Direct jet impingement boiling heat transfer operating at low flow rates is of great interest for the localized moderate heat fluxes from the targets with delicate mechanical structure, where the aggressive techniques such as high-speed jets are not suitable. Boiling heat transfer from an upward facing disk targeted by a falling jet was studied experimentally at different volumetric flow rates and various jet lengths. The working fluid was chosen to be the dielectric liquid HFE7100 and the heated spot was an 8-mm diameter disk. Using previous CHF correlations in their original form, valid at very low volumetric flow rates, results in large disagreements since it was found that variation in the jet length changes the boiling characteristics. It is demonstrated that although the circular hydraulic jump formation within the heater diameter may suppress the heat transfer under certain conditions, moving the jet closer to the target may significantly improve the boiling curves at the critical heat flux (CHF) regime. At low flow rates, the CHF increases as the jet length decreases while for moderate and high flow rates the boiling curves show approximately a universal behavior for different jet lengths. For such low flow rates, the effect of jet length on boiling curves was shown to be related to the variation of the cross section of the falling jet and the formation of hydraulic jump at radial distances smaller than the heater diameter. The current CHF results for different jet lengths are correlated by including the effect of jet length in the previous correlation proposed by Sharan and Lienhard. 相似文献

This paper proposes a decentralized market-based model for long-term capacity investment decisions in a liberalized electricity market with significant wind power generation. In such an environment, investment and construction decisions are based on price signal feedbacks and imperfect foresight of future conditions in electricity market. System dynamics concepts are used to model structural characteristics of power market such as, long-term firms’ behavior and relationships between variables, feedbacks and time delays. For conventional generation units, short-term price feedback for generation dispatching of forward market is implemented as well as long-term price expectation for profitability assessment in capacity investment. For wind power generation, a special framework is proposed in which generation firms are committed depending on the statistical nature of wind power. The method is based on the time series stochastic simulation process for prediction of wind speed using historical and probabilistic data. The auto-correlation nature of wind speed and the correlation with demand fluctuations are modeled appropriately. The Monte Carlo simulation technique is employed to assess the effect of demand growth rate and wind power uncertainties. Such a decision model enables the companies to find out the possible consequences of their different investment decisions. Different regulatory policies and market conditions can also be assessed by ISOs and regulators to check the performance of market rules. A case study is presented exhibiting the effectiveness of the proposed model for capacity expansion of electricity markets in which the market prices and the generation capacities are fluctuating due to uncertainty of wind power generation. 相似文献

based on swing angle information. This paper presents a novel method that uses load cell sensors for swing angle estimation.
According to our proposed method, a damping signal is generated and added to the speed reference in order to suppress the
suspended load sway. Conventional methods of swing angle estimation are based on measurement by camera vision, acceleration,
or some other type of sensor. Compared to conventional methods, the proposed method based on load cell is simpler to build

Currently, due to reduction of oil reservoirs and the increasing need for oil as the main source for world energy, the need for production of heavy oil reservoirs is inevitable. The main purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of some operational and reservoir parameters and their impact on thermal and productive efficiency of thermal process of steam injection and quality of crude oil. In order to model the process, Eclipse-300 simulator was employed. Detection of these parameters, in addition to determining the best production scenario, can lead to the use of this method with better economic conditions. Hence, the results obtained from this study show that the optimal values obtained for operational parameters of stream injection such as steam quality, steam injection pressure, injection rate and well completion injection depth. The simulation results show that the use of optimal values of steam injection parameters can enhance efficiency of steam injection method and can make this method considered as third EOR method in heavy oil reservoirs than previously known in the petroleum industry. 相似文献

