Bioenergy is the largest renewable energy source in Mexico with an estimated 4–9% of total current energy demand. There are large uncertainties and contrasting estimates regarding its current extent and end-uses, particularly with traditional uses. However, a large potential exists to improve the efficiency of existing uses and, at the same time, to diversify the use of SBF in the industrial and power sectors. This paper aims at: providing the first updated and comprehensive estimate of current SBF demand in Mexico including traditional and modern uses; providing a consistent estimate of actual SBF supply potential; estimating the total potential substitution of fossil fuels that could be achieved by SBF considering an integrated “modernization scenario”; and finally describing the main barriers limiting SBF to fully triggering its potential. Results show that current SBF consumption reached 481 PJ/yr in 2015; SBF supply potential reaches 3622 PJ/yr, out of which 883 PJ/yr could be used to substitute up to 29% of current demand of FF, mitigating 66 MtCO2e/yr of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, or near 88 MtCO2e/yr if mitigation from traditional uses is added.  相似文献

Hydrogen-based niobates and niobate-titanates were derived from the pyrochlores Pb1.5Nb2O6.5 (PN) and Pb2Nb1.33Ti0.67O6.67 (PNT) by ion exchange in acid baths, affording sub-micron size white powders. The niobium sublattice was left intact, as shown by X-ray diffraction. A combination of stripping and thermogravimetric analyses gave the effective formulas H2.66Pb0.17Nb2O6.5·0.5H2O (HPN) and H3.88Pb0.06Nb1.33Ti0.67O6.67·0.33H2O (HPNT). The corresponding structural refinements gave good fits to the XRD data. Densities measured by He pycnometry agreed with densities calculated from XRD analyses and the effective formulas. Thermal stability was assessed by TGA, DSC, and XRD. With increasing temperature, HPN and HPNT lost weight (H2O), becoming amorphous, and then transforming to crystalline phases, with greatly reduced particle size. HPN was more stable than HPNT. The electrical conductivities of powder compacts in wet atmospheres were moderate and attributed mainly to proton conduction; i.e., 10−6 to 10−5 S cm−1 for HPN and 10−7 to 10−6 S cm−1 for HPNT (from room temperature to 230 °C). Experimental results were interpreted in terms of Nb(V) being a stronger electron acceptor than Ti(IV).  相似文献

Ion beam mixing has been studied since 1980, and since then a lot of experimental and theoretical work has been done and knowledge has been gathered. Nevertheless, there are still many fundamental aspects that need to be clarified and with that aim many experiments need to be performed. Copper and iron are miscible in the liquid state, while silver and iron are not. However, both systems are thermally immiscible in the solid state. In order to have an insight into the importance of mixing within thermal spikes during ion beam irradiation, we deposited Cu/Fe and Ag/Fe bilayers onto Si substrates and irradiated them at room temperature with 2 MeV Cu and 2.5 MeV Au ions. A combination of Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to analyze the atomic transport at the interface and the morphology changes of the samples. From the element profiles at the interface we conclude a mixing efficiency, which is indeed larger than the prediction of the ballistic model in the Cu/Fe system and smaller in the Ag/Fe system. Since ballistic mixing is expected in any case, we argue that demixing and phase separation in the Ag/Fe system occur in the thermal spike phase of the cascade as a consequence of the positive heat of mixing. Further mixing does occur in the thermal spike in the Cu/Fe system and they remain mixed even at the solid state because of the high cooling rate. In addition, ion irradiation induces a large surface roughening of the Ag and Cu top layers as proven by AFM. This effect is important for the correct interpretation of the results. Furthermore, this recrystallization affects also the interface, producing a rough interface, that appears in the RBS spectra as an atomic ‘diffusion’ at the interface.  相似文献

Abstract: This paper presents a case study of the use of a repeated single‐criterion card sort with an unusually large, diverse participant group. The study, whose goal was to elicit novice programmers' knowledge of programming concepts, involved over 20 researchers from four continents and 276 participants drawn from 20 different institutions. In this paper we present the design of the study and the unexpected result that there were few discernible systematic differences in the population. The study was one of the activities of the National Science Foundation funded Bootstrapping Research in Computer Science Education project (2003).  相似文献

This paper presents a level set topology optimization method for manipulation of stress and strain integral functions in a prescribed region (herein called sub-structure) of a linear elastic domain. The method is able to deviate or concentrate the flux of stress in the sub-structure by optimizing the shape and topologies of the boundaries outside of that region. A general integral objective function is proposed and its shape sensitivities are derived. For stress isolation or maximization, a von Mises stress integral is used and results show that stresses in the sub-structure can be drastically reduced. For strain control, a strain integral combined with a vector able to select the component of the strain is used. A combination of both can be used to minimize deformation of a prescribed direction. Numerical results show that strain can be efficiently minimized or maximized for a wide range of directions. The proposed methodology can be applied to stress isolation of highly sensitive non strain-based sensors, design for failure, maximization of mechanical strain and strain direction control for strain-based sensors and microdevices.  相似文献

The popularity of herbal products, especially plant food supplements (PFS) and herbal medicine is on the rise in Europe and other parts of the world, with increased use in the general population as well as among specific subgroups encompassing children, women or those suffering from diseases such as cancer. The aim of this paper is to examine the PFS market structures in European Community (EC) Member States as well as to examine issues addressing methodologies and consumption data relating to PFS use in Europe. A revision of recent reports on market data, trends and main distribution channels, in addition an example of the consumption of PFS in Spain, is presented. An overview of the methods and administration techniques used to assess individual food consumption as a starting point, including their uses and limitations, as well as some examples of studies that collect Food Supplement (FS) information, including herbal/botanical/plant-derived products are also discussed. Additionally, the intake estimation process of food nutrients is described and used to propose the PFS ingredients intake estimation process. Nationally representative PFS consumption data is scarce in Europe. The majority of studies have been conducted in Scandinavia and the UK. However the heterogeneity of definitions, study design and objectives make it difficult to compare results and extrapolate conclusions.  相似文献

The presence of tetrazine units in the organic nodes of UiO-68-TZCD controls the formation of ultrathin coatings of single-wall nanotubes that decorate the surface of the crystal. These crystal hybrids can be prepared straightforwardly in one step and are extraordinarily respectful with the properties of the framework for combination of mesoporosity and surface areas ≈4.000 m2 g−1, with excellent stability in water, and conductivities at room temperature of 4 × 10−2 S cm−1 even at very low carbon weight contents (2.3 wt.%).  相似文献

Entry into quiescence in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe is induced by nitrogen starvation. In the absence of nitrogen, proliferating fission yeast cells divide twice without cell growth and undergo cell cycle arrest in G1 before becoming G0 quiescent cells. Under these conditions, autophagy is induced to produce enough nitrogen for the two successive cell divisions that take place before the G1 arrest. In parallel to the induction of autophagy, the Greatwall–Endosulfine switch is activated upon nitrogen starvation to down-regulate protein phosphatase PP2A/B55 activity, which is essential for cell cycle arrest in G1 and implementation of the quiescent program. Here we show that, although inactivation of PP2A/B55 by the Greatwall–Endosulfine switch is not required to promote autophagy initiation, it increases autophagic flux at least in part by upregulating the expression of a number of autophagy-related genes.  相似文献
