To date no single gas chromatographic method can simultaneously measure all fatty acids (FA), including trans-FA (TFA), that are contained in dairy products, partially hydrogenated oils (PHO), and refined vegetable oils. Using 100% poly(biscyanopropyl siloxane) capillary columns, ruminant and dairy fats are preferentially analyzed by applying temperature programs that separate short chain FA, but not trans-18:3 from 20:1. Refined vegetable oils and PHO are preferentially analyzed by applying isothermal elutions that provide quantification of all 18 carbon TFA including trans-18:3 FA, but not of all short chain FA. In this short communication, we propose a temperature program method capable of simultaneously measuring short chain FA and all 18 carbon TFA including trans-18:3 by applying a negative temperature gradient after the elution of trans-18:1. The accurate analysis of complex fats and oils often requires combining data from multiple GC separations, fractionation by LC prior to GC analysis, and identifying fatty acids or confirming their identities by mass spectrometry and synthetic reference materials. Comprehensive two dimensional gas chromatography markedly increases the number of resolved fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) in a single separation experiment by combining the separations of two capillary columns. The addition of a capillary reducer in front of the second capillary column provides unique separation patterns and structural information for fatty acids based on simple elution rules. 相似文献
The filler networking process promoted by multiwalled CNTs is studied in neat and CB‐filled poly(1,4‐cis‐isoprene) matrices. TEM analysis, tensile, dynamic‐mechanical, and electrical measurements reveal that the CNTs form a filler network at low concentration in neat PI and a continuous hybrid filler network at a lower CNT concentration in the presence of CB, with a remarkable increase of the nonlinear dynamic‐mechanical behavior of the nanocomposites at low deformation. A synergistic effect between CB and CNTs is demonstrated. The addition of CNTs to the CB‐filled PI matrix leads to initial modulus values much larger than those calculated by simple addition of the two initial moduli of the composites containing only CB and only CNTs, respectively.
The fatty acids contained in marine oils or products are traditionally analyzed by gas chromatography using capillary columns coated with polyethylene glycol phases. Recent reports indicate that 100 % cyanopropyl siloxane phases should also be used when the analyzed samples contain trans fatty acids. We investigated the separation of the fatty acid methyl esters prepared from menhaden oil using the more polar SLB-IL111 (200 m × 0.25 mm) ionic liquid capillary column and the chromatographic conditions previously optimized for the separation of the complex mixture of fatty acid methyl esters prepared from milk fat. Identifications of fatty acids were achieved by applying Ag+-HPLC fractionation and GC-TOF/MS analysis in CI+ mode with isobutane as the ionization reagent. Calculation of equivalent chain lengths confirmed the assignment of double bond positions. This methodology allowed the identification of 125 fatty acids in menhaden oil, including isoprenoid and furanoid fatty acids, and the novel 7-methyl-6-hexadecenoic and 7-methyl-6-octadecenoic fatty acids. The chromatographic conditions applied in this study showed the potential of separating in a single 90-min analysis, among others, the short chain and trans fatty acids contained in dairy products, and the polyunsaturated fatty acids contained in marine products. 相似文献
The post-buckling behaviour of compressed composite laminates in presence of a through-width delamination is considered. A 2D finite element procedure is proposed as an effective and practical tool for the nonlinear analysis of the examined structure. An incremental analysis is performed with the introduction of contact constrains to fully account for the real behaviour of the structure. Some illustrating examples are then presented which show the effect of the geometry of delamination on the post-buckling behaviour. Local and global buckled geometries of the deformed structures are also shown corresponding to different levels of the compressive loading. 相似文献

Cogeneration system planning spans a multi-year time interval and is affected by various sources of uncertainty, mainly depending on the evolution of energy loads and prices. The high level of uncertainty requires assessing the convenience of adopting predefined technological alternatives in different scenarios of variation of the uncertain variables. This paper introduces an original framework based on identifying the characteristics of small-scale and large-scale uncertainties, whereby a comprehensive approach based on multiple (long-, medium- and short-term) time frames is formulated. Medium-term time periods exhibiting small variations of both electrical and thermal load patterns are grouped together and represented through electrical/thermal load and electricity price correlated random variables (RVs). A Monte Carlo simulation of the cogeneration plant operation is carried out in the short-term by extracting the RVs for each group from multivariate Normal probability distributions. Real-data testing results of a real-time nonlinear freeway traffic state estimator are presented with a particular focus on its adaptive features. The pursued general approach to the real-time adaptive estimation of complete traffic state in freeway stretches or networks is based on stochastic nonlinear macroscopic traffic flow modeling and extended Kalman filtering. One major innovative aspect of the estimator is the real-time joint estimation of traffic flow variables (flows, mean speeds, and densities) and some important model parameters (free speed, critical density, and capacity), which leads to four significant features of the traffic state estimator: (i) avoidance of prior model calibration; (ii) automatic adaptation to changing external conditions (e.g. weather and lighting conditions, traffic composition, control measures); (iii) enabling of incident alarms; (iv) enabling of detector fault alarms. The purpose of the reported real-data testing is, first, to demonstrate feature (i) by investigating some basic properties of the estimator and, second, to explore some adaptive capabilities of the estimator that enable features (ii)-(iv). The achieved testing results are quite satisfactory and promising for further work and field applications. 相似文献
Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) was melt blended with several liquid-crystalline polymers (LCPs), both with and without Ti(OBu)4 catalyst. The LCPs, referred to as VA, LC5, LC3, and SBH, respectively, were Vectra-A950, Rodrun LC-5000, Rodrun LC-3000, and a laboratory copolyester of sebacic acid (S), 4,4′-diacetoxybiphenyl (B), and 4-acetoxybenzoic acid (H). Their degree of aromaticity decreases in that order. The phase behavior and the morphology of the blends were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy. All the LCPs retard the dynamic crystallization of PET. The lower the LCPs degree of aromaticity, the more pronounced was the effect. It was not possible to obtain any evidence of ester exchange reactions by the reactive blending of PET with VA. On the contrary, appreciable changes of phase behavior and morphology were observed under comparable conditions for the other blends. With LC5 and LC3, the transesterification process predominantly involved the ET-rich phase of those polymers. Extensive transesterification occurred between PET and SBH, as proven by the gradual formation of a quasi homogeneous material, with lowered temperatures and enthalpies of fusion and crystallization. For blends with more than 25% SBH, homogenization is followed by the segregation of a new, highly aromatic phase. 相似文献
