A new approach is proposed to solve bioelectric inverse problems by employing the surface Laplacian of the bioelectrical potential. A theoretical investigation was conducted to test the feasibility of epicardial inverse imaging of cardiac electrical activity. A two-sphere homogeneous volume conductor model, where the inner sphere represents the epicardium and the outer sphere the body surface, was used. Radial and tangential current dipoles were used to approximate localized wavefronts propagating from the endocardium to the epicardium, and ectopic myocardial activities. The epicardial potential distribution was reconstructed from the body surface Laplacians with the aid of the Tikhonov zero-order regularization technique, which then was compared with the results obtained from the body surface potentials using the same regularization scheme. The two inverse solutions were compared qualitatively via visual inspection of the reconstructed epicardial potential maps, and quantitatively by examining relative errors and correlation coefficients between the “true” and the reconstructed epicardial potentials. Both qualitative and quantitative results indicate that the surface Laplacians play a positive role in improving the ill-posed nature of the bioelectric inverse problem, which would enhance one's capability of reconstructing important epicardial events such as extrema in the epicardial potential distribution. The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) has recently defined a European standard for a high performance radio LAN (known as HIPERLAN). To operate as wired LAN replacements, these systems will operate at 5.2 GHz and support instantaneous bit rates of just under 24 Mb/s. To counteract the time dispersive nature of the indoor radio channel, the use of adaptive equalisation is suggested. In this paper a number of possible modulation and equalisation techniques are presented and, in particular, the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of quasi-coherent GMSK combined with Decision Feedback Equalisation is explored through computer simulation. The trade off between symbol spaced and fractionally spaced equalisation is considered together with the importance of feedfoward and feedback synchronisation to the channel's power delay profile. The paper also includes a comparison of the RLS and LMS based training algorithms and compares the modem developed under the ESPRIT III LAURA project with that specified in HIPERLAN.The application of dual antenna diversity is investigated and its impact on the number of received error free data packets obtained as a function of signal leval and rms delay spread. The use of such diversity is shown to greatly improve the BER performance of a HIPERLAN modem. The problem of frequency offset is considered and modifications are proposed to the HIPERLAN frame structure to improve the receiver's tolerance to such errors. Important practical issues such as frame and symbol synchronisation, frequency offset correction and hardware implementation are discussed from both the LAURA and HIPERLAN viewpoint. 相似文献

Indium droplet formation during the epitaxial growth of InxGa1−xN films is a serious problem for achieving high quality films with high indium mole fraction. In this paper, we studied the
formation of indium droplets on the InxGa1−xN films grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) using single crystal x-ray diffraction. It is found that the
indium (101) peak in the x-ray diffraction spectra can be utilized as a quantitative measure to determine the amounts of indium
droplets on the film. It is shown by monitoring the indium diffraction peak that the density of indium droplets increases
at lower growth temperature. To suppress these indium droplets, a modulation growth technique is used. Indium droplet formation
in the modulation growth is investigated and it is revealed in our study that the indium droplets problem has been partially

In this paper, a novel InGaP/GaAs multiple S-shaped negative-differential-resistance (NDR) switch based on a heterostructure-emitter bipolar transistor (HEBT) structure is fabricated and demonstrated. An interesting multiple NDR phenomenon resulting from an avalanche multiplication and successive two-stage barrier lowering process is observed under the inverted operation mode. The three-terminal-controlled and temperature-dependent NDR characteristics are also investigated. In addition, a typical transistor performance is found under the normal operation mode. A variational equation is derived for the capacitances of coplanar waveguide (CPW) structures with finite metallization thickness. The equation is expressed in terms of the static potential in the slot region and is solved by applying the hybrid finite-element method (FEM). In the case of small metallization thickness, it is reduced to a perturbation formula for the incremental capacitances. Numerical results for the equivalent capacitances of various discontinuities with finite metallization thickness are presented and compared with measured data. The reasonable agreement between the measured data and the theoretical results validates the present approach.
