The changes in nitrifying bacterial population under cadmium loading were monitored and evaluated in a laboratory scale continuous-flow enriched nitrification system. For this purpose, the following molecular microbiological methods were used: slot–blot hybridization, denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE), real-time PCR followed by melting curve analysis, cloning and sequence analysis. The initial cadmium concentration was incrementally increased from 1 to 10 mg/l which led to a drop in ammonia removal efficiency from 99 to 10%. Inhibition was recovered when cadmium loading was stopped. During the second application of cadmium, nitrifying population became more tolerant. Even at 15 mg/l Cd, only a minor inhibition was observed. To investigate the variations in ammonia and nitrite oxidizing bacteria populations in a period of 483 days, ammonia monooxygenase (amoA) and 16S rRNA genes-based molecular techniques were used. An obvious shift was experienced in the diversity of ammonia oxidizers after the first application of 10 mg/l Cd. Metal-tolerant ammonia oxidizing species became dominant and the microbial diversity sharply shifted from Nitrosomonas and Nitrosococcus sp. to Nitrosospira sp. which were observed to tolerate higher cadmium loadings. This result indicated that the extent of nitrification inhibition was not only related to the metal concentration and quantity of microorganisms but also depended on the type of species.  相似文献

In this study, a novel organic–inorganic hybrid compound with AgNO3 and 2,3-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (H2pydc), [Ag26-pydc)]n (1) has been synthesized. The molecular structure of complex has been determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex has been observed to crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/c. The asymmetric unit of compound consists of two crystallographically different Ag(I) centers and one pydc ligand. The Ag1 and Ag2 adopt tetrahedral and T-shaped geometries, respectively. At the same time, the silver(I) compound consists of a fish bone similar to the 1D silver cluster. Furthermore, novel coordination mode shown by H2pydc indicates that the crystal exhibits photoluminescence in the solid state at room temperature.  相似文献

Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate the sealing ability of bonded amalgam restorations using different adhesive materials with different adhesive application methods including amalgam bonding application. Materials and methods: The prepared Class-V cavities were randomly assigned to four application groups of four tested dual-curing dentin adhesives (Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus, XP Bond, Xeno IV and Clearfil Liner Bond 2V), dual-curing resin-based cement (Panavia F2.0) and a control group (unlined amalgam). Group 1 adhesives were applied according to the instructions for direct light-curing, Group 2 chemical-curing mode was applied according to the manufacturer’s amalgam bonding instructions. Group 3 adhesives were first applied in light-curing mode, and then amalgam bonding adhesive was applied. Group 4 adhesives were first applied in chemical-curing mode, followed immediately by light-curing mode. After that, amalgam adhesive parts were applied; then, the amalgam was condensed and carved. After storage for 24 h in distilled water at 37 °C, restorations were finished and polished. The teeth were then thermocycled (500 cycles between 5 and 55 °C), and the specimens were examined for microleakage using methylene blue as a marker. Results: Compared to the control group, the adhesive application modes significantly reduced microleakage for both dentin and enamel margins (p < 0.05). In dentin margins of the adhesives tested, Group 4 showed the lowest leakage score. On the enamel margins for Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus and XP Bond, Group 1 showed the highest microleakage (p < 0.05). Conclusion: According to marginal sealing ability and ease of application, Group 2 was recommended for the etch and rinse systems, and Group 4 was also recommended for the self-etch systems under amalgam restorations.  相似文献

A modified model for prediction of flux dissolution in oxygen steelmaking process is presented in this study. The aim of this paper is to introduce a procedure for simulating the amount of dissolved lime with respect to the saturation concentration of CaO by coupling the existing thermodynamic and kinetic models simultaneously. The procedure is developed to calculate the saturation concentrations/solubility of CaO in slag using thermodynamic models namely FactSage?, Cell Model, and Thermo-Calc?. Total amount of dissolved lime is evaluated by integrating solubility values in the rate equation of lime dissolution over time taking into account the effects of physical properties and temperature of slag and particle size of flux additions and validated against industrial data available in literature. Comparison between measured and calculated undissolved lime shows a good agreement between them using any thermodynamic models even though there are some differences in the predictions of saturation concentration of CaO in slag. It has been shown that two distinct control mechanisms for lime dissolution in BOF slags exist and consideration of the free lime-controlled mechanism is essential for accurate prediction of dissolution rate of lime in slag.  相似文献

