Folate functionalized nanoparticles (NPs) that contain fluorogens with aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) characteristics are fabricated to show bright far‐red/near‐infrared fluorescence, a large two‐photon absorption cross section and low cytotoxicity, which are internalized into MCF‐7 cancer cells mainly through caveolae‐mediated endocytosis. One‐photon excited in vivo fluorescence imaging illustrates that these AIE NPs can accumulate in a tumor and two‐photon excited ex vivo tumor tissue imaging reveals that they can be easily detected in the tumor mass at a depth of 400 μm. These studies indicate that AIE NPs are promising alternatives to conventional TPA probes for biological imaging. 相似文献

Herein is reported the synthesis of gadolinium ion (Gd(III))‐chelated hyperbranched conjugated polyelectrolyte (HCPE‐Gd) and its application in fluorescence and magnetic resonance (MR) dual imaging in live animals. The synthesized HCPE‐Gd forms nanospheres with an average diameter of ~42 nm measured by laser light scattering and a quantum yield of 10% in aqueous solution. The absorption spectrum of HCPE‐Gd has two maxima at 318 and 417 nm, and its photoluminescence maximum centers at 591 nm. Confocal laser scanning microscopy studies indicate that the HCPE‐Gd is internalized in MCF‐7 cancer cell cytoplasm with good photostability and low cytotoxicity. Further fluorescence and MR imaging studies on hepatoma H22 tumor‐bearing mouse model reveal that HCPE‐Gd can serve as an efficient optical/MR dual‐modal imaging nanoprobe for in vivo cancer diagnosis. 相似文献

Based on a multiscale model for fabric materials, dynamic simulations of the fabric ballistic performance were implemented. Through parameter research, it was found that the ballistic performance and mechanical behavior of the fabric materials are determined by a combination of factors and conditions rather than by the material properties alone. The material mechanical properties reflect the inherent strength of the fabric; the fabric weaving structure, boundary conditions, material orientation, and projectile shape also play important roles and have a significant influence on the ballistic performance of the fabric. The multiscale material model incorporates not only the membrane‐like properties of the fabric but also the underlying weaving structure, yarn interaction, and yarn composition. The simulations results show good agreement with the experimental data. Various physical phenomena can be observed in the simulations, such as yarn decrimping, material anisotropy, and two types of damage modes. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

Brown tumors (BTs) are relatively uncommon but they are serious complications of renal osteodystrophy. The objective of this study was to analyze the clinical, biological, and radiological characteristics of 16 patients with BTs provoked by secondary hyperparathyroidism (sHPT) and its response to the decrease in parathyroid hormone levels after parathyroidectomy (PTX). The management of that uncommon condition was also reviewed. We conducted a retrospective study including 16 end‐stage renal disease patients who underwent subtotal PTX between 1997 and 2007 for severe sHPT with BTs. Our study included 10 men and 6 women, whose average age was 34 years. All patients were on dialysis. Ten of them were on dialysis for more than 5 years. The median duration on dialysis was 84 months. Patients included suffered from swellings associated with functional limitations. BTs had multiple locations in 7 patients. Jaw was the most frequent location (62%). Radiography and tomodensitometry demonstrated a mixed radio lucent and radio‐opaque lesions with an expansion of the cortical bone. Bone scan demonstrated an increased uptake of lesions. Chirurgical treatment was indicated in all cases because of severe refractory sHPT with functional limitations and/or disfiguring deformities. In all cases, BTs stopped its progression and even decreased in size. However, it was insufficient in four cases, which required a surgical resection. PTX remains an efficacious approach in resistant cases of sHPT with persistent BTs. 相似文献

Changes in reef benthos were assessed at Aldabra Atoll following the mass coral bleaching event of 1998. Video transects were used to survey the benthos and analysed using the Australian Institute of Marine Science five-dot method. Comparison of coral cover data collected by the Cambridge Southern Seychelles Atoll Research Programme with data collected during this study revealed that mortality of coral at Aldabra following the bleaching event was approximately 66% at 10 m depth and 38% at 20 m depth. Five years on, there are signs of hard coral recovery at some locations, but in spite of several years of high coral recruitment (7-9 recruits per m2 at 10 m depth, 4-6 recruits per m2 at 20 m depth, where recruits are defined as any colony under 5 cm maximum diameter), recovery of hard coral has not occurred at a significant level. There has been a considerable increase in soft coral cover at some locations, which was dominated by the genus Rhytisma. Macro algal cover did not increase following the bleaching event, although, as would be expected, dead corals have been colonized by coralline algae. Two hundred twenty-eight patients with successful coronary stent implantation were randomized either to protamine administration and femoral sheath removal (group I, n = 117) or no heparin neutralization and delayed sheath removal (group II, n = 111).
