This paper studies the use of multicast together with proxy nodes for reliably disseminating data from a single source to a large number of receivers. In order to achieve reliability, data must be retransmitted in case of loss either by the source or by special network nodes, called proxies. Each proxy is responsible for reliably delivering the data to a subgroup it is assigned. The multicast tree is partitioned into subgroups that form a hierarchy rooted at the source, hence the term hierarchical reliable multicast. The performance of this approach strongly depends on the topology and the loss characteristics of the underlying tree and the location of proxies. In the first part of the paper, we study the processing and bandwidth performance of such a reliable multicast dissemination given the tree and the placement of proxies. In the second part of the paper, we develop dynamic programming algorithms that give a placement of a fixed number of proxies on an arbitrary tree that minimizes the bandwidth used for reliable transfer. The first algorithm provides an optimal solution to the multicast proxies location problem in polynomial time, in the number of nodes and proxies. The second is an approximation algorithm that gives a solution with cost within a chosen precision from the optimal, in an improved running time. An optimal and an approximate solution are also provided for the proxies location problem if unicast is used for transmissions. Applications of this dynamic programming approach to related problems are discussed.  相似文献

The effect of a yoghurt supplement containing Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum G4 or Bifidobacterium longum BB536 on plasma lipids, lipid peroxidation and the faecal excretion of bile acids was examined in rats fed a cholesterol-enriched diet. After 8 weeks, the rats in the positive control (PC) group who were fed the cholesterol-enriched diet showed significant increases in plasma total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, and malondialdehyde (MDA). However, groups fed a cholesterol-enriched diet supplemented with yoghurt containing B. pseudocatenulatum G4 or B. longum BB536 had significantly lower plasma TC, LDL-C, very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol, and MDA than had the PC group after 8 weeks of treatment. In addition, faecal excretion of bile acids was markedly increased in the rats fed the yoghurt containing B. pseudocatenulatum G4 or B. longum BB536 as compared to the PC and NC groups.  相似文献

Enzymic saccharification of wheat straw in the absence of any pretreatment was only about 20 %. Acid hydrolysis did not improve the overall cellulose enzymic breakdown, nor did pretreatment by flash autohydrolysis under pressure or sodium chlorite delignification. When wheat straw was treated with N-methyl-morpholine-N-oxide (MMNO) at J20°C for 20–30 min, this treatment and subsequent enzymic hydrolysis produced carbohydrate conversion of 73%. Similar results could be obtained by treating straw with 0·1 M sodium hydroxide. When MMNO treatment was combined with any other pretreatment, the saccharification yield was greatly enhanced. Nearly quantitative conversion was obtained by swelling straw in 0·1 M sodium hydroxide followed by MMNO treatment. The results show that lignin content of plant material does not represent the limiting factor to enzymic saccharification.  相似文献

In this study, experimental neutron-emission spectra produced by (n, xn) reactions on nuclei 232Th have been compared with experimental 238U(n, xn) neutron-emission spectra from 2 to 18 MeV. Angle-integrated cross-sections in neutron induced reactions on targets 238U have been calculated at the bombarding energies from 2 to 18 MeV. In the calculations, the geometry dependent hybrid model and the cascade exciton model including the effects of pre-equilibrium have been used. In addition, we have described how multiple pre-equilibrium emissions can be included in the Feshbach–Kerman-Koonin (FKK) fully quantum-mechanical theory. By analyzing (n, xn) reaction on 238U with the incident energy from 2 to 18 MeV, the importance of multiple pre-equilibrium emission can be seen clearly. All calculated results have been compared with experimental data. The obtained results have been discussed and compared with the available experimental data and found agreement with each other.  相似文献

Different polyurethanes (PU) were synthesized from polycaprolactone diol, 1.6-hexamethylene diisocyanate and bis(2-hydroxyethyl)terephthalate, using a two- and one-step methods providing regular and random distributions of starting monomers in the polyurethane chains. Even with an identical molar monomer composition, the properties of obtained PU are different depending on the method of synthesis. The chemical structure of PU was characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, as well as by FTIR and UV–Visible spectroscopy. The thermo-mechanical and hydrophilic properties of synthesized PU were also studied demonstrating the influence of aromatic ring in the macromolecular chain.  相似文献

Alpha-particle wire-plate corona counters in air can be operated either in the spark or in the corona-streamer modes. The streamer mode is preferred over the spark mode since it has the advantages of low dead time and the absence of electrode corrosion by sparking. An analysis of the alpha-particle corona-streamer counter is described. The alpha-particle triggered corona pulse characteristics (e.g., pulse shape, amplitude, repetition rate, etc.) are calculated. Not only the pulse characteristics but also the inception voltages of the corona-mode regime are determined. For each wire diameter, a transition gap length between corona and spark modes exists, which is termed ``critical gap length.' The counting rate characteristics have been obtained for wire diameters 0.05-0.1 mm. All the theoretical findings are confirmed by experiment.  相似文献

This article discusses the characteristics of turbulent gas–liquid flow through tubular reactors/contactors equipped with screen‐type static mixers from a macromixing perspective. The effect of changing the reactor configuration, and the operating conditions, were investigated by using four different screen geometries of varying mesh numbers. Residence time distribution experiments were conducted in the turbulent regime (4500 < Re < 29,000). Using a deconvolution technique, the RTD function was extracted to quantify the axial/longitudinal liquid‐phase dispersion coefficient. The findings highlight that axial dispersion increases with an increasing flow rate and/or gas‐phase volume fraction. However, regardless of the number and geometry of the mixing elements, reactor configuration, and/or operating conditions, the recorded liquid‐phase axial dispersion coefficients in the presence of screens was lower than that for an empty pipe. Cellulose acetate thin films doped with erbium (III) chloride (ErCl3) of different concentrations were prepared by the solution method. The prepared composite films were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis. IR spectral analysis, UV–visible absorption, a.c. conductivity, and dielectric properties were investigated. The studied ErCl3‐doped samples showed different properties from those of their pure components. SEM micrographs showed that for small dopant concentrations, samples tend to form conducting nanostructures with negligible particle agglomeration. DSC showed a monotonic development of the glass transition temperature by increasing the concentration of dopant material. Variation in the height, shape, and position of the bands in infrared transmission spectra, as well as the glass transition temperatures, indicated a complex interaction with the polymer molecular chains. Thermal stability and thermodynamic parameters were found to be concentration dependent. The electronic transitions’ band gabs and energy tails were calculated from the optical data. The dielectric studies showed that the correlated barrier hopping model was the dominant mechanism of a.c. conductivity. We found that samples with 10% and 20% ErCl3 exhibited high dielectric constants and have pronounced electrostriction and relaxor‐like properties. The problem of modeling and the dynamic finite element simulation of thermoforming process for viscoelastic sheet are considered. The pressure load used in modeling is thus deduced from the thermodynamic law of ideal gases. The viscoelastic behavior of the K‐BKZ model is considered. The Lagrangian formulation together with the assumption of the membrane theory is used in the finite element implementation. The numerical validation is performed by comparing the theoretical solution for the uniaxial and equibiaxial hencky deformation with numerical results. Moreover, the influence of the K‐BKZ constitutive model, for three linear time distribution of airflow rate loading, on the thickness and on the stress distribution in thermoforming of containers made of HDPE are analyzed.