Researchers have examined different approaches to improve damage tolerance of discontinuously reinforced aluminum (DRA). In this study, three-layer DRA laminates containing two exterior layers of Al6061-15 vol.% SiCp and an interlayer of Al1050 were fabricated by hot roll bonding. Interfacial adhesion between the layers was controlled by means of rolling stain. The results of shear test revealed that, the bonding strength of laminates was influenced by number of rolling passes. Considering this effect, the role of interfacial bonding on the toughness of laminates was studied under three-point bending in the crack divider orientation. The quasi-static toughness of the laminates was greater than that of the monolithic DRA. Plastic deformation of the ductile interlayer and interfacial delamination were found as the major sources of energy absorption in this fracture process. It was shown that interfacial adhesion in these laminate does not alter the initiation energy in quasi-static test. Propagation energy under same loading condition, however, illustrated significant sensitivity to the interfacial bonding. The results of the current study reveal that improving the interfacial adhesion by means of rolling strain eliminates the ease of plastic deformation of the ductile interlayer and thus reduces the contribution of this mechanism in quasi-static toughness of the laminate. 相似文献

Pistachios have been roasted following the Iranian traditional method (soaking in salty water, drying and roasting at 135 °C). Three Iranian pistachio cultivars (Ahmad Aghaei, Akbari and Kaleghouchi) were compared for their volatile compositions, colour and odour intensity. Lightness decreased in the course of roasting, which resulted from Maillard reaction. Raw pistachios had lower concentrations of most volatiles than roasted. A total of twenty‐six compounds were detected in roasted pistachios; these included aldehydes, terpenes, alcohols and only two pyrazines and one furan. These mixtures of volatiles implied that the Iranian roasting system is very soft, and samples retained most of the vegetable notes from fresh pistachios and some roasted notes were generated as well (from 2‐ethyl‐5‐methylpyrazine and 2,6‐dimethyl‐3‐ethylpyrazine). Sample from cultivar Akbari presented higher odour intensity than those by the other two cultivars, due mainly to higher concentrations of pyrazines developed during the roasting step. 相似文献

The aim of this work was to study the influence of methacrylic acid (MAA) as a comonomer and the application of a molecular imprinting technique on the loading and release properties of weakly crosslinked 2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) hydrogels, with a view toward their use as reloadable soft contact lenses for the administration of prednisolone acetate (PA). The hydrogels were prepared with HEMA (95.90–98.30 mol %) as a backbone monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (140 mM) as a crosslinker, and MAA (0, 50, 100, or 200 mM) as a functional monomer. Different PA/MAA molar ratios (0, 1 : 8, 1 : 6, and 1 : 4) in the feed composition of the hydrogels were also applied to study the influence of the molecular imprinting technique on their binding properties. The hydrogels (0.4 mm thick) were synthesized by thermal polymerization at 60°C for 24 h in a polypropylene mold. The hydrogels were then characterized by the determination of their swelling and binding properties in water. Their loading and release properties were also studied in 0.9% NaCl and artificial lachrymal fluid. Increasing the MAA content of the hydrogel and applying the molecular imprinting technique led to an increase in the loading capacity of the hydrogel. The optimized imprinted hydrogel showed the highest affinity for PA and the greatest ability to control the release process, sustaining it for 48 h. The results obtained clearly indicate that the incorporation of MAA as a comonomer increased the PA loading capacity of hydrogel. Our data showed that the molecular imprinting technique also had a significant effect on the loading and release properties of the hydrogels. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Control charts are the most popular statistical process control tools used to monitor process changes. When a control chart indicates an out‐of‐control signal it means that the process has changed. However, control chart signals do not indicate the real time of process changes, which is essential for identifying and removing assignable causes and ultimately improving the process. Identifying the real time of the change is known as the change‐point estimation problem. Most of the traditional methods of estimating the process change point are developed based on the assumption that the process follows a normal distribution with known parameters, which is seldom true. In this paper, we propose clustering techniques to estimate Shewhart control chart change points. The proposed approach does not depend on the true values of the parameters and even the distribution of the process variables. Accordingly, it is applicable to both phase‐I and phase‐II of normal and non‐normal processes. At the end, we discuss the performance of the proposed method in comparison with the traditional procedures through extensive simulation studies. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献
