Polyimide (PI)/silica hybrid membranes with high contact angles were prepared through the in situ sol–gel process. The precursor, poly(amic acid) with controlled block chain length, was synthesized using 4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA), 3,3′,4,4′‐benzophenone‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA) and 3‐aminopropyl‐trimethoxysilane (APrTMOS) or 3‐aminopropyldimethylethoxysilane (APDiMOS). And then, phenyltrimethoxysilane (PTS) or tetramethoxysilane (TMOS) or methyltrimethoxysilane (MTrMOS) was respectively, added to the above polyamic acid and mixed thoroughly. Following curing reaction, the PI/silica hybrid membranes with different cross‐linkages, silica content, and hydrophobic properties were prepared. The effect on the formation of PI imide ring during imidization reaction is increased as the increase of silanes content and characterized by frequency shiftment and absorbance ratio of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) measurements. All the hybrid membranes show high transparency though with high silica contents. The storage modulus, tan δ, and damping intensity by DMA measurements are all correlated with silane content or block chain length. And all these membranes with silane content possess high contact angle as compared to pure PI without any silanes added and the contact angles increase with increasing the silane content. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The equilibrium and kinetics of solvent extraction of Cu2+ from aqueous solutions containing equimolar EDTA with Aliquat 336 in n‐decanol and kerosene at 298 K were investigated. The concentrations of Cu2+ (8–50 mol m?3), Cl? (5–60 mol m?3), and Aliquat 336 (20–100 mol m?3) were varied. A semi‐empirical model with three parameters was proposed to describe the equilibrium behavior, in which the non‐idealities in both aqueous and organic phases were considered. Over the ranges studied, the model agreed reasonably well with the experimental data (standard deviation, 15%). The forward and backward reaction rate constants were determined as (5.31 ± 0.16)×10?6 m9/4 mol?3/4 s?1 and (2.62 ± 0.09)×10?7 s?1, respectively, at 298 K. An interfacial reaction mechanism was proposed, which revealed that the reaction between the chelated anions and trimeric amine molecules at the interface was rate limiting. The reaction of maleic anhydride (MAH) grafted onto propylene‐based copolymer (DP) without adding any initiator was conducted through ultrasound assisted extrusion in this article. The effects of ultrasound power, die temperature, and MAH content on the grafting degree and efficiency were studied. With increasing ultrasound power, the grafting degree and efficiency of DP‐g‐MAH increase. The presence of ultrasound with higher power and lower die temperature is beneficial to increase the grafting degree and efficiency. The increase of MAH content can increase the grafting degree but reduce the grafting efficiency. Based on the results of melt flow index, dynamical rheological, gel permeation chromatograph (GPC), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) tests, the mechanisms of the grafting reaction were proposed. From a high-throughput screening (HTS) hit with inhibitory activity against virus-induced cytophathic in the low micromolar range, we have developed a potent anti-influenza lead through careful optimization without compromising the drug-like properties of the compound. The scaleup behavior of blends exhibiting phase inversion during compounding in batch mixers was studied. Similar morphological changes were observed during compounding of polystyrene/polyethylene blends of different batch sizes ranging from 12g to 240g. The time to achieve a continuous phase of the major component, polystyrene, was shown to depend on the scale of the mixing device. Based on visual observation of the morphological changes, a constant nominal‐maximum‐shear‐rate scaleup condition was used. Upon a five‐fold increase in batch size the time to phase inversion increased by a factor of 3. This change is explained using a combination of the reduced specific area and reduced mechanical energy input under the experimental conditions. A novel blade design using modular triangular elements was constructed and results from radial and axial scaleup using the new blades are presented. Similarities between the triangular and roller blades are used to highlight the importance of the high‐shear region in determining the softening rate of the polystyrene pellets. The flexibility of the blade design was exploited to study the effect of blade configuration on the time to phase inversion. A relative stagger parameter is introduced to explain the observed dependence. Increasing the relative stagger decreased the stress transfer to the batch and increased the time to phase inversion. Implications of these results for mixing in the kneading sections of twin‐screw extruders is discussed. 相似文献

