The ability of five strains of different bifidobacterial species (Bifidobacterium animalis, B. bifidum, B. infantis, B. longum, B. pseudolongum) isolated from human and animal gut to degrade myo-inositol hexaphosphate or phytic acid (InsP(6)) has been evaluated. The disappearance of phytate and the generation of lower myo-inositol phosphates were determined in a complex medium in which phytic acid was the only source of phosphorus. Bifidobacterium infantis ATCC 15697 showed the highest level of phytate-degrading activity. This strain displayed optimal activity at slight acid pH (6.0-6.5) and 50 degrees C, but also retained high activity levels at neutral pH and 37 degrees C. B. infantis ATCC 15697 produced maximum activity during the stationary phase of growth and when 1% lactose was used as carbon source. In contrast, the presence of inorganic phosphate in the growth medium inhibited phytase activity. The ability of B. infantis ATCC 15697 to generate lower myo-inositol phosphates and, particularly, accumulate myo-inositol tri-phosphates (InsP(3)) from partial hydrolysis of InsP(6) could contribute to the reduction of the anti-nutritional properties of InsP(6) and the generation of intermediate compounds with beneficial properties during food processing and gastrointestinal transit.  相似文献

Recovering of forest biomass from Spanish hybrid poplar plantations   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Residues recovering from traditional poplar plantations for timber production are a potential relevant biomass source in Spain and other temperate countries. Three different residual biomass harvesting systems have been work-studied in order to characterize the work methods and analyze their productivity and cost. Two were oriented to branches, top and/or energy wood collection, chipping and transport using different work methods, while the other one consisted of after-logging stumps removal and shredding. Different sized and powered chippers worked in the two first cases, besides different farm tractors with trailers for off-road chips transport. Also the trucks and the loading machines were different. In the third site, a backhoe excavator removed the stumps, and a bucket loader collected them to be grinded by a shredding machine. Productivity and cost have been analyzed using IUFRO standards, providing average figures and, when possible, predictive productivity equations. Most capital-intensive equipment option has shown to be most productive, but less investment requiring system is cheaper and may be most interesting for some enterprise and plantation sizes. In addition, logistics of biomass and timber supply has been analyzed, and some indications about equipment sizing, machine annual production and relocation costs related to supply area and average plantation size are provided.  相似文献

Ethanol is seen as an attractive option as a fuel for direct ethanol fuel cells and as a source for on-demand production of hydrogen in portable applications. While the effect of ethanol on in-situ electrode behavior has been studied previously, these efforts have mostly been limited to qualitative analysis. In alkaline fuel cells, several cathode catalysts, including Pt, Cu triazole, and Ag can be used. Here, we apply a methodology using a microfluidic fuel cell to analyze in-situ the performance of these cathodes as well as Pt anodes in the presence of ethanol and acetic acid, a common side product from ethanol oxidation. For a given concentration of ethanol (or acetic acid), the best cathode catalyst can be determined and the kinetic losses due to the presence of ethanol (or acetic acid) can be quantified. These experiments also yield information about power density losses from the presence of contaminants such as ethanol or acetic acid in an alkaline fuel cell. The methodology demonstrated in these experiments will enable in-situ screening of new cathodes with respect to contaminant tolerance and determining optimal operational conditions for alkaline ethanol fuel cells.  相似文献

