In the present study, grape seed samples (Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Franc, Cinsault, Merlot, Shiraz) were treated with 1.0, 3.0, 5.0, and 7.0 kGy of gamma radiation. Effect of irradiation dose on free fatty acids (FFA), peroxide value (PV), sterol, fatty acid composition, phenolic content, antioxidant activity of the seed oils, and chemical (dry matter, fat, ash, total sugar, invert sugar) changes of grape seeds were determined. Regarding fatty acid composition, oleic acid (C18:1) and linoleic acid (C18:2) levels decreased. β-sitosterol content with a highest percentage among sterols in grape seed oils decreased due to gamma irradiation. Generally gamma irradiation increased free fatty acids and peroxide value of the oils; however, phenolic content and antioxidant capacity of grape seeds decreased.  相似文献

In situ synthesis of conductive polymers, poly(Aniline) (p(An)), poly(Pyrrole) (p(Py)), and poly(Thiophene) (p(Th)) within network of superporous cryogels with tunable functionalities as neutral poly(acrylamide) (p(AAm), anionic poly(acrylic acid) (p(AAc)), and cationic poly(4-vinylpyridine) (p(4-VP)) were carried out via oxidation polymerization technique. The highest conductivity values were measured for p(AAm)/p(An) semi-IPN cryogel with 1.4 × 10?2 S.cm?1 and for p(AAc)/p(Py) cryogel with 3.2 × 10?4 S.cm?1. In addition, to increase the amounts of conductive polymers within cryogel networks, reloading/polymerization cycle was carried out thrice, and found that there is no significant increase in the amounts of conductive polymers and the measured conductivity values. The prepared p(AAm), p(AAc), and p(4-VP) cryogels and their corresponding p(An), p(Py), and p(Th) composites were tested potential sensor materials against HCl and NH3 vapor. The changes on conductivities for bare p(4-VP) cryogel were observed as 70 and 52-fold increase upon HCl and NH3 gas treatment, respectively. The p(4-VP)/p(An) p(An) composites showed 7-fold conductivity decrease upon the treatments of HCl and NH3 vapors. The p(AAm)/p(Py) composite responded 2-fold increase upon HCl vapor exposure and 50-fold decrease upon NH3 vapor exposure. Furthermore, p(AAm)/p(Th) cryogel composite responded 7-fold decrease and 300-fold increase in their conductivities upon HCl and NH3 vapor exposure, respectively.

The main objective of this study is to determine the stress intensity factors associated with a circumferential crack in a thin-walled cylinder subjected to quasi-static thermal loading. The cylinder is assumed to be a functionally graded material. In order to make the problem analytically tractable, the thin-walled cylinder is modeled as a layer on an elastic foundation whose thermal and mechanical properties are exponential functions of the thickness coordinate. Hence a plane strain crack problem is obtained. First temperature and thermal stress distributions for a crack-free layer are determined. Then using these solutions, the crack problem is reduced to a local perturbation problem where the only nonzero loads are the crack surface tractions. Both internal and edge cracks are considered. Stress intensity factors are computed as functions of crack geometry, material properties, and time.  相似文献

A radiation code based on the method of lines (MOL) solution of the discrete ordinates method (DOM) for transient three-dimensional radiative heat transfer in rectangular enclosures for use in conjunction with a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code based on the same approach was developed. Assessment of the predictive accuracy of the code by benchmarking its steady-state solutions against exact solutions on one- and three-dimensional test problems shows that the MOL solution of the DOM provides accurate and computationally efficient solutions for radiative heat fluxes and source terms and can be used with confidence in conjunction with CFD codes for transient problems.  相似文献

Bimetallic-based RuCo and RuCu catalysts, supported on γ-Al2O3 (1.5 wt% Ru as theoretical value), were synthesized by polyol method. Ru, Co, and Cu acetylacetonates were used as precursors and ethylene glycol as reducing agent. The as-synthesized catalysts were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD and XPS, and tested in ammonia-borane (NH3BH3) hydrolytic dehydrogenation at variable amount of catalyst (10-30 wt%), concentration of NH3BH3 (1.0-0.65 M), and temperatures (50-65 °C). The reactions were monitored by volumetric (inverted burette) and spectroscopic methods (11B and 11B{1H} NMR). It was found that the best bimetallic catalysts are those having a molar ratio Ru:Co and Ru:Cu of 1:1 such as RuCo > RuCu ∼ Ru. They, i.e. RuCo and RuCu, consist of nanosized spherical particles of Ru0Co(OH)2 and Ru0Cu0, respectively. Kinetic investigation highlights similar rate laws with activation energies of 47 kJ mol−1 and 52 kJ mol−1, respectively, and, for both, reaction orders of 1 versus both the NH3BH3 and the catalytic free sites concentrations. 11B and 11B{1H} NMR investigation confirmed (i) a more effective NH3BH3 hydrolytic dehydrogenation in the presence of RuCo catalyst even though a loss of activity after the first run was observed for both catalysts, and (ii) a rapid NH3BH3 hydrolysis with initial formation of B(OH)4, which besides favors equilibriums of formation of polyborates. These results are reported and the reaction mechanism discussed herein.  相似文献

