BACKGROUND: The increasing demand for molybdenum has encouraged the development of low‐cost and environmentally friendly extractants to recycle and recover this metal. In the present study, solvent extraction of Mo(VI) from acidic media using a mixture of fatty hydrazides synthesised from palm olein as the extractant was carried out. The effects of various parameters such as acid, diluent, contact time, extractant concentration, metal ion concentration and stripping agent and the separation of Mo(VI) from other metal ions such as Co(II), Ni(II), Al(III) and Mn(II) were investigated. RESULTS: It was found that the extraction of Mo(VI) into the organic phase involved the formation of 1:3 complexes. Mo(VI) was successfully separated from commonly associated metal ions such as Ni(II), Co(II), Al(III) and Mn(II). Mo(VI) stripping from the loaded organic phase was studied using different acidic and alkaline solutions and was found to be optimal with ammonium hydroxide solution. CONCLUSION: These results are useful for the development of a method to recover Mo(VI) from acidic media utilising fatty hydrazides as the extractant. A case of torsion of the wandering spleen with splenic infarction is reported. The medical imaging studies performed with typical findings are described. Case reports have been reviewed. Although rare, torsion of the spleen remains an important differential diagnosis in patients presenting with acute abdominal pain. Early intervention is necessary to reduce the risk of splenic infarction and other complications, and an increased awareness of the condition together with the use of appropriate medical imaging can lead to the correct diagnosis more readily.  相似文献

The objective of this study is to remove the congo red (CR) anionic dye, from water by using the acid activated red mud in batch adsorption experiments. The effects of contact time, pH, adsorbent dosage and initial dye concentration on the adsorption were investigated. The pH of the dye solution strongly affected the chemistry of both the dye molecules and activated red mud in an aqueous solution. The effective pH was 7.0 for adsorption on activated red mud. It was found that the sufficient time to attain equilibrium was 90 min. The adsorption isotherms were analyzed using the Langmuir, the Freundlich, and the three parameter Redlich-Peterson isotherms. The Langmuir isotherm was the best-fit adsorption isotherm model for the experimental data obtained from the non-linear chi-square statistic test.  相似文献

In the present study, the activated carbon was prepared by chemically activating polymer waste under the influence of potassium hydroxide (KOH). The pore properties including the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area, the volume of the pore, its size distribution, and average diameter were also characterized herein. The present study also evaluated the ability of the activated carbon to remove naproxen sodium, tannic acid, and caffeine from aqueous solutions through a process of adsorption. The equilibrium isotherms employed for the adsorption of drug organics onto the activated carbon were measured experimentally. The obtained results were analyzed by employing the Redlich–Peterson, Dubinin–Redushkevich, Temkin, Frumkin, Halsey, and Henderson equations by using a linearized correlation coefficient and statistically at varied temperatures. The models and the isotherm constants were evaluated based on the changes in the temperature. Among all, the Redlich–Peterson equation was determined to best represent the equilibrium data for the adsorption of naproxen sodium, and caffeine onto the activated carbon.  相似文献

The structural, optical, electrical and electrical–optical properties of a double-junction GaAsP light-emitting diode (LED) structure grown on a GaP (100) substrate by using a molecular beam epitaxy technique were investigated. The pn junction layers of GaAs1?xPx and GaAs1?yPy, which form the double-junction LED structure, were grown with two different P/As ratios. High-resolution x-ray diffraction (HRXRD), photoluminescence (PL), and current–voltage (IV) measurements were used to investigate the structural, optical and electrical properties of the sample. Alloy composition values (x, y) and some crystal structure parameters were determined using HRXRD measurements. The phosphorus compositions of the first and second junctions were found to be 63.120% and 82.040%, respectively. Using PL emission peak positions at room temperature, the band gap energies (Eg) of the first and second junctions were found to be 1.867 eV and 2.098 eV, respectively. In addition, the alloy compositions were calculated by Vegard’s law using PL measurements. The turn-on voltage (Von) and series resistance (Rs) of the device were obtained from the IV measurements to be 4.548 V and 119 Ω, respectively. It was observed that the LED device emitted in the red (664.020 nm) and yellow (591.325 nm) color regions.  相似文献

The relationship between the mean glandular dose (MGD) and the compressed breast thickness (CBT) is commonly used for the presentation of mammographic dose survey results and could also be useful for the assessment of individual breast doses retrospectively in case of lack of necessary dosimetric instrumentation. The high data scattering from the best fit reduces the reliability of this technique. The aim of this study was to investigate the accuracy of this relationship using the data collected from a patient survey and phantom experiment. Patients were divided into three different groups according to their breast glandularities, which were predicted from the inspection of previous mammograms. X-ray beam qualities that will be used in patient examinations were determined according to breast thickness and predicted glandularities. The MGD versus CBT relationship for all the examined patients resulted in a poor correlation (R(2) = 0.28). This relationship was separately obtained for each glandularity group and also for sub-groups of specific beam qualities. The best correlation (R(2) = 0.73) was obtained for the fatty breast group and Mo/Mo combination. A low correlation (R(2) = 0.34) was observed in the mid-glandularity group due to inclusion of a wide range of glandularities in this group. In the case of the dense breast group, although the glandularity range was narrow, there were e still high data scattering (R(2) = 0.25). This was probably due to the use of Mo/Rh and Mo/Mo combinations. This is validated by obtaining the MGD-CBT relationship specific to Mo/Mo combination (R(2) = 0.61).  相似文献

In this paper, we study UK road traffic data and explore a range of modelling and inference questions that arise from them. For example, loop detectors on the M25 motorway record speed and flow measurements at regularly spaced locations as well as the entry and exit lanes of junctions. An exploratory study of these data helps us to better understand and quantify the nature of congestion on the road network. From a traveller's perspective it is crucially important to understand the overall journey times and we look at methods to improve our ability to predict journey times given access jointly to both real-time and historical loop detector data. Throughout this paper we will comment on related work derived from US freeway data.  相似文献

A novel microfluidic approach for the quantification of reaction kinetics is presented. A three-dimensional finite difference numerical simulation was developed in order to extract quantitative kinetic information from fluorescence lifetime imaging experimental data. This approach was first utilized for the study of a fluorescence quenching reaction within a microchannel; the lifetime of a fluorophore was used to map the diffusion of a quencher across the microchannel. The approach was then applied to a more complex chemical reaction between a fluorescent amine and an acid chloride, via numerical simulation the bimolecular rate constant for this reaction was obtained.  相似文献

Ammonium ion exchange from aqueous solution using clinoptilolite zeolite was investigated at laboratory scale. Batch experimental studies were conducted to evaluate the effect of various parameters such as pH, zeolite dosage, contact time, initial ammonium concentration and temperature. Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models and pseudo-second-order model were fitted to experimental data. Linear and non-linear regression methods were compared to determine the best fitting of isotherm and kinetic model to experimental data. The rate limiting mechanism of ammonium uptake by zeolite was determined as chemical exchange. Non-linear regression has better performance for analyzing experimental data and Freundlich model was better than Langmuir to represent equilibrium data.  相似文献
