Accurate high-resolution soil moisture data are needed for a range of agricultural and hydrologic activities. To improve the spatial resolution of ∼ 40 km resolution passive microwave-derived soil moisture, a methodology based on 1 km resolution MODIS (MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) red, near-infrared and thermal-infrared data has been implemented at 4 km resolution. The three components of that method are (i) fractional vegetation cover, (ii) soil evaporative efficiency (defined as the ratio of actual to potential evaporation) and (iii) a downscaling relationship. In this paper, 36 different disaggregation algorithms are built from 3 fractional vegetation cover formulations, 3 soil evaporative efficiency models, and 4 downscaling relationships. All algorithms differ with regard to the representation of the nonlinear relationship between microwave-derived soil moisture and optical-derived soil evaporative efficiency. Airborne L-band data collected over an Australian agricultural area are used to both generate ∼ 40 km resolution microwave pixels and verify disaggregation results at 4 km resolution. Among the 36 disaggregation algorithms, one is identified as being more robust (insensitive to soil, vegetation and atmospheric variables) than the others with a mean slope between MODIS-disaggregated and L-band derived soil moisture of 0.94. The robustness of that algorithm is notably assessed by comparing the disaggregation results obtained using composited (averaged) Terra and Aqua MODIS data, and using data from Terra and Aqua separately. The error on disaggregated soil moisture is systematically reduced by compositing daily Terra and Aqua data with an error of 0.012 vol./vol.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem of separation of unknown number of sources from their underdetermined convolutive mixtures via time-frequency (TF) masking. We propose two algorithms, one for the estimation of the masks which are to be applied to the mixture in the TF domain for the separation of signals in the frequency domain, and the other for solving the permutation problem. The algorithm for mask estimation is based on the concept of angles in complex vector space. Unlike the previously reported methods, the algorithm does not require any estimation of the mixing matrix or the source positions for mask estimation. The algorithm clusters the mixture samples in the TF domain based on the Hermitian angle between the sample vector and a reference vector using the well known k -means or fuzzy c -means clustering algorithms. The membership functions so obtained from the clustering algorithms are directly used as the masks. The algorithm for solving the permutation problem clusters the estimated masks by using k-means clustering of small groups of nearby masks with overlap. The effectiveness of the algorithm in separating the sources, including collinear sources, from their underdetermined convolutive mixtures obtained in a real room environment, is demonstrated.  相似文献

Phase equilibria in a system constituted of an alloy nanoparticle in contact with a solid nanowire have been modelled based on the minimization of a Gibbs free energy function. The Gibbs free energy consists of a bulk, surface and interface contribution. The bulk contribution is taken from CALPHAD thermodynamic databases and the surface properties from the literature. The effect of particle size and surface and interfacial properties on the liquidus line of the Au-Ge and In-Si systems has been studied. The results are compared to the bulk phase diagram and phase equilibria calculated for nano-systems with different geometries.  相似文献

A sequential model is developed to disaggregate microwave-derived soil moisture from 40 km to 4 km resolution using MODIS (Moderate Imaging Spectroradiometer) data and subsequently from 4 km to 500 m resolution using ASTER (Advanced Scanning Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) data. The 1 km resolution airborne data collected during the three-week National Airborne Field Experiment 2006 (NAFE'06) are used to simulate the 40 km pixels, and a thermal-based disaggregation algorithm is applied using 1 km resolution MODIS and 100 m resolution ASTER data. The downscaled soil moisture data are subsequently evaluated using a combination of airborne and in situ soil moisture measurements. A key step in the procedure is to identify an optimal downscaling resolution in terms of disaggregation accuracy and sub-pixel soil moisture variability. Very consistent optimal downscaling resolutions are obtained for MODIS aboard Terra, MODIS aboard Aqua and ASTER, which are 4 to 5 times the thermal sensor resolution. The root mean square error between the 500 m resolution sequentially disaggregated and ground-measured soil moisture is 0.062 vol./vol. with a bias of − 0.045 vol./vol. and values ranging from 0.08 to 0.40 vol./vol.  相似文献

An optimal design of the driving current pattern for a disc‐type axial‐flux brushless DC wheel motor of an electric vehicle is proposed in this paper. The electro‐magnetic dynamic model of the motor is established with magnetic circuits, describing the relationship between the output torque and excitation current. The optimal current pattern, in terms of magnitude and phase angle, is then obtained by maximizing the output torque with respect to the rotor shift. Compared with the traditional three‐phase‐on current pattern of fixed 120–degree phase shift, both the average torque and efficiency with the driving current of an optimal advanced switching angle are seen to be improved under various loading conditions. The motor performance with the optimal driving waveform is simulated and verified by experiments.  相似文献

The atomic force microscope (AFM) is a powerful tool for the measurement of forces at the micro/nano scale when calibrated cantilevers are used. Besides many existing calibration techniques, the thermal calibration is one of the simplest and fastest methods for the dynamic characterization of an AFM cantilever. This method is efficient provided that the Brownian motion (thermal noise) is the most important source of excitation during the calibration process. Otherwise, the value of spring constant is underestimated. This paper investigates noise interference ranges in low stiffness AFM cantilevers taking into account thermal fluctuations and acoustic pressures as two main sources of noise. As a result, a preliminary knowledge about the conditions in which thermal fluctuations and acoustic pressures have closely the same effect on the AFM cantilever (noise interference) is provided with both theoretical and experimental arguments. Consequently, beyond the noise interference range, commercial low stiffness AFM cantilevers are calibrated in two ways: using the thermal noise (in a wide temperature range) and acoustic pressures generated by a loudspeaker. We then demonstrate that acoustic noises can also be used for an efficient characterization and calibration of low stiffness AFM cantilevers. The accuracy of the acoustic characterization is evaluated by comparison with results from the thermal calibration.  相似文献

Accurate junction detection and characterization are of primary importance for several aspects of scene analysis, including depth recovery and motion analysis. In this work, we introduce a generic junction analysis scheme. The first asset of the proposed procedure is an automatic criterion for the detection of junctions, permitting to deal with textured parts in which no detection is expected. Second, the method yields a characterization of L-, Y- and X- junctions, including a precise computation of their type, localization and scale. Contrary to classical approaches, scale characterization does not rely on the linear scale-space. First, an a contrario approach is used to compute the meaningfulness of a junction. This approach relies on a statistical modeling of suitably normalized gray level gradients. Then, exclusion principles between junctions permit their precise characterization. We give implementation details for this procedure and evaluate its efficiency through various experiments.  相似文献

In this study, criteria on the artificial compliance due to intrinsic cohesive zone models are presented. The approach is based on a micromechanical model for a collection of cohesive zone models embedded between each mesh of a finite element-type discretization. The overall elastic behaviour of this cohesive volumetric medium is obtained using homogenization techniques and is given in a closed-form as function of bulk properties of the relevant material and mesh parameters (the mesh type and size). Practical criteria are obtained for the calibration of the cohesive stiffnesses bounding the additional compliance inherent to intrinsic cohesive zone models by lower value. For isotropic planar discretizations (e.g. Delaunay mesh), a rigorous bound is derived whereas convenient estimates are given for non-isotropic discretizations (e.g. regular mesh).  相似文献
