Rubber pad forming is studied numerically and experimentally to fabricate interconnectors for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) from thin Crofer sheets instead of classical thick ones with machined flow channels. In the theoretical program, the effects of the rib angle, rib width and channel depth on the formability are numerically investigated and optimized as 120°, 0.5 mm and 0.5 mm, respectively. In addition, flow simulations are performed to analyze the flow uniformity in the flow-field for the final geometry and homogenous reactant distributions are observed. In the experimental program, the interconnector with numerically optimized geometry is successfully manufactured by rubber pad forming, trimming, piercing and spot welding processes. This interconnector is used to build a two-cell stack. A similar stack is also constructed with a conventional interconnector for comparison. The performances of these stacks are measured at different operating temperatures. According to the simulation and experimental results, rubber pad forming is found to be a highly effective manufacturing route to fabricate SOFC interconnectors from thin Crofer sheets, providing higher specific and volumetric power density values for SOFC stacks compared to those of conventional stacks with interconnectors having machined flow channels. 相似文献

In this study, the causal relations between inward foreign direct investment (FDI)-energy use per capita and inward FDI-CO2 emission per capita were analyzed and the inconsistency between the causal relations was investigated via bootstrap-corrected panel causality test and cross-correlation analysis. In this direction, data from 76 countries including the period of 1980–2009 was processed. No supportive evidence was found for changing causal relations to country group which was classified into income level. The findings indicated that while the pollution haven hypothesis was supported for Mozambique, United Arab Emirates and Oman, the pollution halo hypothesis was supported in the case of India, Iceland, Panama and Zambia. For other countries, energy use and CO2 emission were neutral to inward FDI flows in aggregated level. Furthermore, this study urged that increased (decreased) energy use due to the inward FDI flows did not necessarily mean an increase (decrease) in pollution level, and vice versa. The installation of photovoltaic panels (PVs) on the roof of residential and commercial buildings is getting widespread as these areas stand normally idle and can be used for another purpose without losing an inhabited space. Considering the solar potential of Turkey, a significant amount of electricity generation is possible using current PV technology. For this reason, a two-story detached school building located in ?zmir, Turkey was taken into consideration and monthly as well as annual coverage ratio of an on-grid PV system for its entire energy requirement (including heating, cooling and lighting) was investigated. The PVs were installed on the south face of the school building roof. A heat pump, with a typical coefficient of performance (COP) value of 2.5, was used for supplying required cooling and heating. The heating, cooling and lighting loads were determined on a monthly basis. The average monthly electrical energy generation of the mounted PVs was calculated using a written code in Energy Equation Solver (EES) software. As a result, the monthly as well as yearly electrical energy demand coverage ratio values for the school using the installed PVs were revealed. Since the school building has a large south faced roof, the installation of PVs is very suitable to meet the cumulative electrical energy need of the heat pump and the lighting load. For Case 1, 180 PVs, which supply the entire yearly demand (with a 110% coverage ratio), were taken into consideration, while for Case 2, 265 PVs, which cover 75% of the roof area, were evaluated. The results showed that between November and March, PV electrical energy generation is not sufficient to meet all energy need of the school for both cases. However, significant coverage ratio values were observed for the rest of the year. In a yearly basis, the PV generation exceeded the building demand by 62% for the Case 2. This conclusion points out that the school can meet its yearly electricity need with the considered PV system and can even have an additional financial profit by selling its surplus PV electricity to the grid. Economic and environmental payback time values as well as simple payback time value were also computed for both investigated cases. The results pointed out a simple payback time of 7.9 years for Case 1 and 7.6 years for Case 2. Energy payback time was determined as 5 years for both systems. The antioxidant capacity of wine depends not only on the grape variety but also on the wine processing steps. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of different fining agents, used at different concentrations, on the antioxidant status of fined wines. The results demonstrated that the use of a combination of gelatin and Kieselsol led to the highest total phenol value (3,491 mg/L GAE) and antioxidant activities (29%) among the tested fining agents. Wines were mostly negatively affected by the use of egg white as an agent and led to the lowest value of total phenol (3,038 mg/L GAE) and the lowest rate of antioxidant activity (26%). Significant differences (p<0.05) were determined between gelatin, egg white, and the control groups. The results of the grouping of analyzed parameters in n‐dimensional space, with different fining agents at different concentrations, demonstrated the importance of a low concentration of fining agents for high antioxidant activity and total phenols. 相似文献