欧洲约有1%~3%的一般人群对铬(Cr)过敏。从人类健康和环境风险的角度来看,评估皮革内潜在的Cr(Ⅲ)和Cr(Ⅵ)释放十分重要。研究考察了皮革体相和表面化学的相关性、Cr(Ⅲ)和Cr(Ⅵ)的释放,以及具有联合释放能力的特定皮革,对释放的铬的还原和络合。采用SEM、EDS、XPS、ATR-FTIR和二苯卡巴肼比色法表征4种皮革。将皮样与人工汗(ASW,pH6.5)和缓冲液(PB,pH 7.5~8.0)接触,采用分光光度法和AAS,对比Cr(Ⅲ)和Cr(Ⅵ)释放效果。具有联合释放能力的特定皮革,在ASW和PB中,能够有效减少Cr(Ⅵ)的含量,其还原能力与革表面及释放的铬的含量相关。采用ATR-FTIR表征不具有该能力且含有较少芳烃基的皮革。结果表明,在革表面和PB溶液中均存在Cr(Ⅵ)。  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Although chlorination is an effective and widely employed method of water disinfection, it suffers serious drawbacks such as the formation of toxic chlorinated by‐products. Therefore, other disinfection technologies have been researched and developed, including advanced oxidation. RESULTS: The efficacy of heterogeneous photocatalysis and sonophotocatalysis induced by UV‐A irradiation and low frequency (24–80 kHz) ultrasound irradiation in the presence of TiO2 as the photocatalyst and peracetic acid (PAA) as an additional disinfectant to inactivate E. coli in sterile water was evaluated. PAA‐assisted UV‐A/TiO2 photocatalysis generally leads to nearly complete E. coli inactivation in 10–20 min of contact time with the extent of inactivation depending on the photocatalyst type and loading (in the range 100–500 mg L?1) and PAA concentration (in the range 0.5–2 mg L?1). The simultaneous application of ultrasound and UV‐A irradiation in the presence of TiO2 and PAA prompted further E. coli inactivation. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed advanced disinfection technology offers complete E. coli inactivation at short treatment times and low PAA doses. Copyright © 2010 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

During the last years, we have witnessed the boom of the digital market due to the proliferation of emergent audiovisual services and the increasing number of broadband networks. In this scenario, users insistently demand innovative services for exchanging and sharing their own audiovisual contents. In order to meet these needs, in this paper we propose a system that broadcasts user-generated audiovisual contents for handheld devices in a mobile network based on the DVB-H broadcasting standard. Besides, our system offers diverse added-value services to these new active users, such as: (i) multi modal access (via Web or by client applications running locally in handheld devices) to digital contents, (ii) exploitation of return channels to transmit interactive contents that enhance the user’s experience, and (iii) annotation, sharing and personalized distribution of audiovisual contents. To achieve these goals, our system adopts well-known technologies for broadcasting and semantic annotation of audiovisual contents, as well as emergent technology from the so-called Web 2.0. A prototype of our system has been experimentally evaluated with a group of students from the University of Vigo, who were enthusiastic about the personalization capabilities offered by our TV system for a mobile setting.  相似文献

Nowadays, we are living in a time of important technological changes that affect our lives at home and our communication with the outside world. Among them, the developments in Interactive Digital TV (IDTV) and the smart home field can be considered as particularly important. Related to the former, the new Set‐Top Boxes (STBs) are not only a decoder for digital television broadcast but also an entry point to the Information Society and a suitable platform to support the execution of interactive applications. With regards to the latter, the Residential Gateways (RGs) combine different network technologies to allow the connection of different electronics devices and appliances at home, not only with each other but also with the Internet. Since there is no widespread consensus about the configurations and functions of the RGs, we propose to coordinate the two aforementioned worlds by extending the functionality of STBs to become a RG. Our proposal consists of merging the Multimedia Home Platform (MHP), one of the main standard frameworks for IDTV, with Open Service Gateway Initiative (OSGi), the most widely used open platform to set up RGs. To overcome the radically different nature of these specifications—the function‐oriented MHP middleware and the service‐oriented OSGi framework—we define a new kind of application, coined as XbundLET. This application is able to bridge the gap between the two frameworks and make their interaction feasible. We also show how this proposal has the potential to enable the production of scenarios that cannot currently be put into practice in a natural way. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Linear alkylbenzenesulfonates (LAS) (C(10)-C(13)) and their degradation products, sulfophenyl carboxylate compounds (SPCs) (C(2)-C(6), C(8), C(11)), have been extracted from soil samples with methanol, isolated, concentrated by solid-phase extraction, and determined by liquid chromatography/negative ion electrospray quadrupole ion-trap tandem mass spectrometry (MS(n)). The ion fragmentation processes and pathways were studied in detail by MS, MS(2), and MS(3). Upon collision-induced dissociation, the deprotonated molecules of LASs render the ethylene-substituted benzenesulfonate ion (m/z 183), the fragmentation of which gave the intense signal at m/z 119, corresponding to the ethylene-substituted phenoxide ion formed by the loss of sulfur dioxide. The fragmentation pattern of SPCs shows that, for the analytes of large carbon atom chains (>5C), the neutral loss of water is favored whereas for those of short carbon atoms chain, the loss of carbon dioxide is more frequent. Multiple reaction monitoring using isolation only for MS and using isolation and fragmentation for MS(2) and MS(3) were used to identify and quantify each compound. The three MS modes have been validated in terms of sensitivity, selectivity, and precision, showing that each MS stage used reduces sensitivity 10 times. Recoveries from soil were higher than 65% at LOQ level for all the analytes tested, except for C(2)-C(4) SPCs by any MS mode, with relative standard deviation lower than 19%. The utility of the method is demonstrated by successfully quantifying real samples treated with these products. Quantification limits for the methodology developed in this work ranged from 0.5 to 50 microg kg(-1) by MS, from 2 to 400 microg kg(-1) by MS(2), and from 20 to 4000 microg kg(-1) by MS(3). Concentration levels of LASs and SPCs-ranging from 0.1 to 15 mg kg(-1)-were found in soil samples amended with sludges, thus indicating their input and persistence in the soil compartment.  相似文献

