Interdigital comb-shaped electrodes were used to observe thermostimulated depolarization currents flowing on a soda glass surface in ambient gases. The experimental set up, electrode shaping by photograving and measurement procedure are described. Surface thermostimulated depolarization current (STDC) spectra were recorded on glass specimens in dioxide carbon or helium. In both cases, after short gas residence times, depolarization currents were not different from those obtained in vacuum. Different STDC spectra were recorded as the residence time of a glass specimen in CO2 was increased; these spectra also changed with polarization time and polarization temperature. In helium, STDC peaks were observed at ?110? C and ?90? C with a shoulder at ?65? C. A discussion and an attempt to interpret the results in terms of charge injection in glass involving slow adsorption or absorption of the ambient gas are given.  相似文献

Theoretical and experimental investigations on an unglazed solar hot water heater with integrated storage system were conducted. The system was comprised of a collector and storage tank which was integrated into one unit. All parts of the system have been fabricated from fiberglass reinforced polyester (GFRP). The absorber plate has water tubes of semielliptical shape. The width and length of the absorber plate were 1.4 and 1.8?m, respectively. The absorber plate was fabricated from GFPR using a special resin composition that provides good thermal conductivity and absorptivity. The storage tank has a capacity of 496?L. The storage tank is of sandwich construction with a core material made of polyurethane foam that combines stiffness and lightness of the structure with very good thermal insulation properties. An average tank temperature of 53°C was achieved at an average solar radiation level of 700?W/m2 and ambient temperature of 28°C. The thermal efficiencies of the system were evaluated at 48 and 57% for cloudy and clear days, respectively. Transient performance of the system was predicted by solving the mathematical models consisting of energy balance equations of the system that have been converted to finite difference form and solved by a personal computer. The experimental results were in close agreement as has been found with the theoretical predictions.  相似文献

A series of mesoporous silicas (MS-1-MS-9) were synthesized at different gel compositions using a triblock copolymer (TCP), poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide), as the surfactant. The interactive effects of acidity, the contents of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and the surfactant, and the gelling temperature on the characteristics of the final material were simultaneously characterized. Increasing acidity favored mesopore formation. A material with a surface area of 760 m2/g, mostly in the mesoporous range, was obtained at 1.0(TEOS):0.017(TCP):7.3HCl:115.7H2O. Mesopore formation was predominantly determined by the TEOS:TCP ratio and was promoted with its increase from 1.56:1 to 2.09:1. A further increase to 2.61:1 was detrimental. Whereas increasing the TCP content to 3.5% w/w improved micellization, a further increase to 4.6% should be avoided. Mesoporous silicas showed low crystallinity but a high degree of hexagonal mesoscopic organization. The weak surface acidity was attributed to surface silanols, the number of which was proportional to mesoporosity.  相似文献

The effect of austenitizing time on the formation of martensite in Fe–24.5%Ni–4.5%Si alloy has been studied by means of transmission electronmicroscope (TEM), scanning electronmicroscope (SEM) and Mössbauer spectroscopy technique. TEM and SEM observations revealed that the martensite morphology was found to be closely dependent on the austenitizing time. The orientation relationship between austenite and thermally induced martensite was found as the Kurdjumov-Sachs type. The volume fraction changes of martensite and austenite phases, the hyperfine magnetic field of martensite phase and isomery shift values have been determined by Mössbauer spectroscopy. The Mössbauer study also revealed that the martensite volume fractions increased with increasing austenite grain size.  相似文献

This paper describes the baseline corpus of a new multimodal biometric database, the MMU GASPFA (Gait–Speech–Face) database. The corpus in GASPFA is acquired using commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment including digital video cameras, digital voice recorder, digital camera, Kinect camera and accelerometer equipped smart phones. The corpus consists of frontal face images from the digital camera, speech utterances recorded using the digital voice recorder, gait videos with their associated data recorded using both the digital video cameras and Kinect camera simultaneously as well as accelerometer readings from the smart phones. A total of 82 participants had their biometric data recorded. MMU GASPFA is able to support both multimodal biometric authentication as well as gait action recognition. This paper describes the acquisition setup and protocols used in MMU GASPFA, as well as the content of the corpus. Baseline results from a subset of the participants are presented for validation purposes.  相似文献