Previously, we reported the identification of a thiazolidinedione‐based adenosine monophosphate activated protein kinase (AMPK) activator, compound 1 (N‐[4‐({3‐[(1‐methylcyclohexyl)methyl]‐2,4‐dioxothiazolidin‐5‐ylidene}methyl)phenyl]‐4‐nitro‐3‐(trifluoromethyl)benzenesulfonamide), which provided a proof of concept to delineate the intricate role of AMPK in regulating oncogenic signaling pathways associated with cell proliferation and epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) in cancer cells. In this study, we used 1 as a scaffold to conduct lead optimization, which generated a series of derivatives. Analysis of the antiproliferative and AMPK‐activating activities of individual derivatives revealed a distinct structure–activity relationship and identified 59 (N‐(3‐nitrophenyl)‐N′‐{4‐[(3‐{[3,5‐bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]methyl}‐2,4‐dioxothiazolidin‐5‐ylidene)methyl]phenyl}urea) as the optimal agent. Relative to 1 , compound 59 exhibits multifold higher potency in upregulating AMPK phosphorylation in various cell lines irrespective of their liver kinase B1 (LKB1) functional status, accompanied by parallel changes in the phosphorylation/expression levels of p70S6K, Akt, Foxo3a, and EMT‐associated markers. Consistent with its predicted activity against tumors with activated Akt status, orally administered 59 was efficacious in suppressing the growth of phosphatase and tensin homologue (PTEN)‐null PC‐3 xenograft tumors in nude mice. Together, these findings suggest that 59 has clinical value in therapeutic strategies for PTEN‐negative cancer and warrants continued investigation in this regard. 相似文献

A bicalcium phosphate (BCP) bioceramic comprising α‐tricalcium phosphate (α‐TCP) and hydroxyapatite (HA) was prepared by a two‐step sintering. The microstructure of the BCP bioceramic was investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X‐ray diffraction. The in vitro osteoinductivity was evaluated by culturing MG63 osteoblast‐like cells on the BCP bioceramic. Results showed that the BCP bioceramic comprising α‐TCP and HA in a moderate ratio possessed a hardness of 93.7 Hv. The cells spread faster on the BCP bioceramic than those on the commercial HA. It suggested that the BCP bioceramic can enhance osteoinductivity in vivo. 相似文献

Light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) have the advantage of controllable light colors and provide the optimal lighting quality against various color attributes required in different environments. However, from the humanized design point of view, beside satisfying physical demands of people, it is also important to achieve satisfaction. With a good match between the LED lighting equipment and ambient colors, the space imagery that complies with psychological needs of human beings can be found. This is expected to become a new market direction for future lighting. In this study, the LED light source feature of adjustable correlated color temperature is used to match wall colors of typical commercial spaces and for the investigation and analysis of the impact of colors of light sources and environments on human beings. The measures of mental and subjective feelings of a group of people under various circumstances have also been investigated. Multivariate analysis of variance has been conducted on three color temperatures of light sources, six wall colors, and measures of five emotion adjectives, and the correlation between these three variables has been further investigated. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Consumer behavior is complicated. In the cosmetic market, personal intuition and fashion trends for color selection are guidelines for consumers. A systematic method for female facial skin‐color classification and an application in the makeup market are proposed in this study. In this article, face recognition with a large number of images is first discussed. Then, an innovative method to capture color at selected points is presented and complexion‐aggregated analysis is performed. This innovative method is an extension of face‐recognition theory. Images in RGB format are converted to CIELAB format during data collection and then Fuzzy C‐means theory is used to cluster and group the data. The results are classified and grouped in Lab value and RGB index. Two programs are created. The first program, “FaceRGB,” captures color automatically from images. The second program, “ColorFCM,” clusters and groups the skin‐color information. The results can be used to assist an expert system in the selection of customized colors during makeup and new‐product development. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: One-dimensional pure zinc oxide (ZnO) and Y-doped ZnO nanorod arrays have been successfully fabricated on the silicon substrate for comparison by a simple hydrothermal process at the low temperature of 90°C. The Y-doped nanorods exhibit the same c-axis-oriented wurtzite hexagonal structure as pure ZnO nanorods. Based on the results of photoluminescence, an enhancement of defect-induced green-yellow visible emission is observed for the Y-doped ZnO nanorods. The decrease of E2(H) mode intensity and increase of E1(LO) mode intensity examined by the Raman spectrum also indicate the increase of defects for the Y-doped ZnO nanorods. As compared to pure ZnO nanorods, Y-doped ZnO nanorods show a remarked increase of saturation magnetization. The combination of visible photoluminescence and ferromagnetism measurement results indicates the increase of oxygen defects due to the Y doping which plays a crucial role in the optical and magnetic performances of the ZnO nanorods. 相似文献
