As the dependence on mobile devices increases, the need for supporting a wider range of users and devices becomes crucial. Elders and people with disabilities adopt new technologies reluctantly, a tendency caused by the lack of adaptation of these technologies to their needs. To address this challenge, this paper describes a framework, Imhotep, whose aim is to aid developers in the accessible application creation process, making the creation of user-centered applications easier and faster. Our framework allows to easily adapt the applications to the constraints imposed by the user capabilities (sensorial, cognitive, and physical capabilities) and device capabilities by providing a repository that will manage the compilation and deployment of applications that include a set of preprocessor directives in the source code. These directives are enhanced with concepts that are automatically adjusted to the current trends of mobile devices by using a Fuzzy Knowledge-Eliciting Reasoner. Our final goal is to increase the number of applications targeted to elders and people with disabilities providing tools that facilitate their development. The paper also describes the evaluation of both the accuracy of the fuzzy terms generated for mobile devices and the usability of the proposed platform.  相似文献

How do we build algorithms for agent interactions with human adversaries? Stackelberg games are natural models for many important applications that involve human interaction, such as oligopolistic markets and security domains. In Stackelberg games, one player, the leader, commits to a strategy and the follower makes her decision with knowledge of the leader's commitment. Existing algorithms for Stackelberg games efficiently find optimal solutions (leader strategy), but they critically assume that the follower plays optimally. Unfortunately, in many applications, agents face human followers (adversaries) who — because of their bounded rationality and limited observation of the leader strategy — may deviate from their expected optimal response. In other words, human adversaries' decisions are biased due to their bounded rationality and limited observations. Not taking into account these likely deviations when dealing with human adversaries may cause an unacceptable degradation in the leader's reward, particularly in security applications where these algorithms have seen deployment. The objective of this paper therefore is to investigate how to build algorithms for agent interactions with human adversaries.To address this crucial problem, this paper introduces a new mixed-integer linear program (MILP) for Stackelberg games to consider human adversaries, incorporating: (i) novel anchoring theories on human perception of probability distributions and (ii) robustness approaches for MILPs to address human imprecision. Since this new approach considers human adversaries, traditional proofs of correctness or optimality are insufficient; instead, it is necessary to rely on empirical validation. To that end, this paper considers four settings based on real deployed security systems at Los Angeles International Airport (Pita et al., 2008 [35]), and compares 6 different approaches (three based on our new approach and three previous approaches), in 4 different observability conditions, involving 218 human subjects playing 2960 games in total. The final conclusion is that a model which incorporates both the ideas of robustness and anchoring achieves statistically significant higher rewards and also maintains equivalent or faster solution speeds compared to existing approaches.  相似文献

Fusion of laser and vision in object detection has been accomplished by two main approaches: (1) independent integration of sensor-driven features or sensor-driven classifiers, or (2) a region of interest (ROI) is found by laser segmentation and an image classifier is used to name the projected ROI. Here, we propose a novel fusion approach based on semantic information, and embodied on many levels. Sensor fusion is based on spatial relationship of parts-based classifiers, being performed via a Markov logic network. The proposed system deals with partial segments, it is able to recover depth information even if the laser fails, and the integration is modeled through contextual information—characteristics not found on previous approaches. Experiments in pedestrian detection demonstrate the effectiveness of our method over data sets gathered in urban scenarios.  相似文献

