The mechanical and physical properties of aluminum-matrix composites reinforced with high-performance continuous alumina fibers are reviewed and compared with those of other structural materials. Continuous-fiber reinforced aluminum-matrix compositesoffer outstanding improvements in specific strength and specific stiffness over conventional alloys and particulate composites. Thelongitudinal tensile strength of an aluminum matrix reinforced with 55–65 vol.% alumina fibers is in the range ofl.4-1.9 GPa, the longitudinal Young's modulus is 220–240 GPa, and the density is 3.2-3.4 g/cm3. The mechanisms of strengthening and fracture under longitudinal, transverse, and shear loading are reviewed. Examples of applications are presented that are representative of the range of product forms being developed.  相似文献

The radial basis function (RBF) centers play different roles in determining the classification capa- bility of a Gaussian radial basis function neural network (GRBFNN) and should hold different width values. However, it is very hard and time-consuming to optimize the centers and widths at the same time. In this paper, we introduce a new insight into this problem. We explore the impact of the definition of widths on the selection of the centers, propose an optimization algorithm of the RBF widths in order to select proper centers from the center candidate pool, and improve the classification performance of the GRBFNN. The design of the objective function of the optimization algorithm is based on the local mapping capability of each Gaussian RBF. Further, in the design of the objective function, we also handle the imbalanced problem which may occur even when different local regions have the same number of examples. Finally, the recursive orthogonal least square (ROLS) and genetic algorithm (GA), which are usually adopted to optimize the RBF centers, are separately used to select the centers from the center candidates with the initialized widths, in order to testify the validity of our proposed width initialization strategy on the selection of centers. Our experimental results show that, compared with the heuristic width setting method, the width optimization strategy makes the selected cen- ters more appropriate, and improves the classification performance of the GRBFNN. Moreover, the GRBFNN constructed by our method can attain better classification performance than the RBF LS-SVM, which is a state-of-the-art classifier.  相似文献

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide. The AKT pathway is often activated in HCC cases, and a longer exposure to tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as sorafenib may lead to over-activation of the AKT pathway, leading to HCC resistance. Here, we studied the efficacy of a new generation of allosteric AKT inhibitor, vevorisertib, alone or in combination with sorafenib. To identify specific adverse effects related to the background of cirrhosis, we used a diethylnitrosamine (DEN)-induced cirrhotic rat model. Vevorisertib was tested in vitro on Hep3B, HepG2, HuH7 and PLC/PRF cell lines. Rats were treated weekly with intra-peritoneal injections of DEN for 14 weeks to obtain cirrhosis with fully developed HCC. After that, rats were randomized into four groups (n = 7/group): control, sorafenib, vevorisertib and the combination of vevorisertib + sorafenib, and treated for 6 weeks. Tumor progression was followed by MRI. We demonstrated that the vevorisertib is a highly potent treatment, blocking the phosphorylation of AKT. The tumor progression in the rat liver was significantly reduced by treatment with vevorisertib + sorafenib (49.4%) compared to the control group (158.8%, p < 0.0001). Tumor size, tumor number and tumor cell proliferation were significantly reduced in both the vevorisertib group and vevorisertib + sorafenib groups compared to the control group. Sirius red staining showed an improvement in liver fibrosis by vevorisertib and the combination treatment. Moreover, vevorisertib + sorafenib treatment was associated with a normalization in the liver vasculature. Altogether, vevorisertib as a single agent and its combination with sorafenib exerted a strong suppression of tumor progression and improved liver fibrosis. Thus, results provide a rationale for testing vevorisertib in clinical settings and confirm the importance of targeting AKT in HCC.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of the influence of the microstructure of mortar on its mechanical behavior. For this purpose, mechanical tests have been carried out on mortars and a mathematical model, the (n + 1)-phase model, has been used to take into account three variable parameters of the microstructure of mortar (the thickness of the interfacial transition zone, the porosity gradient in the cement paste matrix and the nature of the constituents of the Interfacial Transition Zone) for some given parameters (volume fraction of aggregates, porosity of the mortar and mechanical behavior of the aggregates and the cement paste). By fitting some measured moduli to the model predictions, we can estimate in a non-destructive manner, the possible distribution of porosity within the Interfacial Transition Zone. Our results provide information on the data such micromechanical models can deal with in order to predict the elastic behavior of mortars.  相似文献

(In,Ga)As/GaP(001) quantum dots (QDs) are grown by molecular beam epitaxy and studied both theoretically and experimentally. The electronic band structure is simulated using a combination of k·p and tight-binding models. These calculations predict an indirect to direct crossover with the In content and the size of the QDs. The optical properties are then studied in a low-In-content range through photoluminescence and time-resolved photoluminescence experiments. It suggests the proximity of two optical transitions of indirect and direct types.  相似文献

Inhalation burns and laryngotracheal involvement were studied in a retrospective series of 635 patients hospitalized for skin burns at the Center for Burn Treatment from January 1993 to January 1997. Inhalation burns were observed in 31.1% of the cases. Exclusive laryngeal involvement occurred in 19.6% of the inhalation burns. Both tracheobronchial and laryngeal burns were observed in 27.2%. Patients with inhalation burns also had facial burns (90.9%) and extensive (> 50%) or severe (UBS > 200) skin burns in 39.8% and 29.7% of the cases respectively. Mortality of skin burns was increased six-fold to 19.1% in patients who also had inhalation burns. Intubation was used alone in 60.1% and was followed by tracheotomy in 27.2%. The decision for tracheotomy was essentially based on the probable duration of ventilatory assistance. Tracheotomy was required in case of severe inhalation burns and the predictable duration of intubation was over 8 days. Laryngotracheal stenosis occurring after inhalation burns is complex and extensive, with great variability over time. Laryngotracheal calibration is indicated as first intention therapy.  相似文献

