We introduce a novel method for synthesizing dance motions that follow the emotions and contents of a piece of music. Our method employs a learning-based approach to model the music to motion mapping relationship embodied in example dance motions along with those motions' accompanying background music. A key step in our method is to train a music to motion matching quality rating function through learning the music to motion mapping relationship exhibited in synchronized music and dance motion data, which were captured from professional human dance performance. To generate an optimal sequence of dance motion segments to match with a piece of music, we introduce a constraint-based dynamic programming procedure. This procedure considers both music to motion matching quality and visual smoothness of a resultant dance motion sequence. We also introduce a two-way evaluation strategy, coupled with a GPU-based implementation, through which we can execute the dynamic programming process in parallel, resulting in significant speedup. To evaluate the effectiveness of our method, we quantitatively compare the dance motions synthesized by our method with motion synthesis results by several peer methods using the motions captured from professional human dancers' performance as the gold standard. We also conducted several medium-scale user studies to explore how perceptually our dance motion synthesis method can outperform existing methods in synthesizing dance motions to match with a piece of music. These user studies produced very positive results on our music-driven dance motion synthesis experiments for several Asian dance genres, confirming the advantages of our method. 相似文献

Conventional multislice positron cameras reconstruct a three-dimensional distribution of a positron-emitting radioscope as a set of two-dimensional transverse sections. Consequently, annihilation photons which cross two or more planes are eliminated from the data. Such an approach makes efficient use of the emitted photon flux. A method is proposed which makes more efficient use of the available photons by including both oblique and transverse section in the reconstruction. The implementation of the method consists of centering a scaled convolution filter on each detected coincidence event line and backprojecting the filter values through the three-dimensional reconstruction volume. The final image is normalized to allow for the different number of oblique and transverse sections that contribute to each point in the imaging volume. This study introduces a method for automated analysis of the standard solid-meal gastric emptying test. The purpose was to develop a diagnostic tool to characterize more reproducibly abnormalities of solid-phase gastric emptying. The processing of gastric emptying is automated using geometrical moments that are invariant to scaling, rotation, and shift. Twenty subjects were studied. The first step was to obtain images of the stomach using a nuclear gamma camera immediately after the subject had eaten a radio-labeled meal. The second step was to process and analyze the images by a recently developed automated gastric emptying analysis (AGEA) method, which determines the gastric contour and the geometrical properties include such parameters as area, centroid, orientation, and moments of inertia. Statistical tests showed that some of the moments were sensitive to the patient's gastric status (normal versus abnormal). A technique for automatic anatomically selective enhancement of digital chest radiographs is developed. Anatomically selective enhancement is motivated by the desire to simultaneously meet the different enhancement requirements of the lung field and the mediastinum. A recent peak detection algorithm and a set of rules are applied to the image histogram to determine automatically a gray-level threshold between the lung field and mediastinum. The gray-level threshold facilitates anatomically selective gray-scale modification and/or unsharp masking. Approximate equations are derived that allow calculation of the component values for a multiple-mode Mason equivalent circuit for acoustic transducers. The experimental approach required to obtain the data from which to derive the equivalent circuit is also described. The equations have been tested for accuracy, and the approach described here yields useful information for the system designer. The single-event-upset rates due to neutron-induced nuclear recoils have been calculated for Si and GaAs components using the HETC and MCNP codes and the ENDF data base for (n, p) and (n, alpha) reactions. For the same critical charge and sensitive volume, the upset rate in Si exceeds that of GaAs by a factor of about 1.7, mainly because more energy is transferred in neutron interactions with lighter Si nuclei. The upset rates due to neutrons are presented as functions of critical charge and atmospheric altitude. Upsets induced by cosmic-ray nuclei, secondary protons and neutrons are compared. 相似文献

The effects of curing agents on the content of heme pigments (HP) in meat were examined. Minced porcine skeletal muscle was treated with NaCl, NaNO(2) and sodium ascorbate (NaAsA), separately or in combination, and stored at 2-3°C for 7 days. HP content decreased with increase in NaCl concentration and the decrease was about 50% and 80% at NaCl concentrations of 2% and 10%, respectively. Two percent NaCl prevented HP destruction, when previously mixed with 100 ppm NaNO(2) or 0·1% NaAsA. Although some decrease in HP content was noted following application of a mixture of NaCl, NaNO(2) and NaAsA, it was essentially the same as that of the control during 7 days of refrigerated storage. In a model solution containing the same curing agents as those applied to the meat. NaCl had no effect and myoglobin (Mb) content remained constant during storage. From the present results, endogenous muscle constituents appear to act in concert with NaCl to bring about a decrease in HP content. 相似文献
