Old-age Care Modes and Facility Planning Based on the Concept of “Continuum of Care”

Through the comparative analysis on the theories and practical experience of the development of old-age care (OAC) in both China and other countries,and based on the interview and questionnaire survey in Zhejiang Province and Hangzhou City,this paper proposes the research and analysis framework for the old-age service system,i.e.,"OAC mode-OAC service system-OAC facility system." The paper argues that,oriented by OAC mode of "taking community-and home-based care as the main body and institution-based care as supplement," China should build an OAC facility system and planning thoughts that take "continuum of care" as concept and long-term care system as core.Taking Zhejiang Province and Hangzhou City as examples,the paper conducts the optimization research on current OAC facilities planning in terms of hierarchical system,scale,and differentiation,so as to formulate more systematic and operable planning standards for OAC facilities.     

On Product Liability and Quality Control

Product liability is one of the most costly and confusing problems facing manufacturing today. In this paper, models of the economic impact of both final acceptance sampling and process control on liability risk due to a manufacturing defect are presented. A numerical example reveals that selection of cost-effective quality control methods depends on assumed disposition of rejected lots.     

Preference Trade-Offs In Capital Budgeting Decisions

Capital budgeting analysis may be characterized as an attempt to satisfy a set of potentially conflicting objectives. Corporate managers may be faced with multiple and conflicting objectives. The wide-spread acceptance of prioritized objectives in capital budgeting has stimulated the adoption of pre-emptive goal programming models. This paper presents a procedure to model a goal programming based capital budgeting model as a polynomial expression where inter-and intra-goal trade-offs can be achieved subject to the marginal rates of substitution between preference levels.     

Sizing Storage Facilities For Open Pit Coal Mines

This paper develops a general procedure to size storage facilities for open pit coal mines. More particularly, the paper presents (1) deterministic models for estimating working stock requirements, and (2) simulation models in the SLAM language which can be used to analyze safety stock requirements. The design procedure is illustrated using data similar to that experienced by a mine in Wyoming's Powder River Basin.     

A Generalized Multimachine Replacement Model for Flexible Automation Investments

In this paper a multiperiod replacement model is developed in the context of an incremental implementation of flexible automation investments. Resource allocation for cognitive WLAN over fiber

In this paper,a novel WLAN system,Cognitive WLAN over Fiber (CWLANoF),is introduced in the first place.Moreover,when CWLANoF has more channels than STAs,a new channel allocation scheme is proposed using the Hungarian algorithm,which is demonstrated to be the optimal one.Furthermore,when CWLANoF has fewer channels than STAs,it is possible for more than one STA to share the same channel simultaneously based on the new features of CWLANoF.And the power control scheme is proposed for this kind of sharing,considering efficiency and fairness.Finally,extensive simulation results illustrate the significant performance improvement of the proposed channel allocation scheme and power control scheme.