1. Human alpha 1-acid glycoprotein (AAG), a plasma transport protein, has three main genetic variants. F1. S and A. Native commercial AAG (a mixture of almost equal proportions of these three variants) has been separated by chromatography into variants which correspond to the proteins of the two genes which code for AAG in humans: the A variant and a mixture of the F1 and S variants (60% F1 and 40% S). Their binding properties towards imipramine, warfarin and mifepristone were studied by equilibrium dialysis. 2. The F1S variant mixture strongly bound warfarin and mifepristone with an affinity of 1.89 and 2.06 x 10(6) l mol-1, respectively, but had a low affinity for imipramine. Conversely, the A variant strongly bound imipramine with an affinity of 0.98 x 10(6) l mol-1. The low degree of binding of warfarin and mifepristone to the A variant sample was explained by the presence of protein contaminants in this sample. These results indicate specific drug transport roles for each variant, with respect to its separate genetic origin. 3. Control binding experiments performed with (unfractionated) commercial AAG and with AAG isolated from individuals with either the F1/A or S/A phenotypes, agreed with these findings. The results for the binding of warfarin and mifepristone by the AAG samples were similar to those obtained with the F1S mixture: the mean high-affinity association constant of the AAG samples for each drug was of the same order as that of the F1S mixture: the decrease in the number of binding sites of the AAG samples, as compared with the F1S mixture, was explained by the smaller proportion of variants F1 and/or S in these samples. Conversely, results of the imipramine binding study with the AAG samples concurred with those for the binding of this basic drug by the A variant, with respect to the proportion of the A variant in these samples.  相似文献

This paper considers pre-impact vehicle maneuvers and analyzes the resulting driver motion from their comfort seating position. Part I of this work consisted of analyzing the driver behavior during a simulated crash in a car driving simulator. The configuration of the virtual accident led to an unavoidable frontal crash with a truck. The typical response to this type of emergency event was to brace rearward into the seat and to straighten the arms against the steering wheel, or, to swerve to attempt to avoid the impacting vehicle. In a turn crossover maneuvers, the forearm is directly positioned on the airbag module at time of crash. This position represents a potential injurious situation and is investigated in this Part II.Static airbag-deployment tests were realized in collaboration with Zodiac using conventional airbag (sewn cushion, pyrotechnical system and open event) and a Hybrid III 50th Male Dummy seated with the left arm positioned in the path of the deploying airbag. These experiments were numerically reproduced with Madymo® and the ellipsoid Hybrid III dummy model. The dummy arm interaction with airbag was correlated with experiments. Then, a numerical simulation of a frontal collision at 56 km/h was realized. The results of the computational runs put forward injurious situations when the driver's arm was in front of the steering wheel. Indeed, in this case, the arm could hit the head under airbag deployment and induced serious neck bending and violent head launching.To mitigate head and neck trauma in this out-of-position situation, an airbag prototype (bonded cushion, two pure helium cold gas generators allowing mono- or multi-stage inflating, patented silicone membrane) was proposed by Zodiac. The results of static airbag-deployment tests with conventional and prototype airbags showed a significant reduction of the maximum linear head acceleration and neck bending with airbag prototype when a dual stage inflating was ignited, due to a reduced ‘flinging’ of the arm.  相似文献

An isotachophoretic method has been developed for mobilizing and focusing bacteria. This allows quantification and detection of bacteria in a narrow zone. Very good linearity was obtained for Micrococcus lysodeikticus (also called Micrococcus luteus, studied as a model of Gram+ bacteria) in the range of 0.4 × 10(8) cells/mL to 2.9 × 10(8) cells/mL, with correlation coefficients for peak height and peak area as a function of cell concentration of 0.999 and 0.998, respectively. This method is usable on both bare and hydroxypropyl cellulose-coated fused silica capillaries. The best results were obtained using 13.6 mM Tris, 150 mM boric acid as terminating electrolyte, and 4.5 mM Tris, 50 mM boric acid, and 3.31 mM HCl as leading electrolyte. With a 33.5 cm ×100 μm i.d. capillary, short migration times were obtained while maintaining very low electrical current in order to minimize any Joule heating and lysis of the bacteria. A UV area imaging detector (ActiPix D100, Paraytec) was used with a 109 cm × 100 μm i.d. capillary having three loops and four detection windows to monitor the migration behavior of M. luteus and to show the stability of the zone of the focused bacteria along the capillary. Similar results were obtained for Erwinia carotovora (a model of Gram- bacteria), and for Enterobacter cloacae and Vibrio splendidus.  相似文献

The performance of a pilot solar Multi Effect Humidification (MEH) Desalination system in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, had been measured and analysed in detail by the ZAE Bayern since 1992. The investigated distillation units showed constant performance over several years without extensive maintanance. However the efforts towards further efficiency improvement by economic means pointed out the need of supplementing the system with a thermal storage tank. The distillation unit being the most expensive part of a desalination system has to be run 24 hours a day in order to be economic. A cost estimation for storage implementation yields the result, that cost reduction for the produced water by more than a half is possible. In April 1997 a desalination system with 24 hour thermal storage was built up in Sfax / Tunisia. The results of a short term measuring campaign at this site are presented here.For optimizing the ratio of sizes of thermal storage, collector field and distillation module a simulation tool for collector field and storage is developed at the ZAE Bayern. The simulation results of a combined laboratory distillation unit and storage system are presented.  相似文献
