Flexible ultrasonic transducers (UTs) consisting of a metal foil, a piezoelectric ceramic film, and a top electrode have been developed. The flexibility is realized owing to the porosity of piezoelectric film and the thinness of metal foil. In this paper, the stainless steel (SS), lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT)/PZT composite and silver paste were chosen as metal foil, piezoelectric film, and top electrode materials, respectively. The SS foil serves as both substrate and bottom electrode. The PZT/PZT piezoelectric composite film is made by the sol-gel spray technique. PZT/PZT films of thicknesses from 40 to 70 microm were fabricated onto SS foils. The capability of these flexible sensors operated in the pulse-echo mode for nondestructive testing on flat and curved surfaces of different materials at room temperature and 160 degrees C has been demonstrated. Numerical simulations of the effects of the metal foil thickness on the ultrasonic performance of flexible UTs also were carried out, and the results are in reasonable agreement with experimental data. In addition, a PZT/PZT flexible transducer showed a signal strength comparable with that obtained by a commercial room temperature broad bandwidth transducer. 相似文献

The rechargeable lithium-ion cell is an advanced energy-storage system. However, high cost, safety hazards, and chemical instability prohibit its use in large-scale applications. An alternative cathode material, LiFePO(4), solves these problems, but has a kinetic problem involving strong electron/hole localization. One reason for this is believed to be the limited carrier density in the fixed monovalent Fe(3+)PO(4)/LiFe(2+)PO(4) two-phase electrode reaction in LixFePO4. Here, we provide experimental evidence that LixFePO4, at room temperature, can be described as a mixture of the Fe(3+)/Fe(2+) mixed-valent intermediate LialphaFePO4 and Li1-betaFePO4 phases. Using powder neutron diffraction, the site occupancy numbers for lithium in each phase were refined to be alpha=0.05 and 1-beta=0.89. The mechanism of intracellular calcium ions (Ca(2+)) increase in chicken myoblasts was studied using histological, immunohistochemical, immunoblotting and Ca(2+) imaging techniques. Mononuclear myoblasts at embryonic day 12 (E12) contained myofibrils in the peripheral cytoplasm, and the sarcoplasmic reticulum was observed in the cytoplasm. Several Ca(2+)-related receptors, namely acetylcholine (ACh) receptors, dihydropyridine receptors (DHPRs) and ryanodine receptors (RyRs), were detected in the tissue as early as E12. Western blotting analyses detected one band corresponding to RyR subtype 3 (RyR3) at E12 and two bands corresponding to RyR1 and RyR3 after E13. Ca(2+) imaging of mononuclear myoblasts in vitro revealed an intense Ca(2+)-increase response to ACh stimulation, and this effect was abolished after EGTA addition to the culture medium. Nifedipine treatment also led to a lack of Ca(2+) increase in response to ACh stimulation, while ryanodine treatment led to a weak Ca(2+)-increase response. On the other hand, multinuclear myoblasts showed a Ca(2+)-increase response to ACh stimulation in the presence of not only EGTA but also nifedipine, although ryanodine treatment led to a lack of Ca(2+) increase. These results suggest that the mechanism of Ca(2+) increase in mononuclear myoblasts involves extracellular Ca(2+) entry through DHPRs, which is amplified by Ca(2+) release from the cytoplasmic Ca(2+) store, while multinuclear myoblasts mainly depend on Ca(2+) release from the cytoplasmic Ca(2+) store. 相似文献

A method for fabricating epoxy resin films dispersing the surface‐modified barium titanate (BT) particles (BT‐epoxy resin composite films) are proposed. BT particles with a size of 7.8 nm and a crystal size of 8.6 nm were synthesized with a complex alkoxide method. To introduce epoxy groups on the BT particle surface, the BT particles were surface‐modified with 2‐(3,4‐epoxycyclohexyl)‐ethyltrimethoxysilane. A precursor solution, which was prepared by prereacting 2,2‐bis(4‐glycidyloxyphenyl)propane (BGPP) and phthalic anhydride in 4‐butyrolactone and adding the surface‐modified BT particles to the prereacting solution, was spin‐coated on glass substrates to fabricate the composite films. An increase in BT volume fraction in film increased dielectric constant of the composite film while keeping dissipation factor below 0.03. The dielectric constant attained 10.8 at a BT volume fraction of 30% in film that was around twice higher than pure epoxy resin film. POLYM. This report describes the results and operating status of ground lifetime testing and achievements on orbit of coolers for space use. Ground lifetime tests of coolers of three types were conducted to demonstrate their long life and reliability. Three single-stage Stirling coolers were tested for 89,016, 71,871 and 68,273 h from 1998, a two-stage Stirling cooler was tested for 72,906 h, and a 4-K class cooler with a two-stage Stirling cooler and a Joule–Thomson cooler was tested for over 2.5 years. After lifetime tests were completed, a few coolers were investigated to determine the cause of the cooling performance degradation. Additionally, the filled gas of the coolers was analyzed. These coolers have shown good results on orbit. Three single-stage Stirling coolers were carried on the X-ray astronomical satellite “SUZAKU” (launched in July 2005), Japanese lunar polar orbiter “KAGUYA” (launched in September 2007), and the Japanese Venus Climate Orbiter “AKATSUKI” (launched in June 2010). Two units of a two-stage Stirling cooler were carried on the infrared astronomical satellite “AKARI” launched in February 2006. A 4-K class cooler was carried on the Superconducting Submillimeter-Wave Limb-Emission Sounder (SMILES) aboard the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM) of the International Space Station (ISS). Nanoparticles of N,N'-bis(n-alkyl)tetracarbonatenaphthalenediimide (NDI) were adsorbed on single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) wires dispersed on a SiO(2) substrate. The electrical properties were measured along the long axis of the SWNTs, and in all cases through the nanoparticles showed rectification in semiconducting I-V curve. The plateau width of the I-V curve through the NDI nanoparticles on metallic SWNTs decreased as the particle size increased, while the rectification ratio increased. The conduction mechanism was changed from tunneling conduction to Schottky-like conduction and their boundary is at about 3 nm diameter. 相似文献

The processing of a polyelectrolyte (whose functionality is derived from its ionized functional groups) into a nanofiber may improve its functionality and yield multiple functionalities. However, the electrospinning of nanofibers from polyelectrolytes is imperfect because polyelectrolytes differ considerably from neutral polymers in their rheological properties. In our study, we attempt to solve this problem by applying a voltage of opposite polarity to charges on a polyelectrolyte. The application of this ‘countervoltage’ can temporarily mask or screen a specific rheological property of the polyelectrolyte, making it behave as a neutral polymer. The objective of this study is to evaluate effects of autofrettage on durability of composite cylinders subjected to impact loading. Impact tests and damage observation were performed on the composite cylinders with and without autofrettage. Internal pressure tests were also conducted on the cylinders after impact tests. Simulated cycle tests were conducted on the rectangular plate specimens simulated as composite cylinders after impact tests. For the composite cylinder with autofrettage, absorbed energy became smaller, which was due to suppression of the damages, such as delamination. As a result, residual strength became larger and fatigue life became longer. It was clarified that CFRP composite cylinders with proper autofrettage were superior in the impact resistance. 相似文献

The objectives of the development of the thermodynamic database MALT are described together with its main characteristic features. The database, which contains about 5000 species, also composes software for calculation of chemical equilibria and construction of generalized chemical potential diagrams. Discussion is made on the quality of the thermodynamic data to be used in the advanced software for calculating complex chemical equilibria in multicomponent systems and the importance of the chemical potential diagrams for checking the interconsistency of data in a visual manner is stressed. 相似文献
