BACKGROUND: The genus Fusarium comprises a diverse group of fungi including several species that produce mycotoxins in food commodities. In the present study, a multiplex PCR was standardised for the group‐specific detection of fumonisin‐producing and trichothecene‐producing strains of Fusarium species. Primers for genus‐level recognition of Fusarium spp. were designed from the internal transcribed spacer regions 1 and 2 of rDNA. Primers for group‐specific detection were designed from the tri5 and tri6 genes involved in trichothecene biosynthesis and the fum1 and fum13 genes involved in fumonisin biosynthesis. RESULTS: Among the various genera and their strains tested, all the 85 confirmed Fusarium strains were positive for rDNA gene and the rest stayed negative. From among the Fusarium strains, 15 had amplification for trichothecene‐ and 20 for fumonisin‐encoding genes. All PCR positive trichothecene chemotypes of Fusarium species tested were positive for chemical analysis but in the case of fumonisins, of the 20 PCR positive cultures, only 13 showed positive for chemical analysis by HPTLC. CONCLUSION: The assay described here provided a rapid and reliable detection of trichothecene‐ and fumonisin‐producing Fusarium directly from natural food grains and the results were always comparable with a conventional HPTLC detection method. Effect of ultrasound pretreatment on yield and functional properties of taro starch was investigated. A three-factor two-level factorial design was employed with treatment time (5 and 10 min), treatment cycle (0.5 and 1), and amplitude of ultrasound (50 and 100 %). Starch yield from ultrasonic treatment varied from 17.45 to 18.97 % compared to 15.29 % in conventional method. The highest yield of 18.97 % was obtained with treatment time 10 min, treatment cycle 0.5, and amplitude 50 %. A significant increase in swelling, solubility, pasting, and texture properties of the ultrasonically extracted starch was observed. A slight decrease in clarity of the starch pastes was also observed after ultrasonic pretreatment, but the differences were not much significant. Freeze-thaw stability of the ultrasonically extracted starches was found to be better compared to starch extracted using conventional method, making them suitable for foods subjected to refrigeration. The whiteness of the ultrasonically extracted starch powders was lower compared to conventionally extracted starch, but the differences were not statistically significant.  相似文献

Nanostructured copper hexacyanidoferrate has been synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, atomic absorption spectroscopy, thermal and infrared spectral studies. The transmission electron microscopic studies of the synthesized material showed that it consisted of irregular oval and rod shaped particles with a size range 70–100 nm. Nanostructured copper hexacyanidoferrate modified glassy carbon electrode was characterized by cyclic voltammetery and nanostructured copper hexacyanidoferrate–carbon nanotube composite material modified glassy carbon electrode has been used for electrocatalytic oxidation of salbutamol. The electrode modified with composite material was found to reduce the peak potential of oxidation of salbutamol by nearly 90 mV.  相似文献

Thiuram disulfides form synergistic combinations with thiazole and thiazole-based accelerators, namely, N-cyclohexy-2-benzothiazole sulfenamide (CBS), 2-mercaptobenzothiazole(MBT), and 2-mercaptobenzothiazyl disulfide (MBTS). Unfortunately, widely used thiuram disulfides (TD) generate carcinogenic N-nitrosoamine. It is reported that the nitrosamines from N-methylpiperazine and dibenzylamine are free from this menace. So, some investigations were carried out with the binary combinations of each of bis(N-methylpiperazino)thiuram disulfide (MPTD), tetrabenzylthiuram disulnde (TBzTD), and tetramethyl-thiuram disulfide (TMTD) separately with CBS, MBT, and MBTS. It was observed that all the TD are activated by the CBS, MBT, or MBTS in the combinations studied. The intensity of activation is manifested in the enhancement of torque, modulus, tensile strength, cure rate, hardness, and decrease of elongation at break values and is very much dependent upon the ratio of the accelerators used. Considering the torque, modulus, tensile strength, and the elongation at break values, it apears that MPTD and TBzTD are capable of competing with the hitherto unbeaten TMTD as suitable accelerators for the vulcanization of rubber. Some investigations in respect to heat- and age-resistance behavior have also been carried out and the observed differences in the activities of various binary combinations have been explained through a mechanism. The results obtained with filled vulcanizates indicate that the binary systems comprising TD and MBTS provide fruitful results of which the TBzTD–MBTS combination seems to give the best cure and physical data for practical vulcanizates. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

