Acyl group migration is a fundamental phenomenon in carbohydrate chemistry, recently shown to take place also between two non-adjacent hydroxyl groups, across the glycosidic bond, in a β-(1→4)-linked mannan trisaccharide model compound. With the central mannoside unit containing acetyl groups at the O2 and O3 positions, the O2-acetyl was in the earlier study shown to migrate to O6 of the reducing end. Potential implications of the general acyl migration process on cell signaling events and plant growth in nature are intriguing open questions. In the present work, migration kinetics in this original trisaccharide model system were studied in more detail together with potential interactions of the model compound and the migration products with DC-SIGN lectin. Furthermore, we demonstrate here for the first time that similar migration may also take place in native polysaccharides, here represented by galactoglucomannan from Norway spruce.  相似文献

The absolute transmission values of the RITU gas-filled recoil separator have been measured for several fusion evaporation products. Three different beams and several targets were used to create fusion evaporation residues in mass region A=170-190 mainly in neutron evaporation channels. Measured absolute transmission values from around 7% up to round about 90% have been observed for very asymmetric and symmetric reactions, respectively. For the reactions studied it was observed that the angular spread of products after the target and the angular acceptance of RITU determine the transmission probability relatively accurately. Magnetic rigidities and equilibrium charges of the product ions were seen to systemically decrease and increase, respectively, with increasing gas pressure. The comparison of observed equilibrium charges to various formulae is carried out. Clear minima of image width were found in case of asymmetric reactions as a function of gas pressure. Effects of the position of an additional movable beam stopper and the field strength of the first quadrupole magnet on transmission have been studied and are reported.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the potential role of rosemary compounds in inhibiting the plant sterol oxidation in extra virgin olive oil during heating. The stability of plant sterols was measured by quantification of plant sterol and sterol oxide formation upon 6 h of heating in both the extra virgin olive oil and its respective oil at 10% rosemary concentration (ROE). The total sterol and sitosterol oxide contents were determined by GC-flame ionization detection (GC-FID) and GC-MS techniques, respectively. Heating experiments were carried out at 180 degrees C for 0, 1, 3 and 6 h. The total sterol content in the extra virgin olive oil was 255 mg/100 g and that in the ROE 270 mg/100 g. Sitosterol was the most abundant sterol in both samples (50% of total sterol). The ROE showed a lower content of sitosterol oxides with respect to the extra virgin olive oil during heating: after 6 h of heating only 6.1% of sitosterol oxides were formed, while up to 11.5% of sitosterol oxidized in the extra virgin olive oil. Our findings suggested that rosemary compounds were able to counteract the oxidation of plant sterols in the extra virgin olive oil during heating, preventing formation of potentially harmful compounds to human health.  相似文献

We previously demonstrated the potential of di- or trisubstituted azulenes as ligands (potentiators, weak agonists, and antagonists) of the orexin receptors. In this study we investigated 27 1-benzoylazulene derivatives, uncovering seven potentiators of the orexin response on OX1 and two weak dual orexin receptor agonists. For potentiators, replacement of the azulene scaffold by indole retained the activity of four out of six compounds. The structure–activity relationships for agonism and potentiation can be summarized into a bicyclic aromatic ring system substituted with two hydrogen-bond acceptors (1-position, benzoyl; 6-position, carboxyl/ester) within 7–8 Å of each other; a third acceptor at the 3-position is also well tolerated. The same pharmacophoric signature is found in the preferred conformations of the orexin receptor agonist Nag26 from molecular dynamics simulations. Subtle changes switch the activity between weak agonism and potentiation, suggesting overlapping binding sites.  相似文献

Inter-organizational projects struggle to build a sense of joint belonging and a culture of cooperation. In evaluating the social processes of collaboration in inter-organizational projects, organizational identity is considered a core concept. To extend existing knowledge of how collaborative identity is formed in inter-organizational infrastructure projects, the study investigates how the specific characteristics of temporary organizations (time, team, task and context) influence identity formation activities. A case study of the first Finnish infrastructure alliance project identifies six key activities supporting the formation of collaborative project identity: (1) articulating a joint vision for collaborative project identity; (2) converging on mutual conceptions of collaborative project alliance philosophy; (3) attaining a shared collaborative mentality; (4) designing ways of working with multiple identities; (5) attaining distinctiveness and (6) legitimizing activities. The findings indicate that identity formation activities are context-dependent, and that the formation of organizational identity differs between temporary and permanent organizations. The findings illuminate how managers can build a collaborative project identity.  相似文献

