Three-dimensional (3D) spring-like carbon nano-coils were obtained in high purity (nearly 100%) and high yield (20%) by the catalytic pyrolysis of acetylene at 750-790 °C using an Fe-based catalyst; 54Fe-38Cr-4Mn-4Mo or 71Fe-18Cr-8Ni-3Mo (SUS513). The morphologies and microstructure were examined in detail, and the growth mechanism is also discussed. The diameter of carbon fiber, from which the carbon nano-coils was formed, was 50-200 nm, the coil diameter 100-1000 nm, and the coil pitch 10-500 nm. The nano-coils were generally grown by a mono-directional growth mode, and laces with various morphologies were very commonly observed on the surface. It was observed that the spring-like carbon nano-coils are actually composed of two fused nano-coils.  相似文献

A nanocrystalline nickel film was prepared by an electroplating method in a constantly agitated ternary system of dense carbon dioxide (CO2) and electroplating solution using a surfactant. The averaged grain size of the plated Ni film was 11.1 nm. In contrast, a nickel film prepared from an electroplating solution by a conventional method without the use of surfactant had an average grain size of about 19.8 nm. The Vickers hardness of the film obtained by the new method was about 680 Hv, while that prepared from the electroplating solution alone was only about 550 Hv. As a consequence, it can be deduced that grain-size strengthening was observed in the electroplated film obtained using this emulsion system.  相似文献

Toward the revision of 93Nb data in the Japanese Evaluated Nuclear Data Library JENDL-4.0, we calculated cross sections for metastable state production (MSP) in the (n, γ), (n, n′), (n, 2n) and (n, 3n) reactions in the incident energy (En) range from 7 keV to 20 MeV. The cross sections were evaluated using nuclear reaction models such as the spherical optical model, the multi-step statistical model, preequilibrium models, and the distorted-wave Born approximation (DWBA). By adjusting parameters of nuclear level densities, we could obtain the MSP cross sections which are almost consistent with the experimental data.  相似文献

Acid maltase deficiency (AMD) causes a lysosomal glycogenosis inherited as an autosomal recessive trait. The infantile type of AMD (Pompe disease) leads to early death due to severe dysfunction of cardiac and respiratory muscles and no effective therapy is available. Replication-defective adenovirus vectors offer a promising tool for in vivo gene delivery and gene therapy. We constructed a recombinant adenovirus containing the human acid maltase (AM) cDNA downstream of the CAG promoter, composed of modified chicken beta-actin promoter and CMV IE enhancer (AxCANAM). Japanese quail with AMD was used for this study as an animal model for human AMD. When cultured fibroblasts from AMD quail were infected with AxCANAM, AM activity in the cells increased in proportion to the multiplicity of infection (MOI). When AxCANAM (4.5 x 10(8) PFU) was injected into unilateral superficial pectoral muscle of AMD quail, PAS staining showed that glycogenosomes disappeared and stainability of acid phosphatase was reduced in the injected area as compared with the contralateral muscle of the same birds. Biochemically, AM activity increased and glycogen content decreased in the injected muscle. Western blot analysis showed that AMD quail muscle injected with AxCANAM expressed human AM protein processed to active forms. These results suggest that the human AM cDNA transferred by an adenovirus vector was sufficiently expressed, leading to a marked reduction of the glycogen accumulation in the skeletal muscle of AMD quail.  相似文献

Abstract— A prototype ballistic electron surface‐emitting display (BSD) was fabricated on a TFT or PDP glass substrate by using a low‐temperature process. A 84 × 63‐pixel, 7.6‐in.‐diagonal full‐color BSD shows excellent performance, comparable to the previously reported 2.6‐in. model. We have investigated phospholipid requirement for testosterone 5 alpha-reductase solubilized from microsomal and nuclear fractions of rat epididymis. The 5 alpha-reductase from microsomal fraction was stimulated by phosphatidylcholine (PC) with long acyl-chain lengths, but inhibited by short chain PC. The nuclear enzyme activity was weakly activated by PC with various acyl-chain lengths tested. Synthetic phosphatidylserine (PS), such as dioleoylPS, most strongly stimulated the microsomal enzyme activity, but did not exhibit any activation of the nuclear enzyme activity. Endogenous phospholipids, such as PC, PS, and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) separated from bovine epididymal microsomes were tested for their stimulatory effects on microsomal and nuclear enzymes. Among these endogenous phospholipids, PS most greatly stimulated the microsomal 5 alpha-reductase activity, whereas both PC and PE weakly activated the enzyme activity. On the other hand, endogenous PC and PS had no ability to support the nuclear enzyme activity. The fatty acid compositions of PC and PS from bovine epididymal microsomes were determined, in order to elucidate the relationship between 5 alpha-reductase activation by these phospholipids and the structure of their acyl chains. The relative content of fatty acids in PC, in a decreasing order, was palmitate > linoleate > oleate; that in PS was stearate > oleate > palmitate. Based on these observations, the roles of microsomal PS and PC in epididymal 5 alpha-reductase reaction will be discussed.  相似文献

A method for measuring the tensile strength of whiskers with a diameter of micrometer order has been devised. The method allows us to measure the tensile load in the range of 20 to 1500 mgwt with an accuracy of about 1 mgwt under optical microscope observation. Young's modulus of the whiskers can also be measured. Some examples of measurements are presented.  相似文献

The menstrual and premenstrual experiences of black Zimbabwean women were examined. Twenty-five professional women and twenty-five domestic workers were interviewed using semistructured, open-ended interviews designed to explore their experiences. An analysis of consensual data indicated a number of predominant themes, including secrecy associated with menstruation, the negativity surrounding menarche, the breakdown of the traditional family network that passes on information about menstruation, and the acceptance of menstrual cycle experiences by the women. The main differences between the two groups concerned explanations of the functions and purpose of menstruation and the reporting of physical and affective symptoms. These differences are suggestive of the impact of educational level on experiences of menstruation.  相似文献

Arsenicals are epidemiologically significant chemicals in relation to induction of liver cancer in man. In the present study, we investigated the dose-dependent promotion potential of dimethylarsinic acid (DMAA), a major metabolite of inorganic arsenicals in mammals, in a rat liver carcinogenesis model. In experiment 1, glutathione-S-transferase placental form (GST-P)-positive foci, putative preneoplastic lesions, were employed as endpoints of a liver medium-term bioassay for carcinogens (Ito test). Starting 2 weeks after initiation with diethylnitrosamine, male F344 rats were treated with 0, 25, 50 or 100 ppm of DMAA in the drinking water for 6 weeks. All animals underwent two-thirds partial hepatectomy at week 3 after initiation. Examination of liver sections after termination at 8 weeks revealed dose-dependent increases in the numbers and areas of GST-P-positive foci in DMAA-treated rats as compared with controls. In experiment 2, ornithine decarboxylase activity, which is a biomarker of cell proliferation, was found to be significantly increased in the livers of rats treated with DMAA. In experiment 3, formation of 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine, which is a marker of oxygen radical-mediated DNA damage, was significantly increased after administration of DMAA. These results indicate that DMAA has the potential to promote rat liver carcinogenesis, possibly via a mechanism involving stimulation of cell proliferation and DNA damage caused by oxygen radicals.  相似文献