An analysis of the cure kinetics of several formulations composed of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBPA) and aromatic diamines, methylenedianiline (MDA) and diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS), in the absence and presence of 4,4′-bismaleimidodiphenylmethane (BM) was performed. The dynamic differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) thermograms were analyzed with the help of ASTM kinetic software to determine the kinetic parameters of the curing reactions, including the activation energy, preexponential factor, rate constant, and 60 min ½ life temperature. The effects of substitution of one curing agent for another, their concentration, and the absence and presence of BM resin and its concentration on curing behavior, ethalpy, and kinetic parameters are discussed. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

This article presents a parallel method for computing inverse kinematics solutions for robots with closed-form solutions moving along a straight line trajectory specified in Cartesian space. Zhang and Paul's approach1 is improved for accuracy and speed. Instead of using previous joint positions as proposed by Zhang and Paul, a first order prediction strategy is used to decouple the dependency between joint positions, and a zero order approximation solution is computed. A compensation scheme using Taylor series expansion is applied to obtain the trajectory gradient in joint space to replace the correction scheme proposed by Zhang and Paul. The configuration of a Mitsubishi RV-M1 robot is used for the simulation of a closed-form inverse kinematics solutions. An Alta SuperLink/XL with four transputer nodes is used for parallel implementation. The simulation results show a significant improvement in displacement tracking errors and joint configuration errors along the straight line trajectory. The computational latency is reduced as well. The modified approach proposed in this work is more accurate and faster than Zhang and Paul's approach for robots with closed-form inverse kinematics solutions. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women globally, and diagnosing it early and finding potential drug candidates against multi-drug resistant metastatic breast cancers provide the possibilities of better treatment and extending life. Methods: The current study aimed to evaluate the synergistic anti-metastatic activity of Curcumin (Cur) and Paclitaxel (Pacli) individually, the combination of Curcumin–Paclitaxel (CP), and also in conjugation with gold nanoparticles (AuNP–Curcumin (Au-C), AuNP–Paclitaxel (Au-P), and AuNP–Curcumin–Paclitaxel (Au-CP)) in various in vitro and in vivo models. Results: The results from combination treatments of CP and Au-CP demonstrated excellent synergistic cytotoxic effects in triple-negative breast cancer cell lines (MDA MB 231 and 4T1) in in vitro and in vivo mouse models. Detailed mechanistic studies were performed that reveal that the anti-cancer effects were associated with the downregulation of the expression of VEGF, CYCLIN-D1, and STAT-3 genes and upregulation of the apoptotic Caspase-9 gene. The group of mice that received CP combination therapy (with and without gold nanoparticles) showed a significant reduction in the size of tumor when compared to the Pacli alone treatment and control groups. Conclusions: Together, the results suggest that the delivery of gold conjugated Au-CP formulations may help in modulating the outcomes of chemotherapy. The present study is well supported with observations from cell-based assays, molecular and histopathological analyses.  相似文献

This communication presents an experimental study based on energy and exergy analyses of a typical solar air dryer. On the basis of the experimental results, the first and the second law efficiencies are calculated with respect to the available solar radiation. It is found that the second law efficiency is much less than the first law efficiency irrespective of the mass flow rate of the circulating fluid. It is also found that both efficiencies are an increasing function with respect to the mass flow rate of the working fluid. For a particular day, it is also found that first and second law efficiencies fluctuate according to radiation. The results obtained in this article are found to be consistent with those obtained by earlier authors as given in the literature.  相似文献

The thermodynamic analysis and parametric study of an intercooled–reheat closed-cycle gas turbine is presented in this paper, on the basis of a new (harmonic mean) isentropic exponent. An analytical expression is derived for the optimum pressure ratio and maximum non-dimensional net work output. It is found that the optimum pressure ratio and the maximum non-dimensional net work are high when the ratio of extreme temperatures of cycle (i.e. T max and T min) and isentropic efficiencies of compressor and turbine (i.e. ηc and ηt) are high. The theoretical results are also compared with the practical conditions of power plant.  相似文献

This paper presents a simple mathematical model for solar space heating in a non-airconditioned building with movable insulation over the roof pond. The building room considered is of rectangular shape (6 m × 5 m × 4 m) based on the ground. The effects of heat conduction to the ground, heat transfers to furnishings and heat losses due to air ventilation/infiltration have been taken into account in the general heat transfer analysis. The day-to-night change of insulation over the roof pond has been represented by a rectangular step function variation of the heat transfer coefficient at the pond's surface. An increase of 3 to 4°C in the room air temperature is achieved by means of movable insulation over the roof pond on a mild winter's day (17th February, 1982) in New Delhi.  相似文献
