Helicobacter pylori seem to avoid areas of intestinal metaplasia in the gastric mucosa, but attachment of these bacteria to epithelium with the appearance of incomplete intestinal metaplasia has been documented. To characterize the nature of the epithelium to which H pylori was attached, we carried out an immunohistochemical study using monoclonal antibodies against gastric surface mucous cell mucins (M1), blood group-related carbohydrates antigens (Le(a), sialyl Le(a), Le(b), type 1H, and type 2H) and sialyl Tn antigen. The results of this study suggest that these areas of H pylori attachment represent a hybrid epithelium whose cells share characteristics of both gastric surface mucous cells and intestinal metaplastic cells. Whether all areas of incomplete intestinal metaplasia represent an intermediate stage between the normal gastric epithelium and the fully developed complete type of metaplasia remains to be determined. 相似文献

The known effects of commonly used nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) on hemostatic parameters have led to concern over their use in the perioperative period. Nabumetone, unlike other NSAIDs, has little effect on collagen-induced platelet aggregation. To evaluate the effect of nabumetone 2000 mg daily on other hemostatic parameters (e.g., bleeding time, prothrombin time, and partial thromboplastin time) in the clinical setting, this double-masked study was conducted in patients with osteoarthritis undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. After a 1-week placebo washout period, 58 patients were randomized to receive nabumetone and 53 were randomized to receive placebo. They were assessed before surgery (after 1 to 2 weeks of treatment) and again after surgery (after an additional 3 weeks of treatment). The study was designed to have 90% power to show equivalence in bleeding time to within 1.5 minutes, a difference assumed to be of no clinical importance. No meaningful differences were observed between the groups in any of the measured hemostatic parameters. Before surgery, the bleeding time increased by only 0.3 minutes with nabumetone and decreased by 0.2 minutes with placebo. The mean (+/- SD) difference between the groups in change from baseline was 0.5 +/- 0.3 minutes. After surgery, the changes were 0.1 minutes and 0.0 minutes, respectively, and the difference between groups was 0.2 +/- 0.3 minutes. These differences were neither statistically nor clinically significant, and maximum individual increases were similar in each group. Furthermore, there were no reports of abnormal bleeding in the operative knees. The results of this study show that nabumetone had little or no effect on hemostasis and suggest that this drug can be used safely in the perioperative period. 相似文献

Thin films of CdSe and silver(Ag)-doped CdSe have been prepared on glass substrates by thermal evaporation in argon gas atmosphere. X-ray diffraction pattern indicates the presence of hexagonal structure with preferred orientation along (100) plane. Elemental composition of the thin films has been analyzed using energy dispersive X-ray analysis. Scanning electron microscopy has been used to investigate the morphology of the thin films. Transmission electron microscope reveals spherical nature of nanoparticles. A decrease in the band gap due to the formation of band tails in the band gap with increase in Ag doping in CdSe lattice has been observed. Photoluminescence spectra indicate redshift in band edge emission peak with increase in Ag doping in CdSe. Electrical conductivity measurements are also studied, and two types of conduction mechanisms taking part in the transport phenomena are observed. Hall measurements indicate n-type behavior of undoped and Ag-doped CdSe thin films. 相似文献

Inverse gas chromatography technique has been used to study the thermodynamic compatibility of the industrially important elastomers polybutadiene (BR) and polybutadiene copolymerised with acrylonitrile (NBR). The NBR used in this study had nitrile contents of 18 and 34%. The ratio of BR/NBR in blends varied between 1 and 0.25 in both cases and retention volume of twelve probes was measured at 80°C. The Flory-Huggins interaction parameter X′23, computed using a standard procedure, and also the interaction parameter B23 showed that BR and NBR are incompatible in all compositions and that incompatibility increases with nitrile content. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

