The bulk copolymerization of styrene–acrylonitrile monomers using styrene‐N+–montmorillonite complex as a comonomer in the polymerization was studied. The X‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that part of the styrene‐N+–montmorillonite complex remained non‐dispersed (immiscible) and the copolymer was excluded from the interlayer of the immiscible part of the clay. The successive chemical extraction process revealed that a reasonable amount of the styrene–acrylonitrile copolymer was directly attached to the styrene‐N+–montmorillonite complex and enveloped the clay. Highly exfoliated clay lamella and nanospheres (3–5 nm) were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The montmorillonite clay assume two different morphologies, immiscible and exfoliated, on the basis of the XRD and TEM data. A simple method of calculation of the ratio of the exfoliated/immiscible amounts of the clay indicated that the amount of the styrene‐N+–montmorillonite complex exfoliated into separate lamella was 40 % (w/w) of the amount of the clay samples containing 2 % of the (styrene‐N+–montmorillonite complex) clay. This amount of exfoliated clay decreases with the increase of the concentration of the clay. The presence of the styrene‐N+–montmorillonite clay in the copolymerization reaction had a minor effect on both the copolymer composition and the molecular weight. Modification of the clay with the derivatized styrene monomer can achieve a nanocomposite using a percentage no more than 4 % (w/w) of complex in the copolymer. This paper presents the dynamic modeling of a continuous three-dimensional swimming eel-like robot. The modeling approach is based on the "geometrically exact beam theory" and on that of Newton-Euler, as it is well known within the robotics community. Coevaporates of paracetamol and rifampicin with Eudragit polymers of different natures (anionic, cationic, and zwitterionic) were prepared. Determination of dissolution rate of these coevaporates in dissolution media simulating those of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) revealed that the release rate of paracetamol is retarded from all the coevaporates studied. In this respect, Eudragit L100-SS shows the highest sustainment of drug release, while Eudragit E100 shows the lowest. Conversely, the release of rifampicin from its coevaporates with the anionic Eudragit S100 polymer is more retarded than the corresponding coevaporate with the zwitterionic Eudragit RL100 or from coevaporates with equal mixtures of the two polymers.
Increasing the polymer weight fraction in rifampicin coevaporates with Eudragit S100 up to 0.5 resulted in a corresponding decrease in the dissolution rate. However, beyond this weight fraction, the polymer effect on the dissolution rate of the drug becomes minimized. The results confirmed that the process of dissolution of the two drugs from their coevaporates is a diffusion-controlled release process.
The biological performance of paracetamol coevaporates was monitored in rabbits; paracetamol level in plasma was found to follow first-order kinetics. for all the investigated paracetamol coevaporates, the peak plasma level was less than 50 μg/ml compared to a value of 60, μg/ml for the drug per se. The coevaporates of the drug with Eudragit L100-55 showed slowest rates of absorption and elimination as well as greatest half-peak and half-life times. Biological peformance of rifampicin coevaporates was assessed in human subjects receiving a single oral dose equivalent to 300 mg of the drug. The results depicted sustainment of drug release as a function of polymer weight fraction. A strict correlation was shown to exist between the total amount of drug excreted during 24 hr post dosing of the coevaporates and its in vitro dissolution rate.
The results depicted that paracetamol can be formulated in the form of a coevaporate with Eudragit L100-55 to prepare a more safe sustained-release formulation with minimal side effects, and also revealed the advantages of administration of rifampicin in the form of a coevaporate with Eudragit S100 (4:1) at a single oral dose equivalent to 600 mg of drug. 相似文献

