The efficiency of the good agricultural practices (GAP) protocol AGRO 2-1 & 2-2, in advancing microbiological-quality of tomatoes and peppers, was studied in greenhouses at Ierapetra, Crete, Greece. The 240 tested vegetables-samples, produced under AGRO 2-1 & 2-2, showed satisfactory quality: Listeria monocytogenes absent per 25 g; Escherichia coli < 20 Colony Forming Units per gram (CFU/g); total coliforms 4.37–4.68 log CFU/g; aerobic plate counts 5.78–5.92 log CFU/g. Based on actual results and practices evaluation, we conclude that AGRO 2-1 & 2-2 can reduce microbial hazards for consumers and furthermore can establish practices in compliance to basic Euro-Retailer-Produce GAP (EUREPGAP) requirements. 相似文献

Wear and corrosion are the most important factors that the surface of the engineering parts must confront. The need for protection and improvement of the mechanical characteristics of the surface of engineering parts can be to some extent satisfied by coatings. Coatings are considered as an excellent solution when resistance to corrosion, oxidation or low friction is demanded, but due the complexity of selecting the appropriate one, engineers often avoid them. The need for simultaneous consideration of qualitative and quantitative properties, render the use of classic material selection theories inadequate. An expert system for coating selection is presented in this paper, which can handle both qualitative and quantitative variables. The mathematical model used combines the multi-criteria decision making theories (MCDM) together with the fuzzy sets theory. The “Max-Min set” method is applied to calculate the ordering value of the alternatives while the TOPSIS method is used to rank them. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the method. Electricity storage systems (ESS) for bulk energy storage are principally used for load levelling purposes or for relieving the intermittency of renewables. Another use is electricity arbitrage through the rule of ‘buy low, sell high’. This operation tracks the market‐clearing price (MCP) profiles and produces profit by exploiting the differences between peak and off‐peak prices. The profits made in this way depend on technology characteristics and the market competition level. We investigate the influence of demand‐side management (DSM) on ESS profitability when the only income is from provision of electricity arbitrage services, by optimizing the time allocation of the charge and discharge operations. Two scenarios of DSM in the market have been selected for two management periods (MP): 1 day and 3 days. The longer MP is examined in order to investigate the potential for higher economic value when energy transfer to the next day is permitted. The key finding is that a very small load shifting from peaks to off‐peaks, due to DSM, significantly affects the ESS profit. The significant profit losses the ESS showed are a result of the high capital costs and the small difference of the peak and off‐peak electricity prices in the Greek market. Therefore, under the assumptions we have made for this research, any attempt to use ESS in ‘buy low, sell high’ operation is not profitable. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

The effect of spontaneous beat-to-beat mean arterial blood pressure fluctuations and breath-to-breath end-tidal CO2 fluctuations on beat-to-beat cerebral blood flow velocity variations is studied using the Laguerre-Volterra network methodology for multiple-input nonlinear systems. The observations made from experimental measurements from ten healthy human subjects reveal that, whereas pressure fluctuations explain most of the high-frequency blood flow velocity variations (above 0.04 Hz), end-tidal CO2 fluctuations as well as nonlinear interactions between pressure and CO2 have a considerable effect in the lower frequencies (below 0.04 Hz). They also indicate that cerebral autoregulation is strongly nonlinear and dynamic (frequency-dependent). Nonlinearities are mainly active in the low-frequency range (below 0.04 Hz) and are more prominent in the dynamics of the end-tidal CO2-blood flow velocity relationship. Significant nonstationarities are also revealed by the obtained models, with greater variability evident for the effects of CO2 on blood flow velocity dynamics. 相似文献

Multiscale quality assessment of Global Human Settlement Layer scenes against reference data using statistical learning 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A method for quality assessment of the Global Human Settlement Layer scenes against reference data is presented. It relies on two settlement metrics; the local average and gradient functions that quantify the notions of settlement density and flexible settlement limits respectively. They are both utilized as generalization functions for increasing the level of abstraction of the sets under comparison. Generalization compensates for inaccuracies of the automatic target extraction method and can be computed at multiple scales. The comparison between the target built-up layers and the reference data employs an ordered multi-scale, linear regression computing the goodness of fit measure R2. An optimized assessment procedure is investigated in a pilot study and is further employed in a big data exercise. A newly introduced quality metric returns the agreement between automatically extracted built-up from a set of 13605 scenes and the MODIS 500 urban layer, that was found too be as high as 91% for selected sensors. A final experiment attempts a performance increase at lower scales by correlating the target layer with automatically selected training subsets. At 50 m the adjusted R2 increases by 3% with a mean squared error improvement of 2% compared to the performance achieved without statistical learning. The experiment suggests that the GHSL assessment at a global scale can be carried out based on limited high resolution reference data of minimal spatial coverage. 相似文献

This paper presents a methodology for the assessment of the performance of industrial hazardous materials emergency plans. This approach is based on a structuro‐functional model of the emergency plan, which highlights the plan's functions, resources, support services and interactions. A resource taxonomy is used to manage the complexity of the emergency response system. The model can be used both as a planning guide and for the analysis of the performance of the emergency response system, based on the risk assessment of the system. The failure probability is estimated through the plan's functions and resources fault trees. The failure severity of each function is determined by using the facility's hazard study. Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer constitutes a highly lethal entity among malignancies in the last decades and is still a major challenge for cancer therapeutic options. Despite the current combinational treatment strategies, including chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, and targeted therapies, the survival rates remain notably low for patients with advanced disease. A better knowledge of the molecular mechanisms that influence tumor progression and the development of optimal therapeutic strategies for GI malignancies are urgently needed. Currently, the development and the assessment of the efficacy of immunotherapeutic agents in GI cancer are in the spotlight of several clinical trials. Thus, several new modalities and combinational treatments with other anti-neoplastic agents have been identified and evaluated for their efficiency in cancer management, including immune checkpoint inhibitors, adoptive cell transfer, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy, cancer vaccines, and/or combinations thereof. Understanding the interrelation among the tumor microenvironment, cancer progression, and immune resistance is pivotal for the optimal therapeutic management of all gastrointestinal solid tumors. This review will shed light on the recent advances and future directions of immunotherapy for malignant tumors of the GI system. 相似文献
