A soluble fraction of a chickenMusculus gastrocnemius muscle was used to characterize the catalyst of linoleate oxidation. Separation of the chicken muscle extract into low (free
metal) and high (protein) molecular weight fractions revealed that the molecular weight of the major catalyst of linoleate
oxidation in chicken muscle extract was greater than 700 daltons. Catalysis of linoleate oxidation by the protein fraction
exhibited a pH optimum of 5.9. Subjecting the protein fraction to heat treatments at increasing temperatures (30–90 C) decreased
the catalysis of linoleate oxidation. Addition of two mM EDTA had no effect on the catalysis of linoleate oxidation. Cyanide
(2 mM), glutathione (1 mM) and cysteine (1 mM) decreased the oxidation of linoleate by the protein fraction 21.0%, 22.9% and
29.0% respectively. Characterization of the oxidative catalyst in chicken muscle extract indicated that free metals and hemoproteins
contribute to overall catalysis of linoleate oxidation but are not the sole catalysts. Heat inactivation of the oxidative
catalyst and the observed pH optimum suggests that the unidentified catalyst is proteinacious and may be an enzyme. 相似文献

According to J. F. Dovidio and S. L. Gaertner's (1998) integrated model of racism, politically liberal European Americans tend to express racism differently than conservative European Americans, with liberals demonstrating aversive racism and conservatives, symbolic or modern racism. In support of the model, in Experiment 1 liberals showed bias in favor of a twice-prosecuted African American relative to a European American in their judgment of double jeopardy, whereas conservatives did the reverse. Experiment 2 replicated these effects while eliminating a confound in the design of Experiment 1. Experiment 3 found evidence for the intrapsychic conflict hypothesized to underlie aversive racism. Specifically, only liberals displayed greater physiological arousal to the touch of an African American versus a European American experimenter. Summary The essential oil obtained by steam distillation of cinchona bark (Cinchona spp.,Rubiaceae family) — a plant well known for its pharmacological properties, also employed in the food industry, especially in making liqueurs - was investigated. The oil, of completely unknown chemical composition, was analyzed by GLC and GLC/MS after separation on a silica gel column, and one hundred components were identified. The presence of 2-hexyl-3-methylmaleic anhydride is rather unusual.

Summary Poly(propylene oxide), PPO, obtained using diphenylzinc, Ph2Zn, and using the diphenylzinc-water system at various molar ratios H2O/Ph2Zn, were studied through 1H NMR and IR spectroscopy establishing that the polymerization initiates by coordition of propylene oxide (PO) to a terminal zinc atom of the active species followed by consecutive insertions of PO units at this zinc atom. As CMOS device dimensions scale down to 100 nm and beyond, the interface roughness between Si and SiO/sub 2/ has become critical to device performance and reliability. Si/SiO/sub 2/ interface roughness degrades channel mobility decreasing drive currents. The authors have used atomic force microscopy to study surface roughness in the processing of 0.16 /spl mu/m CMOS integrated circuits. All of the process steps that could potentially affect the interface roughness have been studied. The results show that oxidation is the major contributor to the interface roughness. The rms roughness is found to be linearly dependent on oxide thickness. Transistors with Si/SiO/sub 2/ interface rms roughness that has been reduced from 1.6 to 1.1 /spl Aring/ by reducing oxide thicknesses show improved device drive currents. This technique for interfacial smoothing and device performance improvement has the advantage of being easily implemented in today's technology. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: The chemical composition of Amazonian fish is extremely variable, being influenced by the season and the type and amount of food. A special interest in the fish oil composition has been developed owing to the presence of essential fatty acids, since this is directly related to human health. This study aimed to investigate the fatty acid composition (FAC) of the total lipid (TL), neutral lipid (NL) and phospholipid (PL) fractions of the dorsal muscle and orbital cavity of farmed and wild matrinxã in the Amazon area captured in different seasons. RESULTS: Fatty acids (FA) were analysed by high‐resolution gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Sixty‐five FA were detected in the TL, 66 in the NL and 55 in the PL. The main FA found in farmed and wild fish were oleic, palmitic, stearic and linoleic acids. No distinctions in the quality or quantity of these fractions between dorsal muscle and orbital cavity were found. CONCLUSION: The season had a significant influence on the TL and FAC. Fish captured during the dry season showed lower levels of lipid and a higher percentage of long‐chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. Matrinxã farmed in a semi‐intensive system showed a nutritional quality comparable to that of wild matrinxã captured in the wet season. Copyright © 2007 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献