Er,Cr:YSGG lasers are currently being investigated for disinfecting the root canal treatment. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of various irrigation protocols on push-out bond strength of fiber posts. Fifty maxillary anterior teeth were divided into five groups (n = 10) according to the protocol that applied into the post space. Group-1: distilled water, Group-2: 5% NaOCl, Group-3: 2% CHX, Group-4: Er,Cr:YSGG laser (1.5 W, 20 Hz, 85 air, 75 water, 26.7 J/cm2), Group-5: Er,Cr:YSGG laser (1.25 W, 50 Hz, 34 air, 24 water, 12.7 J/cm2). Fiber posts were cemented with resin cement. The remaining part of the root, three slices were obtained from each specimen and push-out test was performed. One-way ANOVA and Duncan’s test at a 5% level of significance were used for the statistical analysis. Post space irradiation with Er,Cr:YSGG laser (1.5 W 20 Hz, 85 air, 75 water, 26.7 J/cm2) increases push-out bond strength of fiber post to root canal dentin. Further investigations are needed to establish and optimize ER,Cr:YSGG laser parameters to increase the push-out bond strength of fiber posts.  相似文献

Styrenation of air-blown linseed oil by a nitroxide-mediated radical polymerization (NMRP) technique is described. In this technique, air-blown linseed oil bearing hydroperoxide groups was used as a macroinitiator in NMRP of styrene in the presence of 2,2′,6,6′-tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxy (TEMPO). The effects of various parameters, such as the amount of TEMPO and hydroperoxide groups, were investigated in terms of molecular weight and polydispersity. For comparison, a copolymer sample of air-blown linseed oil with styrene was also prepared in the absence of TEMPO. The film properties of all samples were determined according to the related standards and were compared with respect to surface protection. Samples prepared by the NMRP technique exhibited relatively narrow polydispersity and better film properties compared to those of the samples obtained by the conventional method.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The speciation of metals is often overlooked in understanding their observed inhibitory effect in biological systems, in particular in nitrification systems. This study examines the effects of Cu, Zn, Ni and Co on a nitrifying sludge, where the aim is to relate inhibition to speciation. RESULTS: Nitrification inhibition was monitored by O2 and CO2 measurements, an approach rarely followed to date. The IC50 value of each metal was expressed in terms of total, free and labile metal. Zn and Cu formed similar species, but had different free and labile fractions. Although free and labile fractions of Cu were much lower than the others, it was the most inhibitory metal. Ni and Co exhibited quite different inhibitory effects on nitrification despite the formation of similar metal species. Co was the least inhibitory metal and exhibited its effect very slowly. CONCLUSION: The study is among the few which examine inhibition and speciation of several metals in a comparative way. In the same nitrification medium each metal formed different species, which is a factor to be considered in interpretation of inhibition. Novel electroconductive polymeric films with enhanced mechanical performance were fabricated by encapsulating reduced graphene oxide (RGO) at different concentrations (0–50 vol %) into a hyaluronic acid/gelatin/poly(ethylene oxide) (HyA/Gel/PEO) polymeric structure. The obtained RGO-reinforced polymeric films were characterized by Fourier transform infrared and scanning electron microscopy analyses. Mechanical performances were measured with a universal mechanical testing machine. The results verified that the RGO reinforcement significantly enhanced the mechanical performances of the films. To determine the biocompatibility of the polymeric films, L929 (murine fibroblast) cell lines were used. The water uptake capacities were measured using swelling tests. A four-probe method was used to measure conductivity characteristics. The conductivity results indicated that HyA/Gel/PEO film containing 20 vol % RGO has the highest average electrical conductivity (1.832 × 10−6 S/cm). All of the results demonstrated that the obtained electroconductive films could be used in biomedical fields in the future, especially in controlled drug release systems and tissue engineering. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
