Structural and electrical measurements of CdZnSe composite

TheI—Vcharacterization and the electrical resistivity of selenium rich Se₈₅Cd_15-xZn_x (x = 0, 3, 7, 11 and 15) system at room temperature have been studied. Samples were obtained using melt cooling technique. So prepared samples were then characterized in terms of their crystal structure and lattice parameter using X-ray diffraction method. The materials were found to be poly crystalline in nature, having zinc blend structure over the whole range of zinc concentration. The measurements ofI—V bdcharacteristics have been carried out at different temperatures from room to 140°C. The electrical resistivity of the samples with composition at room temperature has been found to vary between maximum 2.7 x 10⁸ Ωm and minimum 7.3 x 10⁵ Ωm and shows a maximum at 3 at. wt.% of Zn. The carrier activation energy of the samples with composition has also been determined and found to vary from 0.026 eV to 0.111 eV.     

A simple correlation for estimating viscosities of solutions of salts in aqueous,non-aqueous and mixed solvents applicable to high concentration,temperature and pressure

A new correlation is proposed to correlate the viscosities of salt solutions in aqueous, non-aqueous solvents and their mixtures. The correlation involves two parameters i.e. solvation number and ion-solvent interaction coefficient, which are well-documented quantities in the literature. The proposed correlation has been examined on the experimental viscosity data of salt solutions in aqueous, non-aqueous and their mixtures up to 473 K and 31 MPa pressure. The salts with various ionic charges were employed for testing the proposed correlation. Several non-aqueous solvents like dimethyl sulphoxide, alcohols and formamide were included for the data regression. The viscosities of these solutions can be correlated to within 0.7%.     

Studies on miscibility of blends of ethylene methyl acrylate and polydimethyl siloxane rubber

Blends of ethylene methyl acrylate (EMA) and poly(dimethylsiloxane) rubber (PDMS) are demonstrated to be miscible. The miscibility results in a single and composition-dependent glass transition temperature. IR spectra of the blends provide direct evidence of chemical reaction between EMA and PDMS rubber.     

Equivalent refractive index of MQW waveguides

In this paper, we have proposed some new numerical and semi-analytical methods for developing an equivalent three-layer model of an MQW waveguide. The waveguiding properties like effective index, field distribution, and fractional power within the core of the waveguide of these equivalent structures are compared with those of previously reported equivalent methods. These results are also compared with the results obtained from the exact multilayer analysis of the MQW waveguide. The waveguiding properties are accurately predicted by the semi-analytical method using variational analysis, and the computational effort is significantly reduced. The use of the three-layer equivalent is illustrated in obtaining an estimation of the waveguide losses and is used to study the effect of nonlinearity     

Fibular shortening in poliomyelitis

We have determined the nucleotide and encoded amino acid sequences of the capsid, membrane precursor, membrane, envelope, and nonstructural NS1 protein genes of a dengue-2 virus (D2-04) isolated from a patient in Hainan, China. The sequenced region contains a gene organization similar to that of other flaviviruses. The overall amino acid sequence similarity between D2-04 and other dengue-2 viruses is greater than 92%, whereas that between D2-04 and members of the other dengue serotypes is about 65%.     

Differential proteomics of human seminal plasma: A potential target for searching male infertility marker proteins

The clinical fertility tests, available in the market, fail to define the exact cause of male infertility in almost half of the cases and point toward a crucial need of developing better ways of infertility investigations. The protein biomarkers may help us toward better understanding of unknown cases of male infertility that, in turn, can guide us to find better therapeutic solutions. Many clinical attempts have been made to identify biomarkers of male infertility in sperm proteome but only few studies have targeted seminal plasma. Human seminal plasma is a rich source of proteins that are essentially required for development of sperm and successful fertilization. This viewpoint article highlights the importance of human seminal plasma proteome in reproductive physiology and suggests that differential proteomics integrated with functional analysis may help us in searching potential biomarkers of male infertility.