Biodiesel fuel is gaining more and more importance because of the depletion and uncontrollable prices of fossil fuel resources. The use of vegetable oil and their derivatives as alternatives for diesel fuel is the best answer and as old as Diesel Engine. Chemically biodiesel fuel is the mono alkyl esters of fatty acids derived from renewable feed stocks like vegetable oils and animal fats. Safflower oil contains 75-80% of linoleic acid; the presence of this unsaturated fatty acid is useful in alleviating low temperature properties like pour point, cloud point and cold filter plugging point. In this paper we studied the effect of various parameters such as temperature, molar ratio (oil to alcohol), and concentration of catalyst on synthesis of biodiesel fuel from safflower oil. The better suitable conditions of 1:6 molar ratio (oil to alcohol), 60 degrees C temperature and catalyst concentration of 2% (by wt. of oil) were determined. The finally obtained biodiesel fuel was analyzed for fatty acid composition by GLC and some other properties such as flash point, specific gravity and acid value were also determined. From the results it was clear that the produced biodiesel fuel was with in the recommended standards of biodiesel fuel with 96.8% yield. 相似文献

Wistar rats (male) were daily administered chlorpyrifos at a dose of 5 mg/kg b wt. and 10 mg/kg b wt. and sacrificed on 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th week. In chlorpyrifos exposed rats hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia and hypomagnesemia were recorded. At later intervals an increased levels of serum calcium and phosphate were observed. The parathyroid glands and calcitonin cells exhibited increased activity which is evident by increased nuclear volume of these cells. Microsc. Res. Ground water is the principal source of drinking water in the rural areas of India. With the aim of determining, the contribution of (226)Ra to natural background radiation through drinking water exposure pathway near an operating uranium mining industry at Jaduguda, Jharkhand state of eastern India, the (226)Ra activity concentrations were measured in potable ground water. The water analysed, both tube well and well water, was collected in areas near the uranium industry and away. The (226)Ra concentration was measured by emanometric technique. The (226)Ra level in ground water was ranging between minimum detection limit of 3.5 mBq l(-1) and a maximum of 208 mBq l(-1). The analysis of variance reveals that there is insignificant statistical variation in the median (226)Ra concentration up to a distance of >10 km from the mining complex. Variation in concentration of (226)Ra in sources is attributed to the local geochemistry and environmental factors. The (226)Ra concentration was significantly elevated in natural artesian wells in the vicinity of uranium mineralised hill and it varies from 53.4 to 754 mBq l(-1). The WHO [Guidelines for Drinking Water Quality. Third Edition, Vol. 1, Recommendation (2004)] guideline value of 1000 mBq l(-1) has not been exceeded in any of the sources investigated. 相似文献

Carboxylic acid functionalized water soluble carbon nanotube (wsCNT) shows no toxic effect against the growth of Escherichia-coli (E. coli), a gram-negative bacteria. Treatment up to 8 microg mL(-1) of wsCNT did not show any toxic effect on E. coli growth that was followed by using bacterial growth kinetics and Spread Plate Technique (SPT). The number of E-coli colonies counts with and without wsCNT showed nearly no change and the bacterial growth kinetics in both the cases showing no toxic effect of wsCNT on the growth of E. coli. 相似文献

Herein we report the covalent functionalization of multiwall carbon nanotubes by grafting sulfanilic acid and their dispersion into sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone). The nanocomposites were explored as an option for tuning the proton and electron conductivity, swelling, water and alcohol permeability aiming at nanostructured membranes and electrodes for application in alcohol or hydrogen fuel cells and other electrochemical devices. The nanocomposites were extensively characterized, by studying their physicochemical and electrochemical properties. They were processed as self-supporting films with high mechanical stability, proton conductivity of 4.47 × 10−2 S cm−1 at 30 °C and 16.8 × 10−2 S cm−1 at 80 °C and 100% humidity level, electron conductivity much higher than for the plain polymer. The methanol permeability could be reduced to 1/20, keeping water permeability at reasonable values. The ratio of bound water also increases with increasing content of sulfonated filler, helping in keeping water in the polymer in conditions of low external humidity level. 相似文献