Cotton and cotton/polyester fabrics were treated against microbial attack by applying a formulation based essentially on ZnO under high‐energy radiation and thermal curing. To achieve the homogeneity and the reactivity of the treating formulation, a binder (Impron MTP) and a dispersing agent (Setamol WS) were used with ZnO. The antimicrobial property of the fabrics was evaluated, in terms of mechanical properties, by a soil burial test. Moreover, the effect of antimicrobial finishing on the dyeing properties in terms of color strength was investigated. It was found that the best composition that affords the best antimicrobial protection to cotton fabrics contains 2% ZnO, 2% binder, and 1% dispersing agents. For the cotton/polyester blend, the best results were achieved at the same conditions except the ZnO was 1%. It was found that the treatment under the effect of electron‐beam irradiation is better than that of gamma irradiation and thermal curing. The results showed that when the finishing process was carried out before dyeing with a reactive dye, it affects the color strength rather than performing the finishing after the dyeing process. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Anodic charging curves have been measured on polycrystalline Bi in H2SO4 solutions (0·01–6·0 N) at 30°C. The effect of various experimental procedures, eg electrode treatment and stirring, has been established. The anodic behaviour of Bi depends markedly on the acid concentration. In the high range, the results indicate dissolution which follows a Tafel relation. However, in dilute solutions, growth of oxide film occurs, and the potential rises rapidly with time, reaching over 100 V at high cds. Sparking and oxide breakdown start at about 150 V. Oxide growth follows the high field ionic conduction. The reciprocal capacitance is linearly related to the logarithm of cd. The constants of the exponential law, the half-barrier width, and the field strength have been calculated The last lies between 1 and 3 × 106 V/cm at 1 mA/cm2. Dielectric breakdown in ceramics and composites has previously been determined by the dielectric breakdown model, dependent only on the electric field strength at a certain point and intermolecular distance in a lattice. This does not take into account quantum aspects of the lattice structure into account. The present model takes into account quantum variations of particles in conjunction with different particle characteristics. The present work reports on the effect of input plasma processing power in the range of 350–650 W on the microstructure and mechanical properties of plasma nitrided Ti. The plasma processing time was 20 min and a gas mixture of 15% C2H2 and 85% N2 was used. The characteristics of the carbonitrided layer have been investigated by microhardness measurements, surface roughness measurements, optical microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The measured surface hardness values of the compound layer shows a maximum of 2050 HV0.1 for the sample treated at a plasma power of 550 W. The thickness of the carbonitrided layer continuously increases as the plasma power increases. Moreover, the highest carbonitriding rate of 3.52 μm2/s was observed when the input plasma power was adjusted at 600 W. This high carbonitriding rate of treated titanium samples is ascribed to the high concentration of active carbon and nitrogen species in the plasma atmosphere and the formed microcracks in the near surface of the sample during the plasma processing. 相似文献

For a class of nonlinear systems with the representation {A(x), B(x), C} and where the system parameters and dynamics are unknown, a simple adaptive synergetic controller ensuring the asymptotic convergence of the system to a desired manifold is proposed based on the technique of simple adaptive control (SAC). It is well known that the design of the synergetic control (SC) law requires a thorough knowledge of the system parameters and dynamics. Such problem obstructs the synthesis of the SC law and the designer is prompted to pass through the estimation methods, which, in turn, poses a problem of increasing the computation time of the control algorithm. To cope with this problem, a solution is proposed by modifying the original SC law to develop an SAC‐like adaptive SC law without the need of prior knowledge of the system. The stability of the proposed adaptive controller is formally proven via the Lyapunov approach. Experimental application to a quadrotor system is given to validate the theoretical results. 相似文献

A very compact ultra-low power DC-DC buck converter is presented. The proposed buck converter employs a novel complement value leaping pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique to realize the desired DC mean-value for various loads. Incorporating just two counters with a simple digital controller to load the repeatedly complemented value of the 4bit up/down counter as the initial value of the least significant bits of the 5bit up counter, a PWM pulse is created to manage the charge/recharge period. The realized PWM signal maintains the same desired output voltage mean value for any load resistance between 80 and 140 Ω. The switching frequency is 160 kHz, and the overall power consumption is 26.9 nW, while the efficiency is 93.4% for current range of 1.7 to 3 mA. The performance of the proposed converter is validated by Cadence post-layout simulations utilizing TSMC180nm CMOS technology for 1-V supply voltage providing the output voltage mean value of 0.24 V. 相似文献
