The present study shows the effect of porosity on the dynamic elastic moduli of partially dense yttria (Y2O3). This article reveals that the sound velocities and the elastic moduli of the porous samples depend not only on density, but also upon the reciprocal of the initial particle and agglomerate size. These findings explain some of the variation in the elastic moduli found especially, but not only, for highly porous yttria.  相似文献

Abstract

Fullerenes are made by the intersection of twelve pentagonal nanocones. This note deals with an innovative isomeric mechanism, based on a sequence of Stone-Wales rotations, for moving the pentagonal face on the cusp of the nanocone. The modified nanocone is the seed for creating new fullerenes with different symmetry and size. Present results may help to model fullerene formation and, on the pure algorithmic side, may contribute to evolve the computer tools that generate fullerenes. This mechanism may also find application in mimicking the behaviors of biological systems that, like many viruses, are also describable in terms of spherical cages tiled by polygons.  相似文献

Understanding energy transport in metal halide perovskites is essential to effectively guide further optimization of materials and device designs. However, difficulties to disentangle charge carrier diffusion, photon recycling, and photon transport have led to contradicting reports and uncertainty regarding which mechanism dominates. In this study, monocrystalline CsPbBr3 nanowires serve as 1D model systems to help unravel the respective contribution of energy transport processes in metal-halide perovskites. Spatially, temporally, and spectrally resolved photoluminescence (PL) microscopy reveals characteristic signatures of each transport mechanism from which a robust model describing the PL signal accounting for carrier diffusion, photon propagation, and photon recycling is developed. For the investigated CsPbBr3 nanowires, an ambipolar carrier mobility of μ = 35 cm2 V−1 s−1 is determined, and is found that charge carrier diffusion dominates the energy transport process over photon recycling. Moreover, the general applicability of the developed model is demonstrated on different perovskite compounds by applying it to data provided in previous related reports, from which clarity is gained as to why conflicting reports exist. These findings, therefore, serve as a useful tool to assist future studies aimed at characterizing energy transport mechanisms in semiconductor nanowires using PL.  相似文献

The increasing demand for video streaming services with a high Quality of Experience (QoE) has prompted considerable research on client-side adaptation logic approaches. However, most algorithms use the client’s previous download experience and do not use a crowd knowledge database generated by users of a professional service. We propose a new crowd algorithm that maximizes the QoE. We evaluate our algorithm against state-of-the-art algorithms on large, real-life, crowdsourcing datasets. There are six datasets, each of which contains samples of a single operator (T-Mobile, AT&T or Verizon) from a single road (I100 or I405). All measurements were from Android cellphones. The datasets were provided by WeFi LTD and are public for academic users. Our new algorithm outperforms all other methods in terms of QoE (eMOS).  相似文献

Copper‐ and cobalt‐based layered simple hydroxides (LSH) are successfully functionalized by a series of fluorene mono‐ and diphosphonic acids, using anionic exchange reactions and a preintercalation strategy. The lateral functionalization of the fluorene moieties has only little impact on the overall structure of the obtained layered hybrid materials but it influences the organization of the molecules within the interlamellar spacing. For bulky fluorene (9,9‐dioctyl derivative), luminescence is preserved when inserted into copper and cobalt hydroxydes, whereas it is completely quenched for the other fluorenes. Detailed characterization of the internal structure and chemical bonding properties for copper‐ and cobalt‐based hybrids is performed via ancillary experimental techniques. For the copper‐based LSH class, for which more elusive findings are found, first‐principles molecular dynamics simulations unravel the fundamental stabilizing role of the H‐bonding network promoted within the local environments of the fluorene mono‐ and diphosphonic acids. The cobalt series of compounds constitute a new class of hybrid magnets, with ordering temperatures ranging from 11.8 to 17.8 K and show a clear magnetoelectric effect. This effect appears above a threshold magnetic field, which is null below the magnetic ordering temperature, and it persists in the paramagnetic regime till about 110 K.  相似文献