A method to determine five postharvest fungicides (dichloran, flutriafol, o-phenylphenol, prochloraz, tolclofos methyl) in fruits (cherries, lemons, oranges, peaches) has been developed using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) coupled to liquid chromatography (LC) with photodiode array (DAD), mass spectrometry (MS), or tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) with ion trap detection. Extraction involved sample homogenization with an acetone/water solution (5:1), filtration, and acetone evaporation prior to fiber extraction. The pesticides were isolated with a fused-silica fiber coated with 50-microm Carbowax/template resin. The effects of pH, ion strength, sample volume, and extraction time were investigated, and their impact on the SPME-LC/MS was studied. Dynamic and static modes of desorption were compared and the variables affecting desorption processes in SPME-LC optimized. Static desorption provided the best recoveries and peak shapes. Recoveries at the limit of quantification (LOQ) levels were between 10% for prochloraz and 60% for o-phenylphenol, with relative standard deviations from 13.6% for prochloraz to 3.1% for o-phenylphenol. The versatility of the method was also exhibited by its excellent linearity in the concentration intervals between 0.0005 and 5 mg kg(-1) for dichloran and 0.01-10 mg kg(-1) for tolclofos methyl and prochloraz. LOQs ranged from 0.25 to 1 microg g(-1) using DAD, from 0.002 to 0.01 microg g(-1) using LC/MS, and from 0.0005 to 0.01 to microg g(-1) using LC/MS/MS. LOQs obtained in the present study using LC/MS and LC/MS/MS are lower than maximum residue limits established for all the fungicides in any matrix studied. The method enables to determine polar pesticides at low-microgram per gram levels in fruits.  相似文献

The incorporation of Lactobacillus acidophilus CECT 903, Lactobacillus casei CECT 475 and Bifidobacterium bifidum CECT 870 together with lemon (LF) and orange (OF) fibers obtained from juice by-products were tested in (i) a model system: fiber enriched with de Man Rogosa Sharp (MRS) broth cultured with each probiotic bacteria and (ii) evaluation of populations of probiotic bacteria in fermented milks formulated with citrus fibers. Citrus fibers enhanced L. acidophilus CECT 903, and L. casei CECT 475 survival in MRS during refrigerated storage, whereas erratic results were obtained for B. bifidum CECT 870, OF enhanced its growth and LF had inhibitory effect. Populations of probiotic bacteria decreased with storage time in MRS broth. The presence of yogurt starter bacteria in probiotic fermented milks favored the growth and survival of L. acidophilus and B. bifidum. Citrus fiber presence in fermented milks also enhanced bacterial growth and survival of the tested probiotic bacteria. This study indicates that citrus fiber enriched fermented milk have good acceptability and are good vehicles for a variety of commercial probiotics but survival of B. bifidum will need to be improved.  相似文献
