A thin adhesive sheet of encapsulated thermochromic liquid crystals (TLCs) is attached to a submerged plate, impinged by an ionic jet in an electrohydrodynamics experiment. In order to measure the local temperature and obtain the heat transfer coefficients on the plate, a proper calibration of the liquid crystals is needed. A colour can be expressed as a weighted combination of three attributes: hue, saturation and intensity. In TLCs, hue is a function of temperature in a narrow range. However, TLCs colour also depends on the angle under which a point on the sheet is viewed, as well as on the lighting conditions. Due to the particular specifications and inherent constraints of our experimental apparatus, the calibration procedure becomes fairly complicated. In fact, the digital camera for the acquisition of the colour pattern has to be positioned on the side of the sheet. Besides, the TLCs are non-uniformly lighted, including the presence of shadows. The relationship between the hue field and the temperature field on the plate is then obtained by means of a filtering and interpolation technique, as described in the paper. The overall accuracy of the developed technique is ±0.1 K.  相似文献

Thanks to their unique properties, as intrinsic conductivity and simple preparation, conducting polymers are highly applicable in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and biosensors. Pristine polymers often include residual precursors or other low molecular impurities, which have a negative impact on their biocompatibility. Concerning poly(4-aminodiphenylaniline), its cytotoxicity and biocompatibility have not yet been investigated. Herein, the cytotoxicity of poly(4-aminodiphenylaniline), prepared by an innovative green approach, as well as the effect of samples’ posttreatment and kind of dopant acid used, are reported for the first time. The results show that not only the type of used dopant but also polymers’ washing in phosphate saline buffer and material’s morphology has a significant impact on materials’ cytotoxicity. After a proper posttreatment or when salicylic acid is used as the doping agent the cytotoxicity of poly(4-aminodiphenylaniline) seem to be lower than those obtained for traditional PANI.  相似文献

The compressional behavior and the P‐induced deformation mechanisms at the atomic scale of (Cs,K)Al4Be5B11O28 (londonite, a ~7.31 Å and space group P3m) were investigated by in situ single‐crystal synchrotron X‐ray diffraction with a diamond anvil cell up to 26 GPa. No phase transition was observed within the P‐range investigated: this material exhibits isotropic compression (i.e., with cubic symmetry) in response to the applied pressure. Fitting the P–V data with a Birch‐Murnaghan isothermal equation of state, we obtained: V0=390.8(3) Å3, KP0=212(7) GPa (β0=1/KP0=0.0047(1) GPa?1) and K′=4.6(6). A series of structural refinements, based on the high‐pressure intensity data, were performed. The stiffness of londonite (similar to that of carbides) is governed by its close‐packing structure, and in particular by the very low compressibility of B‐ and Be‐tetrahedra and the modest compressibility of the Al‐octahedra. The Cs‐polyhedra are the most compressible units of the structure. The effects of pressure can be accommodated by intrapolyhedral compression or deformation, leading to a modest bulk compression. The high amount of boron in londonite (B2O3 ~50 wt%) makes its synthetic counterpart a potential neutron absorber. In addition, the high content of Cs makes londonite‐type materials as potential hosts for nuclear waste.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the environmental threat to benthic species from chemical weapons dumped in the southern Adriatic Sea. An ecotoxicological approach using chemical analysis and biological responses was applied, in two sentinel species: the Blackbelly rosefish Helicolenus dactylopterus and European conger Conger conger. Specimen were collected in a stretch of sea, where had been dumped war materials and from a reference site free of ordnance. Residues of yperite, Hg and As were measured in fish fillets. Skin, liver, kidney and spleen were examined for histopathological and macroscopical lesions. Liver detoxifying capacities (EROD and UDPGT) and genotoxicity (comet assay) were also investigated. As and Hg levels were three-four times higher than those from the reference site in both species (p < 0.001). Both species captured in dumping site showed clear signs of chronic illness according to the health assessment index (HAI). Deep ulcers and nodules were observed on skin and external organs. Histological lesions such as periportal and bile duct fibrosis, pericholangitis, steatosis, granuloma and elevated splenic MMCs were detected in liver and spleen. Significantly higher EROD activities were also found in both species from dumping site (p < 0.01). Comet assay revealed genotoxicty in gills of C. conger from dumping site, indicating uptake of chemical warfare agents through fish gills. European conger was found to be a more sensitive bioindicator of this type of contamination than the Blackbelly rosefish.  相似文献

