ABSTRACT: Nanosized (5 to 10 nm) amorphous and crystalline nanocondensates, i.e., metallic α-phase of Zn-Cu alloy in face-centered cubic structure and (Zn,H)-codoped cuprite (Cu2O) with high-pressure-favored close-packed sublattice, were formed by pulsed laser ablation on bulk Cu65Zn35 in water and characterized by X-ray/electron diffractions and optical spectroscopy. The as-fabricated hybrid nanocondensates are darkish and showed photoluminescence in the whole visible region. Further dwelling of such nanocondensates in water caused progressive formation of a rice-like assembly of (Zn,H)-codoped tenorite (CuO) nanoparticles with (001), (100), and {111} preferred orientations, (111) tilt boundary, yellowish color, and minimum bandgap narrowing down to ca. 2.7 eV for potential photocatalytic applications. 相似文献

Galvanic replacement reactions have been widely used to transform solution dispersed silver template structures into intricate nanoshell geometries. Here, we report on the use of these same reactions to form hollow substrate-supported Au-Ag nanoshells from silver templates having a heteroepitaxial relationship with the underlying single crystal substrate. The structures obtained exhibit a nanohut geometry, show highly tunable plasmonic properties and are formed as periodic arrays using a lithography-free technique. When removed from the substrate the inverted nanohuts appear as nanobowls with a notch in the rim. The study lays the groundwork for wafer-based devices utilizing nanoshells located at site-specific locations. 相似文献

Cordierite-based glass ceramics of the 2MgO2Al2O35SiO2 composition with t-ZrO2 (3 mol% Y2O3-ZrO2) and P2O5 addition, was heat-treated isothermally and isochronically for crystallization studies. Major crystalline phases incurred by the heat treatment were t-ZrO2 and -cordierite. Surface nucleation predominated when edge and corner nucleation in these samples were suppressed regardless of their radii of curvature. Crystallization began with the formation of -quartz S.S. and its transformation to -cordierite was followed by prolonged heating. Cellular growth of -cordierite on the surface of the quenched glass plates, gave a linear kinetics. The activation energy for cellular growth was 410 kJ mol–1. 相似文献

SEM study of diversity in the cyst surface topography of nine parthenogenetic Artemia (Crustacea: Anostraca) populations from China

The cysts of nine Chinese populations of parthenogenetic Artemia were studied by scanning electron microscope. In the 270 cysts examined, 15 different morphological patterns were recognized with most of them not recorded in previous studies and the “tubercled shell surface” being the most common pattern. Results also displayed high intrapopulation variability, with the maximum of 11 patterns (in 30 cysts) recorded from the Barkol population. No positive correlation between the diversity of cyst shell patterns and ploidy compositions was found. Principal components analysis suggests higher similarity among coastal populations than among inland populations, which may be attributed to the identity of physicochemical conditions among coastal salterns and dissimilarity among inland saline lakes. Preparation of polypropylene hybrid composite consisting of wheat straw and clay as reinforcement materials was investigated. The composite samples were prepared through melt blending method using a co-rotating twin-screw extruder. The composition of constituents of hybrid composite such as percentages of wheat straw, clay and maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene as a coupling agent was varied in order to investigate their influence on water absorption and flexural properties. The XRD analysis of composite samples containing clay showed shift in d001 peak to lower 2θ indicating slight intercalation of polymer in clay sheets. The results of the study indicate that the increase in wheat straw and clay content in a composite increases the flexural modulus and reduces the resistance for water absorption. The increase in PP-MA coupling agent also increases the flexural modulus and resistance for water absorption. The morphological study by scanning electron microscope reveals that the addition of coupling agent increases the interfacial adhesion between the fibers and polymer matrix which is evidenced further from increased flexural modulus. Further, the particle size of wheat straw was analyzed before and after extrusion in order to investigate the effect of extrusion on wheat straw dimensions. The addition of clay as additional filler had no significant role on water absorption and flexural properties of the composite. 相似文献

The challenges we face in transitioning to a global production of biomass as renewable feedstock sources in a way that is both economical feasible environmentally sustainable are ubiquitous. In this study, the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) was used to predict the possible long-term environmental implications, specifically water quality, due to large-scale bioenergy cropping system expansion based on four landuse scenarios and 15 bioenergy crop rotations for four watersheds, totaling 244 model simulations. The study area consists of four watersheds totaling 53,358 km2 located in Michigan. The results suggest that perennial grass species are the most suitable for large-scale implementation, whereas traditional intensive row crops should be implemented with caution on such a broad scale. Row crops also had the highest increases of high priority areas for sediment, nitrogen, and phosphorus. Based on the data from this study, it is not recommended that marginal land be converted to any bioenergy rotation in areas with preexisting high nitrogen levels. Statistical analyses demonstrate that perennial grass species significantly reduce sediment on all lands except marginal lands. With the exception of row crops cultivated on marginal lands and all agricultural land, the majority of bioenergy crops significantly reduce total phosphorus loads. 相似文献