Herbaceous aquatic macrophytes cover extensive areas on the floodplains of the Amazon basin and are an important habitat and input of organic carbon. These communities have large intra- and inter-annual variability, and characterization of this variability is necessary to quantify the role of macrophytes in the ecology and biogeochemistry of the floodplain. A novel approach for mapping the temporal evolution of aquatic vegetation in the Amazon floodplain, which could be adapted to other spatially and temporally changing environments, is presented. Macrophyte cover varied seasonally and inter-annually, ranging between 104 and 198 km2 for the floodplain examined (total area, 984 km2). The observed evolution of plant distribution indicated a spatial and temporal partition of macrophyte communities into short-lived and annual groups. A simulation of macrophyte net primary production (NPP) based on the mapping results indicated that at least 3% of NPP could be attributed to the short-lived communities. The present results suggest that significant changes in the macrophyte's contribution to carbon cycling in the Amazon floodplain could occur as a result of the predicted increase in frequency of drought years for the Amazon system due to climate change.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional to cope with stability analysis and control design for time‐delay nonlinear systems modeled in the Takagi–Sugeno (TS) fuzzy form. The delay‐dependent conditions are formulated as linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), solvable through several numerical tools. By using the Gu's discretization technique and by employing an appropriated fuzzy functional, less conservative conditions are obtained. This article focusses on the fusion of information from various automotive sensors like radar, video, and lidar for enhanced safety and traffic efficiency. Fusion is not restricted to data from sensors onboard the same vehicle but vehicular communication systems allow to propagate and fuse information with sensor data from other vehicles or from the road infrastructure as well. This enables vehicles to perceive information from regions that are hardly accessible otherwise and represents the basis for cooperative driving maneuvers. While the Bayesian framework builds the basis for information fusion, automobile environments are characterized by their a priori unknown topology, i.e., the number, type, and structure of the perceived objects is highly variable. Multi-object detection and tracking methods are a first step to cope with this challenge. Obviously, the existence or non-existence of an object is of paramount importance for safe driving. Such decisions are highly influenced by the association step that assigns sensor measurements to object tracks. Methods that involve multiple sequences of binary assignments are compared with soft-assignment strategies. Finally, fusion based on finite set statistics that (theoretically) avoid an explicit association are discussed.  相似文献

Guidelines for managing the mixture formation process in a high-performance four-stroke Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine for two-wheel applications are discussed, as derived from a multidimensional modelling of the in-cylinder processes. Gasoline adduction from a multi-hole injector is simulated by resorting to a properly developed model that accounts for the dependence of the initial droplets size distribution upon injection pressure. The model portability is preliminary demonstrated by comparison with experimental measurements carried out on sprays entering a confined vessel at controlled conditions.The simulation of different engine operating conditions highlights the capability to work under the so-called “mixed mode” boosting with spray guided mixture formation.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of position and attitude estimation, based on landmark readings and velocity measurements. A derivation of a nonlinear observer on SE(3) is presented, using a Lyapunov function conveniently expressed as a function of the difference between the estimated and the measured landmark coordinates. The resulting feedback laws are explicit functions of the landmark measurements and velocity readings, exploiting the sensor information directly in the observer. The proposed observer yields almost global asymptotic stabilization of the position and attitude errors and exponential convergence in any closed ball inside the region of attraction. Also, it is shown that the asymptotic convergence of the estimation error trajectories is shaped by the landmark geometry and observer design parameters. The problem of non-ideal velocity readings is also considered, and the observer is augmented to compensate for bias in the angular and linear velocity measurements. The resulting position, attitude, and bias estimation errors are shown to converge exponentially fast to the desired equilibrium points, for bounded initial estimation errors. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the stability and convergence properties of the observer.  相似文献

Over the last decade 3D face models have been extensively used in many applications such as face recognition, facial animation and facial expression analysis. 3D Morphable Models (MMs) have become a popular tool to build and fit 3D face models to images. Critical to the success of MMs is the ability to build a generic 3D face model. Major limitations in the MMs building process are: (1) collecting 3D data usually involves the use of expensive laser scans and complex capture setups, (2) the number of available 3D databases is limited, and typically there is a lack of expression variability and (3) finding correspondences and registering the 3D model is a labor intensive and error prone process.  相似文献

This paper focuses on a restrained concretization of the general NP-hard Container Loading Problem that arises from a real world application. This particular problem can be informally described as: given different sets of bins and boxes, find the packing of the boxes into the smallest number of bins obeying some additional restrictions on the placement. The mathematical programming formulation that appears to better model this application is the Three-dimensional Bin-Packing Problem (3D-BPP) which is no more than an extension of the classic Bin-Packing Problem to the orthogonal packing of solid objects.We present an alternative non-linear formulation for the 3D-BPP version as well as new designed heuristic algorithms (CPBOX and BOXCP) for the approximation of the optimal solution using boxes and bins of heterogeneous dimensions. Moreover, we also present a heuristic specifically designed to work under very particular storage application restrictions. The numerical results indicate that all of these new heuristics have good performance standards especially when applied to replications of real input data.  相似文献
