1. An improved purification was developed for L-lactate oxidase from Mycobacterium smegmatis. 2. The mol.wt. of the native enzyme by a sedimentation-equilibrium analysis was 345 000, and other ultracentrifuge methods gave values in the range 345 000-350 000. 3. An amino acid analysis, determinations of protein and flavin, a sedimentation-velocity analysis and an approach to equilibrium analysis gave values for the subunit mol.wt. in the range 43 500-47 000. 4. It was concluded that L-lactate oxidase contains eight subunits of mol.wt. 43 500. 5. Cross-linking of the subunits with dimethyl suberimidate and electron-microscopy studies were consistent with an octameric structure.  相似文献

The International Focusing Optics Collaboration for microCrab Sensitivity (InFOCmicroS) balloonborne hard x-ray telescope incorporates graded Pt/C multilayers replicated onto segmented Al foils to obtain the significant effective area at energies previously inaccessible to x-ray optics. Reflectivity measurements of individual foils demonstrate our capability to produce a mass quantity of multilayered foils with a rms roughness of 0.5 nm. The effective area of the completed mirror is 78 and 22 cm2 at 20 and 40 keV, respectively. The measured half-power diameter is 2.0 +/- 0.6 are min (90% confidence). The successful completion of this mirror demonstrates its applicability to future x-ray telescopes such as Constellation-X.  相似文献

This paper describes the electrical, mechanical and metallurgical design, construction, and testing of a novel low-cost high-speed high-efficiency induction motor to drive a new type of small centrifugal compressor in industrial cooling applications. The 28-shaft-hp 50-kr/min motor features a unique laminated rotor with a multifunction high-strength copper-alloy cage brazed with a novel process. Relatively thin high-silicon steel laminations were used to achieve low losses and high mechanical strength at low cost, Different heat treatments for the stator and rotor laminations were used to optimize the mechanical and magnetic properties, The preprototype motors achieved about 94% (electromagnetic) efficiency at the rated point, including inverter harmonics, while meeting cost (less than one-tenth of aerospace practice) and produceability goals  相似文献

This work numerically in vestigates confined impinging turbulent slot jets. Eight turbulence models, including one standard and seven low-Reynolds-number k-epsilon models, are employed and tested to predict the heat transfer performance of multiple impinging jets. Validation results indicate that the prediction by each turbulence model depends on grid distribution and numerical scheme used in spatial discretization. In addition, spent fluid exits are set between impinging jets to reduce the cross-flow effect in degradation of the heat transfer of downstream impinging jets. The overall heat transfer performance can be enhanced by proper spent fluid removal.  相似文献

Antinociception can be produced at the spinal level by activation of opioidergic, noradrenergic, and serotonergic systems. We tested the antinociceptive effects of combined activation of all three systems. Antinociception was assessed in the rat tail-flick test, and drugs were administered via an intrathecal catheter. Morphine, the norepinephrine uptake inhibitor desipramine, and serotonin produced antinociception of their own. The combination of subthreshold doses of morphine 1 microg and of desipramine 3 microg produced pronounced antinociception that was antagonized by yohimbine. The combination of subthreshold morphine with serotonin 50 microg or desipramine with serotonin caused only small antinociceptive effects. When morphine combined with desipramine was decreased to a subthreshold dose, we observed pronounced antinociception when a subthreshold dose of serotonin was added. A complex interaction can be supposed by results obtained with antagonists. The activation of all three neurotransmitter systems with small doses of agonists may represent an effective principle for pain control at the spinal level. IMPLICATIONS: Pain sensations are modulated at the spinal level by opioids, noradrenergic drugs, and serotonin. Using a rat model, we showed that the concurrent use of drugs from each of these classes produces good pain control at doses that should avoid the side effects associated with larger doses of each individual drug.  相似文献

We consider queuing systems with two types of customers. For such systems, we develop numerical procedures for computation of optimal dynamic priorities in the case of multiplicative priority functions. The optimality criterion is based on the total queue length for customers of both types. Our technique allows one to take into account waiting-time bounds. The optimization problem is formulated in the language of linear-fractional programming. To illustrate our technique, we present some numerical results at the end of the paper.  相似文献

To identify the language origin of a named entity, morphological information associated with its letter spelling, such as letter N-grams, is commonly employed. However, with this information only, named entities with similar spellings but from different language origins are difficult to differentiate. In this paper, a measure of "popularity," in terms of frequency or page count of the named entity in language-specific Web search, is proposed for identifying its language origin. Morphological information, including letter or letter-chunk N-grams, is used to enhance the performance of language identification in conjunction with Web-based page counts. Six languages, including English, German, French, Portuguese, Chinese, and Japanese (Chinese and Japanese named entities are shown in their corresponding phonetic alphabets, i.e., Pinyin and Romaji), are tested. Experiments show that when classifying four Latin languages, including English, German, French, and Portuguese, which are written in Latin alphabets, features from different information sources yield substantial performance improvements in the classification accuracy over a letter 4-gram-based baseline system. The accuracy increases from 75.0% to 86.3%, or a 45.2% relative error reduction.  相似文献
