The aim of this study was to apply the PIXE (Particle Induced X-ray Emission) and PDMS (Plasma Desorption Mass Spectrometry) techniques to characterize airborne dust particles containing metals. Aerosols generated at a mineral-sand processing plant were characterized in this study. The aerosol samples were collected at a plant that processes mineral sands to obtain rutile, ilmenite, zircon, and monazite concentrates. A cascade impactor with six stages was used to collect mineral dust particles with aerodynamic diameters in the range of 0.64 to 19.4 mum. The particles impacted on each stage of the cascade impactor were analyzed by PIXE, which permits the determination of the elemental mass air concentration and the MMAD (Mass Median Aerodynamic Diameter). The chemical compositions of the aerosol samples were identified by PDMS analysis. This study shows that, by using PIXE and PDMS techniques, it is possible to determine the chemical compounds in which the elements are associated in the aerosol particles. Based on the results of the PIXE analysis, the elemental mass concentrations and the MMADs were determined.  相似文献

This study was carried out to determine the chemical composition, cholesterol contents and fatty acids profile of Brazilian commercial chicken giblets. The analysis were performed in gizzard, liver and heart in natura and also in cooked gizzard, fried liver and roasted heart. Fat and cholesterol contents ranged from 0.88% and 72.68 mg/100 g, in cooked gizzard, to 22.19% and 213.18 mg/100 g, in roasted heart. As the fat content gets higher, so does the cholesterol content. Palmitic (C16:0) and stearic acids (C18:0) were the predominant saturated fatty acids (SFA). The C16:0 ranged from 6.39% in cooked gizzard to 18.51% in fried liver. The C18:0 level ranged from 6.62% in roasted heart to 19.19% in cooked gizzard. Linoleic acid (C18:2 omega 6) was the predominant polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA). The data revealed that the three different analysed giblets presented a good PUFA/SFA ratio, with values of 1.11, 1.14 and 1.40 for cooked gizzard, fried liver and roasted heart, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new algorithm, named Grid-based Distributed Max-Miner (GridDMM), for mining maximal frequent itemsets from databases on a Data Grid. A frequent itemset is maximal if none of its supersets is frequent. GridDMM is specifically suitable for use in Grid environments due to low communication and synchronization overhead. GridDMM consists of a local mining phase and a global mining phase. During the local mining phase, each node mines the local database to discover the local maximal frequent itemsets, then they form a set of maximal candidate itemsets for the top-down search in the subsequent global mining phase. A new prefix-tree data structure is developed to facilitate the storage and counting of the global candidate itemsets of different sizes. We built a Data Grid system on a cluster of workstations using the open-source Globus Toolkit, and evaluated the GridDMM algorithm in terms of performance, scalability, and the overhead of communication and synchronization. GridDMM demonstrates better performance than other sequential and parallel algorithms, and its performance is scalable in terms of the database size and the number of nodes. Space–time (ST) coding is a proved technique for achieving high data rates in 3G mobile systems that combines coding, modulation and multiple transmitters and receivers. A novel algorithm is proposed for ST ring trellis‐coded modulation (ST‐RTCM) systems with continuous‐phase modulation (CPM) when the channel coefficients are known to the receiver. This algorithm is based on the CPM decomposed model, which exploits the memory properties of this modulation method, resulting in a straightforward implementation of joint ST coding and CPM, which is particularly suitable for ring codes. This new scheme is used to investigate the performance of the delay diversity code with CPM over slow Rayleigh fading channels, in particular with MSK which is one of the most widely used modulation methods of continuous phase. Furthermore, a feedback version of delay diversity allowed by the decomposition is tested in 1REC and 1RC systems. This feedback configuration is seen to provide good results for low signal‐to‐noise ratios. Simulations results are also provided for multilevel ST‐RTCM codes that achieve a higher throughput than MSK‐coded systems. Additionally the serial concatenation of an outer Reed–Solomon code with an ST‐RTCM code is shown, this combination further reduces the error probability and achieves even more reliable communications. This paper describes the derivation of dynamical models for mobile robots using system-identification methods and shows how such models can be used in the control of autonomous devices. Unlike traditional approaches that are based on the system physics alone, in this paper, an autoregressive model structure is derived from the physics of the process, and its parameters are estimated using real input and output data. From the resulting model, efficient control can be obtained for centralized and remotely controlled robots (typically externally observed) with little or no local "intelligence," thus overcoming many of the severe shortcomings presented by such systems. System dead time is one example of a serious problem that can be efficaciously minimized by using the model as an online predictor. Several experimental results using small differential-driven robots are included to demonstrate the applicability and robustness of the suggested procedure in actual real-world scenarios.  相似文献

A problem of coordinated control for two networked vehicles is presented, formulated, and solved to illustrate a set-valued framework for the coordinated control of networked vehicles. First, an informal user specification for the coordinated operation of two vehicles is introduced. Second, a formal representation of the objects and relations of interest is presented, and the user requirements are mapped onto a formal specification. Third, the specification is transformed onto a control problem formulation. Finally, the problem is solved using techniques from dynamic optimization and generalizations of the problem are discussed. We present a logic programming based asynchronous multi-agent system in which agents can communicate with one another; update themselves and each other; abduce hypotheses to explain observations, and use them to generate actions. The knowledge base of the agents is comprised of generalized logic programs, integrity constraints, active rules, and of abducibles. We characterize the interaction among agents via an asynchronous transition rule system, and provide a stable models based semantics. Seventy-eight Holsteins were fed for 112 d to evaluate performance and health responses to diets varying in source and concentration of fiber. Three diets based on different carbohydrate feeding strategies were formulated. These diets contained low concentrations of forage and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) (12.6% forage NDF, 19.5% total NDF), adequate NDF and forage (20% forage NDF, 24.8% total NDF), or low forage with additional NDF from cereal byproducts (12.7% forage NDF, 33.4% total NDF). Responses to sodium bicarbonate supplementation (0 or 0.8% of diet DM) were evaluated for each carbohydrate strategy, and bicarbonate improved performance on all diets. Eight cows were used concurrently in a Latin square experiment to evaluate the linearity of milk fat concentration response to increasing concentrations of byproduct NDF in low-forage diets. Considering both trials, cereal byproduct NDF was only 27% as effective as NDF from alfalfa silage in eliciting a milk fat concentration response, which was less than predicted from previous experiments. This difference was not because of the short duration of previous experiments nor because of nonlinearity in the response to byproduct NDF. Low-forage diets fed for 112 d did not result in major health disorders for midlactation cows. However, several indicators suggested that cows fed low-forage, high-NDF diets might be less susceptible to ruminal acidosis than those fed diets containing low forage and low NDF, especially during times of dietary transition. Although the effective fiber value in various feeds is variable and difficult to quantify, the value of byproduct fiber needs to be considered when balancing the carbohydrate fraction of dairy rations.  相似文献

We measured the vapour pressure of several DNA and RNA bases—uracil, adenine, guanine, thymine and cytosine—in the 300–450 K range. In each case the sample mass loss rate was measured as function of temperature with a simple setup consisting of a commercial film deposition system and a homemade oven. Afterwards vapour pressure values were extracted from these data using the Knudsen effusion method. Sublimation enthalpy values, obtained from vapour pressure data by applying the Clausius–Clapeyron equation, are in very good agreement with literature values. The results suggest that crystal-based film thickness monitors may be useful in on-line cross-section measurements, monitoring the gas target thickness. They also show the viability of using this oven for producing a biomolecular gas target.  相似文献
