We present two improved results for scheduling batched parallel jobs on multiprocessors with mean response time as the performance metric. These results are obtained by using a generalized analysis framework where the response time of the jobs is expressed in two contributing factors that directly impact a scheduler’s competitive ratio. Specifically, we show that the scheduler IGDEQ is 3-competitive against the optimal while AGDEQ is 5.24-competitive. These results improve the known competitive ratios of 4 and 10, obtained by Deng et al. and by He et al., respectively. For the common case where no fractional allotments are allowed, we show that slightly larger competitive ratios can be obtained by augmenting the schedulers with the round-robin strategy.  相似文献

In this article, a finite difference scheme for coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations is studied. The existence of the difference solution is proved by Brouwer fixed point theorem. With the aid of the fact that the difference solution satisfies two conservation laws, the finite difference solution is proved to be bounded in the discrete L norm. Then, the difference solution is shown to be unique and second order convergent in the discrete L norm. Finally, a convergent iterative algorithm is presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we study (normalized) disjoint information as a metric for image comparison and its applications to perceptual image quality assessment, image registration, and video tracking. Disjoint information is the joint entropy of random variables excluding the mutual information. This measure of statistical dependence and information redundancy satisfies more rigorous metric conditions than mutual information, including self-similarity, minimality, symmetry and triangle inequality. It is applicable to two or more random variables, and can be computed by vector histogramming, vector Parzen window density approximation, and upper bound approximation involving fewer variables. We show such a theoretic advantage does have implications in practice. In the domain of digital image and video, multiple visual features are extracted and (normalized) compound disjoint information is derived from a set of marginal densities of the image distributions, thus enriching the vocabulary of content representation. The proposed metric matching functions are applied to several domain applications to demonstrate their efficacy.  相似文献

突发模式误码测试仪与一般连续误码测试仪不同,其接收端在误码比对前要实现在十几位内,对具有相位跳变特点的信号进行时钟提取和数据恢复,并且在误码比对时须滤除前导码和定界符,仅对有效数据进行误码统计。本文提出一种基于FPGA实现的高速突发模式误码测试仪设计方案,并介绍该方案的总体设计过程,以及FPGA中主要功能逻辑模块的工作原理和控制系统的设计。该测试仪应用于1.25GHz GPON系统突发式光接收模块的误码测试中,具有较好的性能和实际意义。  相似文献

Traditional fast k-nearest neighbor search algorithms based on pyramid structures need either many extra memories or long search time. This paper proposes a fast k-nearest neighbor search algorithm based on the wavelet transform, which exploits the important information hiding in the transform coefficients to reduce the computational complexity. The study indicates that the Haar wavelet transform brings two kinds of important pyramids. Two elimination criteria derived from the transform coefficients are used to reject those impossible candidates. Experimental results on texture classification verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.  相似文献

Abstract— In this study, organic wavelength‐converting films (WCFs) applied to InGaN blue LED‐based hybrid planar WLED has been fabricated. The organic dye layer in the WCF was formed between the upper and bottom polymer sheets by using a simple roll‐laminating technique. Subsequently, the hybrid planar WLEDs have been fabricated based upon these films. The luminous efficiency of green WCF‐based hybrid planar WLEDs with a single blue LED chip was 34.6 lm/W and that of red‐WCF‐assisted green WCF‐based hybrid planar WLEDs was 27.3 lm/W under 20 mA. The use of WCF to fabricate hybrid planar WLEDs showed better stability than that of directly coating organic color‐convergence materials (CCMs) on the LED chips. It only decreased to about 10% of the initial wavelength‐converting intensity after 1 hour of continual operation at 20 mA.  相似文献

Abstract— The stability of oxide TFTs has been the main focus of this research and is probably the most crucial requirement for the successful application to flat‐panel displays. Although the high Fermi level of oxide semiconductors makes TFTs basically stable under electrical stress, the device reliability under diverse variations of electrical stress is affected by materials such as active semiconductors and gate insulators, processes for the formation of back/front channels and passivation layers, and device configurations among other things. How these factors affect the device reliability have been investigated and a review of the stability is presented. In addition, several categories of the light instability of oxide TFTs is presented and the origin is discussed.  相似文献

Documents in rich text corpora usually contain multiple facets of information. For example, an article about a specific disease often consists of different facets such as symptom, treatment, cause, diagnosis, prognosis, and prevention. Thus, documents may have different relations based on different facets. Powerful search tools have been developed to help users locate lists of individual documents that are most related to specific keywords. However, there is a lack of effective analysis tools that reveal the multifaceted relations of documents within or cross the document clusters. In this paper, we present FacetAtlas, a multifaceted visualization technique for visually analyzing rich text corpora. FacetAtlas combines search technology with advanced visual analytical tools to convey both global and local patterns simultaneously. We describe several unique aspects of FacetAtlas, including (1) node cliques and multifaceted edges, (2) an optimized density map, and (3) automated opacity pattern enhancement for highlighting visual patterns, (4) interactive context switch between facets. In addition, we demonstrate the power of FacetAtlas through a case study that targets patient education in the health care domain. Our evaluation shows the benefits of this work, especially in support of complex multifaceted data analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a novel approach for high-dynamic-range (HDR) texture compression (TC) suitable for rendering systems of different capacities. Based on the previously proposed DHTC scheme, we first work out an improved joint-channel compression framework, which is robust and flexible enough to provide compressed HDR textures at different bit rates. Then, two compressed HDR texture formats based on the proposed framework are developed. The 8 bpp format is of near lossless visual quality, improving upon known state-of-the-art algorithms. And, to our knowledge, the 4 bpp format is the first workable 4 bpp solution with good quality. We also show that HDR textures in the proposed 4 bpp and 8 bpp formats can compose a layered architecture in the texture consumption pipeline, to significantly save the memory bandwidth and storage in real-time rendering. In addition, the 8 bpp format can also be used to handle traditional low dynamic range (LDR) RGBA textures. Our scheme exhibits a practical solution for compressing HDR textures at different rates and LDR textures with alpha maps.  相似文献
