The present study aims to compare the oxidative stress biomarkers, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and histological changes induced by three cardiovascular risk factors, namely, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and type 1 diabetes mellitus. Hypertension was induced with 40 mg/kg body weight (b.w.) of N omega-nitro-L-arginine-methyl (L-NAME) administered orally. Dyslipidemia was induced by the administration of a diet with a high cholesterol (2%) content. Diabetes mellitus was induced by intraperitoneal administration of a single dose of streptozocin (65 mg/kg). Malondialdehyde (MDA) and total oxidative status (TOS) are increased by all three cardiovascular risk factors (up to 207%). The indirect assessment of NO synthesis (NOx) is observed to be reduced after L-NAME administration (43%), and dyslipidemia induction (16%), while type 1 diabetes mellitus is associated with the highest levels of NOx (increased 112%). Hypertension, dyslipidemia, and type 1 diabetes reduced the total antioxidative capacity (TAC) and total thiol (SH) levels (up to 57%). The values of evaluated pro-inflammatory cytokines, tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-1β (IL-1β), assessed from the ascending aorta were elevated by all three cardiovascular risk factors, with the highest levels induced by type 1 diabetes mellitus (up to 259%). The histopathological examination of the ascending and descending aorta revealed reversible pro-atherogenic changes consisting of the accumulation of lipid droplets in the subendothelial connective tissue on rats with hypertension and dyslipidemia. Irreversible pro-atherogenic changes consisting of a reduction of the specific elasticity of the arteries were observed in rats with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Type 1 diabetes mellitus demonstrates an alteration of the oxidative stress parameters, the elevation of tissue levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines and causing irreversible pro-atherogenic changes on the aortic wall.  相似文献

Bovine α-lactalbumin (α-LA) is able to interact with fatty acids, resulting in structural changes that are potentially responsible for the HAMLET/BAMLET role. Different states of α-LA induced by pH, temperature and fatty acid binding have been examined. Evidences of the structural changes of α-LA in molten globule and native states in correlation with oleic acid (OA) binding are shown using fluorescence spectroscopy and in silico approach. In addition, the α-LA was subjected to automated docking analysis, to better understand the interaction with oleic acid, using the PatchDock algorithm. The experimental results demonstrate a more flexible conformation of the protein at pH 2.5 when compared to neutral pH, thus facilitating the oleic acid binding to α-LA. The quenching experiments indicate the remarkable increase in the content of molten globule state at pH 2.5 and a more compact and rigid structure for α-LA–OA complexes at pH 7.0. The docking results are consistent with the experimental data concerning the thermal stability of the α-LA–OA complex. α-LA in different conformations/complexes was sensitive to pH and temperature. Several different molecular species induced by pH, heat treatment and oleic acid binding were suggested. The structure of the protein was more flexible at acidic pH, therefore favoring the hydrophobic exposure.  相似文献

The effect of the antioxidant activity of rosemary extract on marinated deep-water pink shrimp (Parapenaeus longirostris Lucas, 1846) stored at 1 °C was investigated. Chemical, physical, instrumental, microbiological and sensory analyses were performed to investigate the quality changes and to determine the shelf-life of marinated shrimps. Chemical composition of the shrimp was determined and no significant difference (P > 0.05) was found between the control group (without rosemary extract) and the experimental group (with rosemary extract). Both groups contained 2% citric acid. There was no significant difference (P > 0.05) between the sensory analysis of control and experimental groups on storage days 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 while rancidity was noted by the panelists in the control group on day 75. The TBA value of the control group reached the consumption limit on day 75 but it was still ‘very good’ for the experimental group. Although the bacterial load of both groups were lower than the consumption limits on storage day 75, TBA value limited the shelf-life of the control group but the experimental group was still of good quality for consumption after 75 days.  相似文献

