The signature of oxide ion conductivity was perceived in acceptor-doped (alkaline-earth metals) Y3GaO6. An acceptor doping of 2%Ca in Y3GaO6 (i.e., Y2.94Ca0.06GaO6) has been found to exhibit a remarkable conductivity. The present work examines the conductivity behavior of 2% Ca-doped tri-yttrium gallate (Y2.94Ca0.06GaO6) and also the effect of Mg-substitution on the phase formation and electrical conductivity of Y2.94Ca0.06GaO6 for its possible application as a solid electrolyte. Polycrystalline dense ceramic samples of Y2.94Ca0.06Ga1−xMgxO6−δ (with x = .00–.04) were fabricated using the conventional solid-state reaction route. The X-ray diffraction patterns were recorded to confirm the phase formation. The solid solubility limit of Mg2+ at Ga3+ site was found for x < .03. All the samples were observed to exhibit orthorhombic structure with Cmc21 symmetry (ICSD no.: 155086). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) morphology reveals dense polygonal grains with vibrant grain boundaries. A significant increase in the conductivity is observed by substituting 1 mol% of Mg2+ at the Ga3+ site of Y2.94Ca0.06Ga1−xMgxO6−δ. However, a further addition of higher dopant concentration of Mg2+ leads to a decline in the electrical conductivity. A relationship between the dopant concentration, phase formation, and structural characterizations has been established to analyze the conductivity behavior.  相似文献

The nature and distribution of hard ceramic particles in composite materials influences the properties to greater extent. In the present work, the role of hard ceramic reinforced particles on the tribological behaviour of aluminum metal matrix composites consisting of single (SRP) and dual reinforced particles (DRP) is studied at different temperatures. Zircon sand and silicon carbide particles of size 20–32 μm were used as reinforcement in commercial grade LM13 piston alloy. Composites of dual reinforced particles in aluminum matrix (DRP-AMCs) were developed by mixing 15 wt% reinforced particles by two step stir casting technique. The wear behaviour of DRP-AMCs and SRP-AMCs (single reinforced particles aluminum matrix composite) was investigated using a pin-on-disc method at high temperatures under dry sliding condition. The microstructural examination of developed composites shows globular and finely distributed eutectic silicon in the vicinity of the reinforced particles. Metallographic investigation revealed that the wear zone of the SRP composite consisted of a hardened layer, which is responsible for high wear loss observed in the SRP composite. The results further indicate a transition in the wear mode that occurs after 150 °C for all composites. Study reveals that the dual reinforcement of particles enhances the wear resistance as compared to single reinforced particles if mixed in a definite ratio. A combination of 3% zircon sand and 12% silicon carbide particle reinforced composite exhibits better wear resistance as compared to other combinations at all the temperatures for low and high loads both.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Tri-iso-amyl phosphate (TiAP) in dodecane (DD) is emerging as a potent alternative for the extraction of suitable actinides from nitric acid solutions comprising various metal ions. A detailed investigation on the evolution in physicochemical properties upon gamma irradiation of TiAP-DD system has been carried out. Physical properties, such as density, viscosity, phase disengagement time, interfacial tension, etc., were measured for neat as well as irradiated solvent phases. Effect of aqueous phase acidity, which is an important parameter during extraction, on the hydrodynamic properties of the solvent during radiolysis was compared. ATR–FTIR spectroscopy of the irradiated phase was compared to find out the formation of new classes of compounds, if any.  相似文献

The biosorption of cyanide ions from aqueous solution by bagasse was studied in a batch adsorption system with pH, contact time, cyanide ion concentration, metal ion concentration, and adsorbent dosage as variables. XRD, FT-IR spectroscopy, CHN, proximate, ultimate, and TG/DTG thermal analyses were used for the characterization of bagasse. The biosorption capacities and rates of biosorption of cyanide ions onto bagasse were evaluated. The Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models were applied to describe the isotherms and isotherm constants. Biosorption isothermal data were interpreted by the Langmuir model followed by the Freundlich model with maximum adsorption capacity of 98% of cyanide ion on bagasse. The kinetic experimental data were properly correlated with the first- and second-order kinetic model.  相似文献

The study gives an insight into the effect of low frequency ultrasonic enhancement of solvent extraction on the quality of non-edible oils (Jatropha and Pongamia as model seed varieties) in comparison to conventional methods of extraction i.e. direct reflux or soxhlet extraction using hexane. A series of experiments have been carried out to study the effect of variables; solute to solvent ratio (1:2.5-1:10) and reaction time (30 s-60 min) on the yield of oil. The quality of oil extracted by different methods have been assessed by determining the acid value of oil by ASTM D-974/04 method, a measurement of triglyceride and fatty acid degradation, by the presence of phorbol esters in Jatropha curcas and phenolic compounds in Pongamia oil analyzed using HPLC. Under optimized conditions solute to solvent ratio of 1:10 (w/v), 3 min extraction time yields > 95% pure oil having < 1% FFA in Jatropha curcas and 30 s extraction time in Pongamia seed yields oil with less than 2% FFA in comparison to conventional method of extraction in 16 h.  相似文献

Novel nanocomposites of barium hexaferrite‐ and fullerene‐containing polyurethane were synthesized and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffractometry, and energy‐dispersive X‐ray diffraction. The nanoparticles showed good dispersion in the polyurethane matrix. Their thermal, mechanical, and electromagnetic absorbance properties were studied. The complex permeability and permittivity were measured in the frequency range of 8.2–12.4 GHz. The maximum reflection loss of the nanocomposites was found to increase with increasing the ferrite content from 1% to 5%, with maximum value of −7.5 dB at only 5% composition. The incorporation of nanofiller not only imparts mechanical strength to the nanocomposite but also shows good radar‐absorbing properties at only 5% filler concentration. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