Optical vegetation indices (VIs) have been used to retrieve and assess biophysical variables from satellite reflectance data. These indices, however, also are sensitive to a number of confounding factors, such as canopy geometry, soil optical properties, and solar position. This suggests that VIs should be used cautiously for biophysical parameter estimation. Among biophysical variables, chlorophyll content is of particular importance as an indicator of photosynthetic activity. The goal of this study is to investigate the performance of multispectral optical VIs for chlorophyll content estimation in the world’s largest mangrove forest, the Sundarbans, and to compare these with machine-learning algorithms (MLAs). To this end, we have investigated the performance of 15 multispectral VIs and six state-of-the-art MLAs that are widely used for adaptive data fitting. The MLAs are Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Gaussian Processes for Machine Learning (GPML), Kernel Ridge Regression (KRR), Locally Weighted Polynomials (LWP), and Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS). We use an in situ data set of reflectance and chlorophyll measurements to develop and validate our models. Each MLA was evaluated 500 times with random partitions of training and validation data. Results showed that the weight optimization and term selection used within GA produce the most reliable chlorophyll content estimation. However, green normalized difference VI (GNDVI) is a simple and computationally efficient VI that produces results that are nearly as accurate as GA in terms of model fit and performance. Results also show that all methods except ANNs and MARS produce a quasi-linear relationship between spectral reflectance and chlorophyll content. Statistical transformations of GNDVI and chlorophyll content have the capability of further reducing model error.  相似文献

A communication protocol is a set of rules shared by two or more communicating parties on the sequence of operations and the format of messages to be exchanged. Standardization organizations define protocols in the form of recommendations (e.g., RFC) written in technical English, which requires a manual translation of the specification into the protocol implementation. This human translation is error-prone due in part to the ambiguities of natural language and in part due to the complexity of some protocols. To mitigate these problems, we divided the expression of a protocol specification into two parts. First, we designed an XML-based protocol specification language (XPSL) that allows for the high-level specification of a protocol—expressed as a Finite State Machine (FSM)—using Component-Based Software Engineering (CBSE) principles. Then, the components required by the protocol are specified in any suitable technical language (formal or informal). In addition, we developed the multi-layer Meta-Protocol framework, which allows for on-the-fly protocol discovery and negotiation, distribution of protocol specifications and components, and automatic protocol implementation in any programming language.  相似文献

In this study, by using equilibrium and pre-equilibrium reaction mechanisms, the (p,xn) cross-sections of the spallation neutron target nuclei 50,52,53,54Cr and 63,65Cu were investigated for incident proton energies up to 100 MeV. The excitation functions for pre-equilibrium reaction mechanisms were calculated by using a hybrid model, a geometry dependent hybrid model, the full exciton model and the cascade exciton model. Equilibrium effects were calculated according to the Weisskopf–Ewing model. The calculation results were also compared with the measurements in literature.  相似文献

For nonstationary processes, classical frequency estimation methods are incapable of describing and showing the information embedded in the process. That is, because the statistical characteristics (SC) of the nonstationary processes are changing with time, estimation methods based on the stationarity assumption do not reflect this variation. Therefore, the idea of the time-frequency (TF) distribution has been introduced in the literature. Different methods for estimating the TF distribution (TFD) of a nonstationary process have also been proposed in the literature. All of these methods, however, depend on the degree of nonstationarity (DON) of the process, which, although of utmost importance, has not been yet addressed in the literature. In this paper, an algorithm for estimating the time-varying components (TVCs), and hence the TF kernel, of a non-stationary process by using orthogonal projection is proposed. The process is carried out by projecting each component of the process onto an expanding orthogonal basis. The TF kernel is then estimated with an order based on the dimensionality of the expanding orthogonal basis. Some experimental results are presented when the process has either single or multiple TVCs. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Masjid Al-Haram in Saudi Arabia is one of the most crowded pilgrimage locations in the world. More than two million pilgrims gather in Saudi Arabia annually during the Hajj season, and it is compulsory for them to perform a series of actions in the mosque. In the court area, pilgrims perform one of the most important rituals of Hajj, called Tawaf, which consists of seven laps of circular movement around the Kaabah, which is situated in the centre of the court. After the Tawaf, pilgrims pray in the court and leave from one of several doors. In this paper, we present a cellular automata model for the simulation of the pilgrims’ circular Tawaf movement. We also use a discrete-event model to simulate the actions and behaviours of the pilgrims. The proposed models are used in a software platform to simulate the actions and movements of pilgrims in the area. We then present an example application of the model in predicting whether specific changes to the architecture could increase the throughput of the system.  相似文献