Calcium phosphates are of great interest for biomedical applications such as bone tissue engineering, bone fillers, drug and gene delivery, and orthopedic and dental implant coating. Here, the first electrochemically driven coating of medical implants using hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanoparticles (NPs) as building blocks is reported. This uncommon combination offers a simple, straightforward, and economic process with well controllable, pure, single‐phase HAp. Crystalline, pure HAp NPs are formed by precipitation reaction. The HAp NPs are dispersed by either citrate or poly(acrylic acid) to form pH sensitive dispersion. Controllable and homogeneous coating of medical implants is accomplished by altering the pH on the surface upon applying either a constant potential or current. The process involves protonation of the carboxylic acid moieties, which causes the irreversible aggregation of the HAp NPs due to diminishing the repulsive forces between the particles. Deposition is further demonstrated on a commercial dental implant. Moreover, the adhesion of the coating satisfies FDA and international standard requirements. A porous interconnected network of bone‐like HAp layer is formed during soaking in a simulated body fluid for 30 d and is similar to bone generation, and it therefore holds promise for further in vivo testing.  相似文献

Classical electrostriction, describing a second‐order electromechanical response of insulating solids, scales with elastic compliance, S, and inversely with dielectric susceptibility, ε. This behavior, first noted 20 years ago by Robert Newnham, is shown to apply to a wide range of electrostrictors including polymers, glasses, crystalline linear dielectrics, and relaxor ferroelectrics. Electrostriction in fluorite ceramics of (Y, Nb)‐stabilized δ‐Bi2O3 is examined with 16%–23% vacant oxygen sites. Given the values of compliance and dielectric susceptibility, the electrostriction coefficients are orders of magnitude larger than those expected from Newnham's scaling law. In ambient temperature nanoindentation measurements, (Y, Nb)‐stabilized δ‐Bi2O3 displays primary creep. These findings, which are strikingly similar to those reported for Gd‐doped ceria, support the suggestion that ion conducting ceramics with the fluorite structure, a large concentration of anion vacancies and anelastic behavior, may constitute a previously unknown class of electrostrictors.  相似文献

We consider the design of explicit rate-based congestion control for high-speed communication networks and show that this can be formulated as a stochastic control problem where the controls of different users enter the system dynamics with different delays. We discuss the existence, derivation and the structure of the optimal controller, as well as of suboptimal controllers of the certainty-equivalent type — a terminology that is precisely defined in the paper for the specific context of the congestion control problem considered. We consider, in particular, two certainty-equivalent controllers which are easy to implement, and show that they are stabilizing, i.e., they lead to bounded infinite-horizon average cost, and stable queue dynamics. Further, these controllers perform well in simulations.  相似文献

The increasing incidence of trauma in medicine brings with it new demands on the materials used for the surgical treatment of bone fractures. Titanium, its alloys, and steel are used worldwide in the treatment of skeletal injuries. These metallic materials, although inert, are often removed after the injured bone has healed. The second-stage procedure—the removal of the plates and screws—can overwhelm patients and overload healthcare systems. The development of suitable absorbable metallic materials would help us to overcome these issues. In this experimental study, we analyzed an extruded Zn-0.8Mg-0.2Sr (wt.%) alloy on a rabbit model. From this alloy we developed screws which were implanted into the rabbit tibia. After 120, 240, and 360 days, we tested the toxicity at the site of implantation and also within the vital organs: the liver, kidneys, and brain. The results were compared with a control group, implanted with a Ti-based screw and sacrificed after 360 days. The samples were analyzed using X-ray, micro-CT, and a scanning electron microscope. Chemical analysis revealed only small concentrations of zinc, strontium, and magnesium in the liver, kidneys, and brain. Histologically, the alloy was verified to possess very good biocompatibility after 360 days, without any signs of toxicity at the site of implantation. We did not observe raised levels of Sr, Zn, or Mg in any of the vital organs when compared with the Ti group at 360 days. The material was found to slowly degrade in vivo, forming solid corrosion products on its surface.  相似文献
