Poly(ether ester) (PEE) copolymers were synthesized in a two‐stage process involving transesterification and polycondensation. The synthesized copolymer and the zinc oxide (ZnO) were used in composite preparation by melt compounding. The influence of ZnO type and concentration on the morphology, thermal and mechanical properties of the composites were studied. DSC and XRD analyses indicated that crystallinity of composites was slightly reduced with ZnO content. Homogeneous dispersion of fillers in the polymer matrix was observed through morphological analyses. While in general tensile strength and elongation at break values of the composites decreased with increasing ZnO content, elastic modulus values increased with the addition of ZnO. Moreover, ZnO particles were modified with poly(N‐vinyl pyrrolidone) and a slight improvement in mechanical properties was observed, respectively over the composites containing unmodified particles. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, optimal angle‐ply orientation of symmetric composite cylinders under fatigue loading is investigated. The fiber‐reinforced plastic cylinders were manufactured from E‐glass/epoxy. The layers were manufactured symmetrically in [±75°]2, [±60°]2, [±55°]2, and [±45°]2 orientations. Burst pressure of filament‐wound composite cylinders under alternating pure internal pressure was measured experimentally. Internal fatigue pressure testing method was applied to the composite cylinders in close‐ended condition. For this study, a PLC controlled hydraulic pressure testing machine has been employed. The static burst pressure values of specimens were measured; subsequently, fatigue test pressure was applied in 70, 60, and 50% stress levels of burst pressure for each orientation. Damage propagations of the composite cylinders on these stress levels were observed as whitening, leakage, and final failure for [±60°]2, [±55°]2, and orientations. When the damage propagation of [±75°]2 angle‐ply cylinder was observed, whitening and leakage did not occur and final failure occurred suddenly. Stress‐cycle curves obtained from the tests are given in graphics. Experimental results reveal that variation in stress levels and the winding angles have considerable effects on final failure cycles, which is also presented graphically. The optimum winding angle for the composite pressure cylinders or vessels under internal fatigue pressure load was obtained as [±45°]2 orientation. POLYM. Gain control elements are widely used in communication systems both to limit the incident power to the circuitry and to control the amplitude of the transmitted signal. Attenuators are one way of controlling the signal amplitude. The distortion performance of common CMOS attenuator topologies is investigated in this work. CMOS device equations that model the device in different regions of operation and which also model short channel effects are used for calculating distortion performance. Calculated distortion is compared with simulation results and experimental data, and qualitative explanations of the distortion curves as well as the deviation between different sources of data are given. The effects of varying finish rolling temperature (FRT) and cooling rate on the mechanical properties of hot rolled plates
of an experimental low-alloy Ti-V steel were studied. Fracture toughness was evaluated for various types of specimens at slow
and high deformation rates. However, the transition temperatures determined by the various tests do not always correlate.
Therefore, it is recommended that fracture toughness be evaluated by both static and dynamic testing. Following a low cooling
rate, the best plate properties are obtained at the lowest FRT in the austenite-ferrite range, although occurrence of delaminations
at this temperature may be detrimental for specific applications. Higher cooling rates produce higher strength but lower toughness

A new method called the straight notched disk bending method is developed for mode I fracture toughness determination using rock cores. Disk specimens of andesite and marble having a single straight edge notch were subjected to three-point bending loads. Dimensionless stress intensity factor estimations and fracture toughness tests were conducted for different notch lengths, span lengths, thicknesses and diameters of the cylindrical rock specimens. Stress intensity factors were computed by three-dimensional finite element modeling and the results were presented for a wide range of specimen geometrical parameters. Results of experiments were compared to the results of well-known mode I fracture toughness testing methods. For specimens having thickness equal to the radius, mode I fracture toughness was lower and close to the results obtained by semi-circular bending method. When thickness was increased and doubled, mode I fracture toughness increased and approached to the value found by the suggested cracked chevron notched Brazilian disk method. Advantages of the new method included easy specimen preparation and testing procedure, stiffer specimen geometry, smaller fracture process zone, and flexibility of the specimen geometry for the investigation of the size effect behavior. 相似文献

A numerical investigation has been performed two-dimensional slot impingement onto two heated cylinders with different diameters turbulent flow conditions. Height of slot jet is taken as constant for all cases. The study is performed to see the effects of effective parameters on heat and fluid flow as jet Reynolds number (11,000 ≤ Re ≤ 20,000), diameter ratio of cylinders (0.5 ≤ D1/D2 ≤ 1.5) and ratio of distance between cylinders to slot jet high (L/S). Streamlines, isotherms, local and mean Nusselt numbers and Cd coefficient were obtained. These results were compared with earlier experimental and numerical works and good agreement was obtained. The possibility of using neural networks for modelling instrumental-sensory relationships is investigated. The advantages and disadvantages of using artificial neural networks (ANNs) are considered and compared with those of the multivariate linear methods of principal components regression (PCR) and partial least squares regression (PLS). In particular the problem of modelling nonlinear relationships is considered. The effects of iron and nickel on hydrogen (H2) production were investigated in a glucose-fed anaerobic Continuous Flow Stirred Tank Reactor (ACSTR). Both iron and nickel improved the reactor performance and H2 production was enhanced by 71% with the sole iron or nickel supplementation. In all cases, H2 production yield was increased by lowering both ethanol and total metabolites production and increasing butyrate production. Furthermore, iron and nickel slightly increased biomass production while glucose degradation decreased with the supplementation of nickel. Dynamic changes in bacterial composition as analyzed by 16S rRNA gene-targeted denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) revealed that hydrogen was produced mainly by Clostridium butyricum strains and that nickel addition decreased the microbial diversity. 相似文献

Two different enriched mixed consortia from mesophilic sources were used for H2 production from glucose at 60 °C. The variables were initial pH, nitrogen source, iron and sulfate. pH had a crucial effect and iron was slightly positive for the biohydrogen production performance of the mixed culture. On the other hand, H2 production decreased with the increasing of ammonia, peptone and sulfate concentrations. Metabolic pathways of mixed culture were affected in different ways depending on the differences in microbial community. The PCR-DGGE and sequencing based microbial community analysis revealed that two enriched mixed cultures had different microbial diversity and both culture were dominated mainly by Thermoanaerobacterium species. 相似文献
