An intensive regimen of pelotherapy in pulmonology

The authors show that intensification of peloid therapy, i.e. more frequent procedures, in patients with pulmonary diseases imposes additional load on the regulatory systems: vegetative, cardiovascular, immune. Moderate balneological reactions become more frequent, therapeutic results worsen. How to correct the above negative effects is proposed.     

A mechanism for the effect of surface-active substances on the destruction of silica materials (Review)

A review of papers distinguished by a principally new approach to the analysis of the effect of the ambient on near-surface deformation, friction, and abrasive wear of inorganic materials is presented. The effect of surface-active medium is considered from the standpoint of adsorption-activated changes in the near-surface layer of brittle nonmetallic materials. Data obtained by modern investigation techniques are presented that show that different media have different mechanisms of interaction with the processed surface.     

Quasi-static susceptibility derived from field induced

Quasi-Static (QS) susceptibility was derived from field induced strain in ferroelectric ceramics with Diffuse Phase Transition (DPT). This QS susceptibility was observed to be determined by the field amplitude, the smooth dependence ε(E) being on the strong fields and the sharp falling ε(E) being on the small fields.     

Semiempirical model of carbon dioxide boiling in tubes

A mathematical model of the evaporator of a heat pump with carbon dioxide as a working medium and water as a heat-transfer medium is constructed and used to calculate the hydrodynamic and heat-and mass-transfer processes in boiling liquid convection, liquid film evaporation, film breakup, drop settling, and disperse flow. The coupled heat transfer between the working medium and the heat-transfer medium in a countercurrent evaporator is considered. The calculation results are compared with the experimental data.     

Change in molecular parameters of aromatic polyamides on heating

Conclusions Changes in the molecular parameters of aromatic polyamides on heating have been evaluated by the methods of viscosimetry and light-scattering.The suggestion has been made that on heating up to 300°C the decisive processes which take place on the molecular level are further polycondensation, change in molecular weight distribution, and change in conformation of the macromolecules.Translated from Khimicheskie Volokna, No. 2, p. 20, March–April, 1988.     

The choice of the method for the surgical treatment of bladder exstrophy

129 children with exstrophy of the bladder underwent primary surgical reconstruction according to G. A. Bairov. Morphofunctional findings in these children gave grounds for determination of three degrees of the bladder congenital defects. 39 patients had defect of the 1st degree, 53 of the 2nd and 37 of the 3d degree. The results of plastic reconstruction of the bladder with local tissue support the validity of such procedure only for patients with the congenital defect degree I. For degree II the benefit is relative. In degree III plastic surgery in contraindicated.     

Gene amplification and rearrangement of murine ribosomal RNA in virus-induced Rauscher leukemia

Using as a hybridization probe cDNA 35s RNA from the Rauscher leukemia cells, a part of rRNA gene cluster from the gene library of mice C-1 erythroleukemia cells has been cloned. Fragment 6.7 kb recloned into pUC19 rRNA was used as a probe to analyse organization of rRNA genes of mice with RL. The observed amplification and rearrangement in genome DNA of spleen cells are determined by a new type of their rRNA genes rearrangement in the nontranscribed as well as in the transcribed part of rRNA.
