This paper presents a new model for nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete beam–columns with bond–slip. The model is derived from a two-field mixed formulation with independent approximation of forces and displacements. The state determination algorithm for the implementation of the model in a general purpose nonlinear finite-element analysis program is presented and its stability characteristics are discussed. Both, bond–slip and pull-out effects, are represented in the model. The paper concludes with a correlation study to investigate the validity of the model. The study confirmed the accuracy of the model in representing global and particularly local parameters.  相似文献

We have studied the role of DNA polymerase III, encoded in S. cerevisiae by the CDC2 gene, in the repair of yeast nuclear DNA. It was found that the repair of MMS-induced single-strand breaks is defective in the DNA polymerase III temperature-sensitive mutant cdc2-1 at the restrictive temperature (37 degrees C), but is not affected at the permissive temperature (23 degrees C). Under conditions where only a small number of lesions was introduced into DNA (80% survival), the repair of MMS-induced damage could also be observed in the mutant at the restrictive temperature, although with low efficiency. When the quantity of lesions increased (50% survival or less), the repair of single-strand breaks was blocked. At the same time we observed a high rate of reversion in the meth, his and trp loci of the cdc2-1 mutant under restrictive conditions. The results presented suggest that DNA polymerase III is involved in the repair of MMS-induced lesions in yeast DNA and that the cdc2-1 mutation affects the proofreading activity of this polymerase.  相似文献

The authors express concern that this profession is offering interventions that patients in need cannot access and studying patients who may not be in particular need of intervention and who therefore fail to demonstrate substantial improvement. Peculiarities of magnetization of ferromagnetic bars in a magnet-saturation regime are considered. By an example of a model specimen made of an isotropic ferromagnet in the form of infinitely long bar having a rectangular section and magnetized in a transverse magnetic field, calculations of magnetic parameters for a central section of the body are performed. It is shown that, as the magnet saturates, the central demagnetizing factor of ferromagnetic bars of any relative length always exceeds the demagnetizing factor of a uniformly magnetized bar because of the “ rotational” magnetization of the material.  相似文献

The effects of kiln-drying process variables on drying time and final moisture content (MC) variability were assessed using a mathematical drying model (a kiln-wide model) developed earlier. Drying time was predicted to decrease by using higher air velocities and temperatures and, to a less extent, by increasing fan reversal frequencies. The drying time extended as board thickness or stack width increased. Increase in air velocity from 5 to 8 m/s tended to minimize the final MC variability. At least three reversals in the early stages of drying were required to reduce final moisture contents variation. The final MC variability increased with increasing stack width and with increasing temperature.  相似文献

Changes in the orientation of crystal axes of Al-0.8 wt% Si single crystals in the presence of two different particle sizes and inter-particle spacings were investigated during uniaxial compression. The orientation of crystal axes before and after deformation was precisely determined by the diffractometer method in the unit triangle of the stereographic projection. The reorientation of the compression axes after deformation was found to be influenced by particle size and initial orientation of the undeformed crystals. It was found that particle size also influenced the yield strength and work-hardening characteristics which was explained on the basis of Orowan stresses and solid-solution strengthening.  相似文献

Performance of compressively strained (CS) GaInAsP-InP quantum-wire (QWR) electro-absorption modulators (EAMs) is theoretically studied using an eight-band kldrp model. An empirical relationship is proposed for the quantum-confined Stark shift in QWR EAMs. The accuracy of this relationship is verified by comparing with numerical data. The effects of the variation of different device parameters on the absorption spectra are investigated. The absorption peaks are found to be stronger in narrower QWRs with strain-compensating barriers. Comparison of the extinction ratio with that of similar quantum-well EAMs show that, in spite of the lower in-plane filling factor, QWR EAMs exhibit a higher extinction ratio. Effect of fluctuation of wire width on the absorption spectrum of QWRs has been studied. The proposed QWR EAMs are suitable for photonic integrated circuits (PICs) fabricated by electron-beam lithography, reactive-ion etching, and two-step epitaxial growth. Due to the nature of the integration in such structures, the QWR EAMs are not required to be polarization-insensitive. On the contrary, the QWR EAMs are naturally tuned to the polarization of the output of the CS QWR lasers, fabricated on the same PIC, leading to an enhancement of the absorption strength. Moreover, the QWR EAMs, integrated with QWR lasers, offer low insertion loss.  相似文献
