Polycrystalline CdS/CdTe thin‐film solar cells in the superstrate configuration have been studied by spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) using glass side illumination. In this measurement method, the first reflection from the ambient/glass interface is rejected, whereas the second reflection from the glass/film‐stack interface is collected; higher order reflections are also rejected. The SE analysis incorporates parameterized dielectric functions ε for solar cell component materials obtained by in situ and variable‐angle SE. In the SE analysis of the complete cells, a step‐wise procedure ranks the fitting parameters, including thicknesses and those defining the spectra in ε, according to their ability to reduce the root‐mean‐square deviation between the simulated and measured SE spectra. The best fit thicknesses from this analysis are found to be consistent with electron microscopy. Based on the SE results, the solar cell quantum efficiency (QE) can be simulated without any free parameters, and comparisons with measured QE enable optical model refinements as well as identification of optical and electronic losses. This paper presents experimental results on the application of a new quadrature modulator compensator, which allows existing quadrature modulators to achieve near-ideal RF upconversion over a wide bandwidth. A test setup using an arbitrary waveform generator and a spectrum analyzer shows that over 70 dB of spurious-free dynamic range may be obtained over a bandwidth of 1.2 MHz using an off-the-shelf Mini Circuits in-phase/quadrature modulator operating at 895 MHz. A conventional compensator provides only 45 dB of sideband suppression in the same experimental setup.  相似文献

In this work we examine the positive bias temperature instability (PBTI) and stress induced leakage current (SILC) reliability of nFET devices with thin (2.5 nm) ZrO2 gate dielectric layers. nFET devices show anomalous PBTI behavior in the form of a negative threshold voltage (Vt) shift during positive bias stress with little temperature dependence and it is not ‘frozen out’ at lower temperatures, indicating a single non-diffusion based mechanism. Correlations between the PBTI and the stress induced leakage current (SILC) suggest that the PBTI effect originates from trapping into empty defects which are initially detected as SILC and located just below the silicon conduction band. These defects also appear to be linked to the time dependent dielectric breakdown behavior.  相似文献

An overview is given of the new IEEE 802.11n standard. This is the first wireless LAN standard based on MIMO-OFDM, a technique pioneered by Airgo Networks to give a significant performance increase in both range and rate relative to conventional wireless LAN. Performance results show that net user throughputs over 100 Mbps are achievable, which is about four times larger than the maximum achievable throughput using IEEE 802.11a/g. For the same throughput, MIMO-OFDM achieves a range that is about 3 times larger than non-MIMO systems. This significant improvement in range-rate performance makes MIMO-OFDM the ideal solution not only for wireless LAN, but also for home entertainment networks and 4G networks. Richard van Nee received the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Twente University in Enschede, the Netherlands, in 1990. In May 1995, he received the PhD degree from Delft University of Technology. From 1995 to 2000, he worked for Lucent Technologies Bell Labs on wireless LAN transmission techniques. He was one of the original proposers of the CCK and OFDM modulation techniques which were adopted by the IEEE 802.11b and IEEE802.11a wireless LAN standards. In 2001, he cofounded Airgo Networks that developed the first MIMO-OFDM modem for wireless LAN and which techniques form the basis of the IEEE 802.11n standard. Together with Ramjee Prasad, he wrote a book on OFDM, entitled ‘OFDM for Mobile Multimedia Communications.’ In 2002 he received the Dutch Veder award for his contributions to standardization of wireless communications.  相似文献

Telemedicine is a wide ranging subject which encompasses teleconsultation, electronic patient records, continuing medical education and public health information systems. Telemedicine will impact every aspect of health care delivery from remote clinical analysis and consultation between experts based in specialist hospitals, to teleconsultation as a substitute for physical referral between the GP and a hospital, and ultimately the remote delivery of medical monitoring and care into the h ome. Telepresence, where remote human expertise is transported by communications networks to a remote location, has its own unique place within the spectrum of telemedicine applications. This paper describes some of those applications of medical telepresence into which BT have been researching with various clinical partners.  相似文献

This paper develops a hybrid moment method (MM) based numerical model for electromagnetic scattering from large finite-by-infinite planar slot arrays. The model incorporates the novel concept of a physical basis function (PBF) to reduce dramatically the number of required unknowns. The model can represent a finite number of slot columns with slots oriented along the infinite axis, surrounded by an arbitrary number of coplanar dielectric slabs. Each slot column can be loaded with a complex impedance to tailor the array's edge currents. An individual slot column is represented by equivalent magnetic scattering currents on an unbroken perfectly conducting plane. Floquet theory reduces the currents to a single reference element. In the array's central portion, where the edge perturbations are negligible, the slot column reference elements are combined into a single basis function. Thus, one PBF can represent an arbitrarily large number of slot columns. A newly developed one-sided Poisson sum formula is used to calculate the mutual coupling between the PBF and the slot columns in the presence of a stratified dielectric media. The array scanning method (ASM) gives the mutual coupling between the individual slot columns. The hybrid method is validated using both numerical and experimental reference data. Adhesion of probiotic bacteria to intestinal epithelial cells is regarded as a prerequisite to exert beneficial health effects. Human intestinal epithelial lines, like Caco-2 or HT-29 cells, have been extensively used to select for adhesive strains in vitro. Adhesion to intestinal mucus has been used to a lesser extent. However, to date, there has been no standardization of the conditions used in in vitro adhesion assays. As a consequence, results obtained in different laboratories using identical strains, but different assay conditions, show great variability. This lack of standardization complicates the interpretation of data and discrepancies emerge on what is meant by effective adhesion. A critical validation of in vitro adhesion is essential for the food industry, using adhesion assays as predicitve screening tools to assess new probiotic strains. In this review we summarize a comparative study on adhesion of the well characterized probiotic bacteria L. johnsonii La1 and L. rhamnosus GG with respect to the influence of bacterial growth conditions, growth phase, buffer, pH, and mucus on adhesion properties. The results are employed in the current scientific discussion to allow a critical evaluation on the reliability of the in vitro assays.  相似文献