We have studied the influence of the spacer alkyl chain length of perylenemonoimide (PMI) dyes on the device performance in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). We observed that the dyes with longer and brunched alkyl chains exhibit higher efficiencies in DSSCs. In line with these statements we now report the highest efficiency obtained under standard conditions for a perylene imide derivative with PMI-DA1 that performs 300 mV open circuit voltage, 9.79 mA/cm2 short-circuit current and 1.61% overall conversion efficiency. 相似文献

Nowadays, with the increase in the amount of power generation related to renewable energy resources, the need for energy storage and management is raised. In this regard, the hydrogen energy plays a critical role in the development of renewable technologies. In view of the above, advanced controller design is presented in this paper to effectively perform load frequency control of islanded fuel cell microgrid based on the wind turbine, photovoltaic, fuel cell, electrolyzer, battery energy storage systems, and residential and commercial loads. The controller design is based on the determination of the controller parameters that the fuel cell microgrid system will provide the desired dynamic properties. In the proposed controller design, virtual gain and phase margin testers are added to provide the desired dynamic properties. The controller's stable parameter plane is determined with the help of the stability boundary locus method, taking into account time delay, gain, and phase margin. First, the accuracy of the stable parameter plane determined for the proposed controller design is demonstrated by means of time domain and eigenvalue analyzes. Finally, in order to show the performance of the advanced controller design and the success of the fuel cell as a backup generator, analysis studies have been carried out using actual data of solar and wind, and appropriate changes of load in studied microgrid. 相似文献

External magnetic fields affect various electrochemical processes and can be used to enhance the efficiency of the electrochemical water splitting reaction. However, the driving forces behind this effect are poorly understood due to the analytical challenges of the available interface-sensitive techniques. Here, we present a set-up based on magneto- and electro-optical probing, which allows to juxtapose the magnetic properties of the electrode with the electrochemical current densities in situ at various applied potentials and magnetic fields. On the example of an archetypal hydrogen evolution catalyst, Pt (in a form of Co/Pt superlattice), we provide evidence that a magnetic field acts on the electrochemical double layer affecting the local concentration gradient of hydroxide ions, which simultaneously affects the magneto-optical and magnetocurrent response. 相似文献

A new computational method based on the J k -integral is put forward for the purpose of conducting fracture analysis of orthotropic materials subjected to hygrothermal stresses. By utilizing the constitutive relations of plane orthotropic hygrothermoelasticity, an alternative expression for the J k -integral is derived to replace the general limit definition. A numerical procedure is developed and integrated into a finite element analysis software to implement the proposed form of the J k -integral. Temperature and specific moisture concentration fields, which are required in fracture calculations, are also computed through finite element analysis. Numerical results are generated by considering an embedded crack in a polymer matrix fibrous composite laminate, that is subjected to steady-state hygrothermal loading. Comparisons of the mixed-mode stress intensity factors computed by the J k -integral based method to those evaluated via the displacement correlation technique demonstrate that, the proposed form of the J k -integral is domain independent and leads to numerical results of high accuracy. Presented parametric analyses illustrate the influences of the fiber volume fraction and the crack location on the modes I and II stress intensity factors, the energy release rate, and the T-stress. 相似文献

The paper investigates the causality relationships among industrial production index, coal consumption and employment in industrial sector for the period of 1973:1–2011:10 in USA. After noticing that there are breaks in the regression model, the Hatemi-J test for cointegration is employed to the cases that take into account two possible regime shifts. It is concluded that there is a long run relationship between industrial production and industrial coal consumption with the breaks at 1983:4 and 1998:4. We found a negative relationship between coal consumption and industrial production for the period of 1973:1–1983:4 and positive relationship for 1983:5–1998:4 period. For the last period that covers 1983:5–2011:10, the cointegration relationship turned to negative. In addition, the results show that causal relationship between coal consumption and industrial production changes over time. 相似文献

The water gas shift activity of promoted Pt–CeO2/Al2O3 catalysts were investigated in this work. The catalysts were prepared by incipient to wetness impregnation and tested using a microflow reaction system. It was found that K has beneficial effects under product-containing feed compositions while Co and Ni promoters worsen catalyst performance. The reaction temperature and feed H2O/CO ratio positively affect the catalytic activity, whereas CO2 and H2 addition to the feed decreases CO conversion, as expected. The experimental results were also modeled using modular neural networks, at which the catalyst preparation and operational (reaction) variables were used together in the same network because they are interacting but processed differently because they are dissimilar in their form (i.e. categorical versus continuous) and their effects on catalytic activity. It was concluded that the effects of catalyst preparation and operational variables and their relative importance could be comprehended more accurately by using this approach, which may be also employed in other similar systems. 相似文献