Substantial reductions in vibrating micromechanical resonator series motional resistance Rx have been attained by mechanically coupling and exciting a parallel array of corner-coupled polysilicon square plate resonators. Using this technique with seven resonators, an effective Rx of 480 Omega has been attained at 70 MHz, which is more than 5.9X smaller than the 2.82 kOmega exhibited by a stand-alone transverse-mode corner-supported square resonator, and all this achieved while still maintaining an effective Q>9000. This method for Rx-reduction is superior to methods based on brute force scaling of electrode-to-resonator gaps or dc-bias increases, because it allows a reduction in Rx without sacrificing linearity, and thereby breaks the Rx versus dynamic range tradeoff often seen when scaling. Ammonia borane NH3BH3 (19.5 wt% H) is able to release hydrogen by hydrolysis in the presence of a catalyst in ambient conditions. This reaction has received considerable attention since 2006, with special focus on the catalytic material. In comparison, important aspects like the nature of the hydrolysis by-product(s) have been much less investigated while a good identification of the borate(s) is required for approaching recyclability. In this context, we present a work based on a systematic approach that aims at characterizing the hydrolysate, its stability in time, and the borate(s) recovered after drying. It is shown that the hydrolysate consists in aqueous B(OH)3 and that the solution (catalyst-free) is stable when stored 6 months under argon atmosphere at 30 °C. The extraction of the water from the hydrolysate was performed at different conditions (vacuum, or air; from −50 to 500 °C). It is observed that the higher the temperature, the lower the hydration degree of the borates. The total dehydration, with the formation of B2O3, can be obtained at heating at 500 °C. The main problem with the hydrolysate is the release of NH3 during the drying stage. A solution is to remove NH3 after hydrolysis and to dry the NH3-free hydrolysate. By this way, H3B3O6 forms. Hence, B2O3 and H3B3O6 could be recovered and recycled into ammonia borane. Besides the identification of the borates, the suitability of ammonia borane for hydrogen production by hydrolysis is discussed, especially in comparison with sodium borohydride NaBH4.  相似文献

Recently, strategies beyond pharmacological and psychological treatments have been developed for the management of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Specifically, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has been employed as an adjunctive treatment in cases of treatment-refractory OCD. Here, we investigate six weeks of low frequency rTMS, applied bilaterally and simultaneously over the sensory motor area, in OCD patients in a randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial. Twenty-two participants were randomly enrolled into the treatment (ACTIVE = 10) or placebo (SHAM = 12) groups. At each of seven visits (baseline; day 1 and weeks 2, 4, and 6 of treatment; and two and six weeks after treatment) the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS) was administered. At the end of the six weeks of rTMS, patients in the ACTIVE group showed a clinically significant decrease in Y-BOCS scores compared to both the baseline and the SHAM group. This effect was maintained six weeks following the end of rTMS treatment. Therefore, in this sample, rTMS appeared to significantly improve the OCD symptoms of the treated patients beyond the treatment window. More studies need to be conducted to determine the generalizability of these findings and to define the duration of rTMS’ clinical effect on the Y-BOCS. Various methods can be applied to introduce additives to ceramic materials. Of these methods, mechanical mixing may not always be suitable to obtain a uniform distribution of the small quantities of additive within the structure, requiring colloidal methods to be applied for the purpose. The addition of manganese oxide to alumina powder has been studied using a colloidal method. The effect of the manganese addition on alumina microstructure and the later stages of the densification behaviour was investigated, together with the hardness and mechanical strength. No evidence of secondary phase formation was detected between the manganese cation and alumina powder for up to 0.5wt% manganese addition, suggesting that manganese is in solid solution with alumina. The microstructural evidence presented suggests that small quantities of a manganese addition to alumina enhance the densification process through the formation of fast diffusion paths within the crystalline structure, similar to the effect of TiO2 addition.  相似文献

Management of non-resectable pelvic tumours by intra-arterial local chemotherapy was shown to be beneficial but systemic toxicity limits its use. To overcome this problem isolated pelvic perfusion (IPP) was introduced as an alternative. This study summarizes our preliminary experience with IPP in the treatment of 18 non-resectable pelvic tumours [recurrent rectal adenocarcinoma (six), soft tissue sarcoma (STS) (five), bone tumour (three), epidermoid carcinoma (two), prostatic adenocarcinoma (one), malignant melanoma (one)]. Results of IPP were regarded as complete remission (CR), partial remission (PR), stable disease (SD) and disease progression (DP) according to the changes in three parameters including; scoring in pain, tumour marker and tumour size measurements. Complete and partial remission were established in five (27%) and seven (39%) patients respectively indicating a benefit ratio of 66%. Objective pain relief was encountered in 53% of the cases. All patients with STS had undergone further surgical treatment after IPP with successful curative resections in four. No residual tumour was found at the laparotomy of the fifth patient. Presenting symptom of the prostatic adenocarcinoma patient was symptomatic hypoglycaemia which resolved completely after IPP. To our knowledge, this represents the first case reported in the English literature in whom tumour related hypoglycaemia was successfully managed by IPP. In conclusion; management of non-resectable pelvic tumours by IPP seems to offer serious palliation and increase in the quality of life without any systemic toxicity. Our preliminary experience suggests even resectability may be achieved in a number of patients especially in those with STS.  相似文献