Polymeric nanocomposites were synthesized from unsaturated polyester (UPE) matrix and montmorillonite (MMT) clay using an in situ free radical polymerization reaction. Organophilic MMT was obtained using a quaternary salt of coco amine as intercalant having a styryl group making it a reactive intercalant. The resultant nanocomposites were characterized via X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The effect of increased nanofiller loading on the thermal and mechanical properties of the nanocomposites was investigated. All the nanocomposites were found to have improved thermal and mechanical properties as compared with neat UPE matrix, resulting from the contribution of nanolayer connected intercalant‐to‐crosslinker which allows a crosslinking reaction. It was found that the partially exfoliated nanocomposite structure with an exfoliation dominant morphology was achieved when the MMT loading was 1 wt %. This nanocomposite exhibited the highest thermal stability, the best dynamic mechanical performance and the highest crosslinking density, most probably due to more homogeneous dispersion and optimum amount of styrene monomer molecules inside and outside the MMT layers at 1 wt % loading. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The adsorption capacity of UO in the presence of Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions was investigated with amidoximated poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) microbeads with an average size of 135 μm packed in a glass column (0.5‐cm i.d. and 20‐cm length, flow rate = 3 mL/min) under competitive conditions. A differential pulse polarography technique was used for the determination of trace quantities of uptaken elements by the measurement of the reduction peak currents at ?200/?950, ?400, and ?600 mV (vs a saturated calomel electrode) for UO, Pb(II), and Cd(II) ions, respectively. When only UO was found in the eluate, its adsorption was 85.3% from a 50 μM initial solution. However, when there was UO with binary systems of Pb(II) or Cd(II), it was 78.2 and 76.3%, respectively. On the other hand, in a ternary mixture of UO with Pb(II) and Cd(II), the adsorption was found to be 75.2% with the same initial concentration. According to the results, the competitive adsorption studies showed that these amidoximated PGMA microbeads had good adsorption selectivity for UO with the coexistence of Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions. Electrical and interface state properties of the borontrifluoride doped poly(3‐aminoacetophenone)/p‐Si junction have been investigated by current‐voltage and impedance spectroscopy methods. Al/p‐Si/P3APBF3/Aldiode indicates a nonideal behavior with electrical parameters (n = 3.53, ?B = 0.82 eV, and Rs = 1.48 kΩ), which result from the interfacial layer, series resistance, and resistance of the organic semiconductor. The obtained barrier height value of the Al/p‐Si/P3APBF3/Aldiode is higher than that of the conventional Al/p‐Si (?B = 0.58 eV) Schottky diode. The interface state density of the diode was of the order of 1.05× 1012 eV?1 cm?2. It is evaluated that the barrier height and interface state density values of the diode are modified using the boron trifluoride doped poly (3‐aminoacetophenone) organic semiconductor. POLYM. ENG. Neutron-induced cross-sections for the stable isotopes 180,182,183,184,186W in the energy region up to 20 MeV have been calculated. Calculations were made with the codes CEM03.01 and ALICE/ASH, using the following models: the Dubna version of the intranuclear cascade model for the cascade stage of interaction; the hybrid, the geometry dependent hybrid and the exciton model for the pre-equilibrium component; the Hauser–Feshbach and the Weisskopf–Ewing statistical models for the equilibrium component. Effects of some important model parameters such as level density parameter and pairing correction were investigated. Calculated cross-sections were compared with available experimental data in the literature and with ENDF/B-VI T = 300 K and JENDL-3.3 T = 300 K evaluated data libraries.  相似文献

In this study, high refractive index polymer (HRIP) [poly(pentabromobenzyl methacrylate-co-glycidyl methacrylate)] was investigated to obtain its optical and electrical performance for optoelectronic applications. UV characteristics of the polymer in solution of tetrahydrofuran were obtained and optical band gap energy of the polymer was calculated as 3.8 eV. I–V characteristics of the polymer were investigated after HRIP thin film was prepared using spin coating technique. The electrical parameters such as barrier height ΦBo, ideality factor n and reverse saturation current Io were extracted from the forward biasing I–V characteristics. At the same time, series resistance Rs and ΦBo were determined by using a modified Norde function combined with conventional forward I–V method.  相似文献

This paper aims to determine the factors that have an impact on the consumers’ willingness to pay a premium for hybrid automobiles in Turkey. A web-based random survey was conducted in different regions of Turkey. A questionnaire was administered to 1983 participants in January–March of 2009. The questionnaire was prepared by taking the issues raised in various sources into account. An ordered Probit model was used to meet the objective. Results show that variables such as income, gender, education, concerns about global warming, number of automobiles, importance of automobile performance, risk preference, attitude toward the alternative energy sources have an impact on the consumers’ willingness to pay a premium for hybrids. Findings suggest that consumers who have high income, higher educational level, and concerns about the global warming are more likely to pay a premium for hybrids. This study is expected to make important contributions to the current literature related to the consumers’ willingness to pay for hybrids by providing a research study from a developing country’s perspective. Results of this study also make important contributions to the policy and decision makers, environmental groups and automotive industry.  相似文献

Five anthocyanins were detected in the sweet cherry extract as follows: cyanidin 3-rutinoside, cyanidin 3-glucoside, peonidin 3-rutinoside, peonidin 3-glucoside, and pelargonidin 3-rutinoside, whereas the cyanidin 3-rutinoside was found to be in the highest amount. The effect of thermal treatment on the degradation of the polyphenolic compounds in sweet cherry extract was investigated in the range of 70–120 °C by means of fluorescence spectroscopy and spectrophotometric techniques. The fluorescence spectra were dominated by emission bands with maximum ranging from 356 nm at 25 °C to 350 nm at 110 °C. The heating of sweet cherry extract resulted in structural changes that led to a significant decrease in fluorescence intensity when increasing temperature. Degradation rate constants were estimated using a fractional conversion kinetic model. The activation energy values revealed a higher-temperature dependence of antioxidant activity, followed by anthocyanins, total polyphenols, and total flavonoids.  相似文献
