-H hysteresis loop indicates temperature dependent ferromagnetic behavior of BHF ceramic. The temperature and frequency dependent dielectric properties were explained by Maxwell-Wagner theory. The value of dielectric constant (ε′) for BHF ceramic was found to be 22× 103 at 100 Hz and 483 K.  相似文献

This paper proposes a Zeta-derived non-isolated single-stage power electronic interface for on-board application of plug-in electric vehicles, which provides all modes (plug-in charging, propulsion, and regenerative braking) of vehicle operation. In addition, the proposed converter can charge the battery through universal input voltage range, i.e., 90–260 V due to buck/boost operations in plug-in charging mode. In propulsion and regenerative braking modes, the proposed converter operates as conventional boost and buck DC/DC converter, respectively. Compared to existing single-stage converters, the proposed converter has least components to those converters which have buck/boost operation in plug-in charging mode. A voltage/current stresses and loss analysis of the converter have been investigated for each mode of converter operation. Detailed simulation and experimental results are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed converter.  相似文献

A fibrous scaffold of curdlan/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) blend is prepared by electrospinning technique and antimicrobial property is imparted to it by the addition of silver nitrate (1, 3, and 5 wt%). All the scaffolds except the PVA/curdlan with 5 wt% AgNO3 show good viability of Swiss 3T3 fibroblast cells. Significant reductions in the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli are also observed in all the scaffolds. In vitro scratch assay and cell adhesion studies indicate that the scaffold containing 1% AgNO3 shows significant wound healing and better cell spreading. The in vivo results also show faster healing of excision wounds in diabetic rats treated with the same material when compared to the control and the commercial sample. Furthermore, downregulation of proinflammatory cytokines and upregulation of anti‐inflammatory cytokines on the skin of the treated animals confirm that PVA/curdlan/1% AgNO3 electrospun mat could be a promising material for diabetic wound healing.  相似文献