The antioxidant effects of α-and γ-tocopherols (at 0, 10, 100, 500, and 1000 ppm) were evaluated in a model system based on the autoxidation of methyl linoleate in bulk for 4 d at 40°C. Samples were collected every 24 h and analyzed for the 9 cis,trans, 9 trans,trans, 13 cis,trans, and 13 trans,trans isomers of hydroperoxide, hydroxy, and ketodiene oxidation products by high-performance liquid chromatography. Results showed that both α- and γ-tocopherols are effective hydrogen donors as evidenced by their abilities to inhibit the formation of hydroperoxides, hydroxy compounds, and ketodienes and the cis,trans to trans,trans isomerization of hydroperoxides. Compared with γ-tocopherol, α-tocopherol was a more efficient antioxidant at very low concentrations (10 ppm) but a less efficient antioxidant at the high concentrations (100–1000 ppm). This paradoxical behavior is explained on the basis of differences in ease of hydrogen donation between the two tocopherol homologs. Although α-tocopherol shows some loss of efficiency with increasing concentration, it is not a prooxidant when compared to the control void of antioxidants.  相似文献

This study compared the profiles of fatty acids, phytosterols, and polyamine conjugates in conventional commercial corn oil extracted from corn germ and in two “new-generation” corn oils: hexane-extracted corn fiber oil and ethanol-extracted corn kernel oil. The fatty acid compositions of all three corn oils were very similar and were unaffected by degumming, refining, bleaching, and deodorization. The levels of total phytosterols in crude corn fiber oil were about tenfold higher than those in commercial corn oil, and their levels in crude corn kernel oil were more than twofold higher than in conventional corn oil. When corn kernel oil was subjected to conventional degumming, refining, bleaching, and deodorization, about half of the phytosterols was removed, whereas when corn fiber oil was subjected to a gentle form of degumming, refining, bleaching, and deodorization, only about 10% of the phytosterols was removed. Finally, when the levels of polyamine conjugates (diferuloylputrescine and p-coumaroyl feruloylputrescine) were examined in these corn oils, they were only detected in the ethanol-extracted crude corn kernel oil, confirming earlier reports that they were not extracted by hexane, and providing new information that they could be removed from ethanol-extracted corn kernel oil by conventional degumming, refining, bleaching, and deodorizing.  相似文献

This paper studies disciplinary differences in citation impacts of different types of co-publishing. The citation impacts of international, domestic inter-organizational and domestic intra-organizational co-publications, and single-authored publications, are compared. In particular, we examine the extent to which the number of authors explains the potential differences in citation impacts when compared to the influence of different types of international and domestic collaborations. The analysis is based on Finland’s publications in Thomson Reuters Web of Science database in 1990–2008. Finland is a small country, thus, it has fewer opportunities to find collaborators inside own country when compared to larger countries. Finland’s science policy has underlined internationalization and research collaboration as key means to increase the quality and impact of Finnish research. This study indicates that both international and domestic co-publishing have steadily increased during the past two decades in all disciplinary groups. International co-publications gain on average more citations than domestic co-publications. In natural sciences and engineering, co-authorship explains only a small proportion of variability in publications’ citation rates. When the effect of the number of authors is taken into account there are no big differences in citation impacts between international and domestic co-publications. However, international co-publications by ten authors or more gather significantly more citations than other publications. In humanities, the difference in citation impacts between co-authored publications in relation to single-authored publications is significant. However, international co-publications are not on average more highly cited in relation to domestic co-publications in humanities.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To determine whether low-field MR fat/water separation and magnetisation transfer (MT) techniques are useful in studying the livers of patients with parenchymal liver diseases in vivo. MATERIAL AND METHODS: MR and MT imaging of the liver in 33 patients (14 with primary biliary cirrhosis, 15 with alcohol-induced liver disease, and 4 with fatty liver) was performed by means of the fat/water separation technique at 0.1 T. The relaxation time T1 and the MT contrast (MTC) parameter of liver and spleen tissue were measured, and the relative proton density fat content N(%) and MTC of the liver were calculated from the separate fat and water images. The value of N(%) was also compared with the percentage of fatty hepatocytes at histology. RESULTS: The relaxation rate R1 of liver measured from the magnitude image, and the difference in the value of MTC measured from the water image compared with the one measured from the fat and water magnitude image, both depended linearly on the value of N(%). The value of N(%) correlated significantly with the percentage of the fatty hepatocytes. In in vivo fatty tissue, fat infiltration increased both the observed relaxation rate R1 and the measured magnetisation ratio (the steady state magnetisation MS divided by the equilibrium magnetisation MO, MS/MO) and consequently decreased the MT efficiency measured in a magnitude MR image. The amount of liver fibrosis did not correlate with the value of MTC measured after fat separation. CONCLUSION: Our results in studying fatty livers with MR imaging and the MT method show that the fat/water separation gives more reliable parametric results. Characterisation of liver cirrhosis by means of the MTC parameter is not reliable, even after fat separation.  相似文献