Two non-commercial metallic Au-based complexes were tested against one of the most aggressive malignant melanomas of the skin (MeWo cells), through cell viability and time-lapse live-cell imaging system assays. The tests with the complexes were carried out both in the form of free metallic complexes, directly in contact with the MeWo cell line culture, and embedded in fibers of Polycaprolactone (PCL) membranes produced by the electrospinning technique. Membranes functionalized with complexes were prepared to evaluate the efficiency of the membranes against the melanoma cells and therefore their feasibility in the application as an antitumoral patch for topical use. Both series of tests highlighted a very effective antitumoral activity, manifesting a very relevant cell viability inhibition after both 24 h and 48 h. In the case of the AuM1 complex at the concentration of 20 mM, melanoma cells completely died in this short period of time. A mortality of around 70% was detected from the tests performed using the membranes functionalized with AuM1 complex at a very low concentration (3 wt.%), even after 24 h of the contact period. The synthesized complexes also manifest high selectivity with respect to the MeWo cells. The peculiar structural and morphological organization of the nanofibers constituting the membranes allows for a very effective antitumoral activity in the first 3 h of treatment. Experimental points of the release profiles were perfectly fitted with theoretical curves, which easily allow interpretation of the kinetic phenomena occurring in the release of the synthesized complexes in the chosen medium.  相似文献

In this research 12 different varieties of Capsicum cultivars belonging to three species (Capsicum chinense, Capsicum annuum, Capsicum frutescens) and of various colour, shape, and dimension have been characterised by their carotenoids and capsaicinoids content. The berries were cultivated in the region Emilia-Romagna, in Northern Italy. The native carotenoid composition was directly investigated by an HPLC-DAD-APCI-MS methodology, for the first time. In total, 52 carotenoids have been identified and considerable variation in carotenoid composition was observed among the various cultivars investigated. Among the cultivars with red colour, some Habanero, Naga morich and Sinpezon showed an high β-carotene content, whereas Serrano, Tabasco and Jalapeno showed an high capsanthin content and the absence of β-carotene. Habanero golden and Scotch Bonnet showed a high lutein, α-carotene and β-carotene amounts, and Habanero orange was rich in antheraxanthin, capsanthin and zeaxanthin. Cis-cryptocapsin was present in high amount in Habanero chocolate.  相似文献

In this study, the development and validation of a multiresidue method for the detection of 11 quinolones (marbofloxacin, norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, danofloxacin, lomefloxacin, enrofloxacin, sarafloxacin, difloxacin, oxolinic acid, nalidixic acid, flumequine) in muscle and eggs were reported. The method involved an extraction with a methanol/metaphosphoric acid mixture and a clean up by Oasis hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) cartridge. The validation was performed according to the Commission Decision 2002/657/EC. Linearity, specificity, decision limit (CCα), detection capability (CCβ), recovery, precision (repeatability and within-laboratory reproducibility), and ruggedness were determined. Depending on the analytes, CCα and CCβ ranged from 113 to 234 μg/kg and from 126 to 282 μg/kg in muscle samples, whereas in eggs, these parameters were between 5.6 and 7.4 μg/kg and between 6.1 and 9.8 μg/kg, respectively. In both the examined matrices, the recovery values were always higher than 90 % and precision, calculated as relative standard deviation, was equal to or lower than 16 % for repeatability and 23 % for within-laboratory reproducibility. The described method can be considered adequate for the simultaneous determination and quantification of quinolones in the tested food matrices.  相似文献

Mixtures of low density polyethylene/isotactic polypropylene (LDPE/iPP) 80/20 w/w were functionalized in the melt by using maleic anhydride (MAH) as the functionalizing agent, 2,5‐bis(tert‐butylperoxy)‐2,5‐dimethylhexane (L101) as the peroxide initiator and butyl 3‐(2‐furyl)propenoate (BFA) as a co‐agent suitable to prevent the degradation of iPP and to promote inter‐macromolecular reactions. The use of BFA was aimed at favouring the control of radical‐induced side reactions and the formation of interfacial graft copolymers. The functionalization degree and the modification of macromolecular architecture, which were evaluated by selective solvent extractions combined with IR, DSC and SEM analyses, were modulated by varying the L101/MAH/BFA ratio in the feed. The optimized product in terms of functionalization degree value and processability was successfully tested as compatibilizer in a polyolefin/polyvinylchloride mixture, where the polyvinylchloride component resulted from the management of waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A global computation model for self-wiping corotating twin screw extruders is proposed. Based on a ID approximated approach, it has been validated by comparison with experimentation and more sophisticated numerical models. It allows one to obtain, for any screw profile including left-and right-handed screw elements and kneading discs, the profile along the screws of the main flow variables, such as pressure, mean temperature, residence time, and filling ratio. Owing to the approximations made, this model can be easily and rapidly run on a personal computer or a workstation. Important applications may be found in screw profile design, scaleup, compounding or reactive extrusion.  相似文献
