Recent advances in semantic image analysis have brought forth generic methodologies to support concept learning at large scale. The attained performance however is highly variable, reflecting effects related to similarities and variations in the visual manifestations of semantically distinct concepts, much as to the limitations issuing from considering semantics solely in the form of perceptual representations. Aiming to enhance performance and improve robustness, we investigate a fuzzy DLs-based reasoning framework, which enables the integration of scene and object classifications into a semantically consistent interpretation by capturing and utilising the underlying semantic associations. Evaluation with two sets of input classifiers, configured so as to vary with respect to the wealth of concepts’ interrelations, outlines the potential of the proposed approach in the presence of semantically rich associations, while delineating the issues and challenges involved.  相似文献

Stability of undrained shearing in a classical Cauchy continuum has been first analyzed by Rice (J Geophys Res 80(11):1531–1536, 1975) who showed that instability occurs when the underlying drained deformation becomes unstable (i.e. in the softening regime of the corresponding drained stress-strain curve). However Vardoulakis (Int J Numer Anal Methods Geomech 9:339–414, 1985; Int J Numer Anal Methods Geomech 10:177–190, 1986) has shown that Rice’s linear stability analysis, if performed at the state of maximum deviator, leads to a sharp transition from infinitely stable to infinitely unstable behaviour, which indicates that the solution of the considered initial-value problem does not exist and consequently that the corresponding problem is mathematically ill-posed. Vardoulakis (Géotechnique 46(3):441–456, 1996; Géotechnique 46(3):457–472, 1996) proposed a regularization of the ill-posed problem in the softening regime by resorting to a second grade extension of plasticity theory. In this paper, the kinetics of a granular material is described by a Cosserat continuum as first suggested by Mühlhaus and Vardoulakis (Géotechnique 37:271–283, 1987) and we incorporate the effect of shear heating due to the dissipation of the frictional work. The undrained adiabatic limit is applicable as soon as the slip event is sufficiently rapid and the shear zone broad enough to effectively preclude heat or fluid transfer as it is the case during an earthquake or a landslide. It is shown that shear heating has a destabilizing effect and that instability can occur in the hardening regime if the amount of dilatant strengthening is not sufficient as compared to the effect of thermal pressurization of the pore fluid. It is shown that the linear stability analysis with macro and micro inertia terms leads to the selection of a preferred wave length of the instability mode corresponding to the instability mode with fastest (but finite) growth coefficient.  相似文献

In this paper, a Delay Tolerant Network environment is considered where the source is in full control of the two-hop spreading mechanism by setting key parameters such as the number of copies allowed to be spread in the network and the delay bound of the messages. The introduced analysis allows for a differentiation between the source of the message and the intermediate nodes (in terms of e.g. transmission power, speed or cooperation degree). Analytical expressions for the cumulative distribution function (cdf) of the delivery delay and the induced overhead are extracted, taking into account the fact that the source node may continue spreading copies after the message delivery. In addition, a fairly accurate approximate expression for the cdf of the delivery delay is also derived and validated through simulations.  相似文献

A simplified nonlinear stability analysis for moderately large rotations and small strains is performed on a rectangular two-bar frame subjected to a concentrated eccentrically applied joint load. Such a simplification consisting of adopting linear kinematic relations leads to very reliable results for the initial postbuckling path in the vicinity of the critical point of the above imperfect frame. The existence of an asymmetric bifurcation point is thoroughly discussed and a direct evaluation of the bifurcational load is readily obtained. Using this technique the effect of imperfection sensitivity is also addressed. A qualitative analysis associated with the physical phenomenon yields a substantial reduction of the computational work. The efficiency and reliability of this approximate nonlinear stability analysis proposed herein is illustrated by means of several examples for which a lot of numerical results based on a more accurate nonlinear analysis are available.  相似文献

Although corn and rice waste can be hardly classified among the most hazardous waste, their treatment is very important in view of the great volume of waste materials involved. In this review article, an update is provided for most of the waste treatment techniques (composting, pyrolysis, gasification, combustion) used to alter the physical, chemical or biological character of the waste, to reduce its volume and/or toxicity and to make the waste safer for disposal. Furthermore, all current and potential uses of treated corn and rice waste such as fertilisers, biomass and biogas/biofuel are summarised. Four comprehensive tables and six figures provide a thorough presentation of both waste treatment methods (characteristics, advantages and disadvantages) and uses of treated corn and rice waste.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of human-action recognition by introducing a sparse representation of image sequences as a collection of spatiotemporal events that are localized at points that are salient both in space and time. The spatiotemporal salient points are detected by measuring the variations in the information content of pixel neighborhoods not only in space but also in time. An appropriate distance metric between two collections of spatiotemporal salient points is introduced, which is based on the chamfer distance and an iterative linear time-warping technique that deals with time expansion or time-compression issues. A classification scheme that is based on relevance vector machines and on the proposed distance measure is proposed. Results on real image sequences from a small database depicting people performing 19 aerobic exercises are presented.  相似文献

The task-oriented nature of data mining (DM) has already been dealt successfully with the employment of intelligent agent systems that distribute tasks, collaborate and synchronize in order to reach their ultimate goal, the extraction of knowledge. A number of sophisticated multi-agent systems (MAS) that perform DM have been developed, proving that agent technology can indeed be used in order to solve DM problems. Looking into the opposite direction though, knowledge extracted through DM has not yet been exploited on MASs. The inductive nature of DM imposes logic limitations and hinders the application of the extracted knowledge on such kind of deductive systems. This problem can be overcome, however, when certain conditions are satisfied a priori. In this paper, we present an approach that takes the relevant limitations and considerations into account and provides a gateway on the way DM techniques can be employed in order to augment agent intelligence. This work demonstrates how the extracted knowledge can be used for the formulation initially, and the improvement, in the long run, of agent reasoning.  相似文献

Four supported catalysts with the same tungsten loading were prepared by depositing decatungstate species W10O4−32, through wet impregnation, on the surface of γ-alumina and silica at different pH values. The prepared samples were characterized using BET measurements as well as XRD, UV–vis DR, and XP spectroscopies. Higher dispersion of W(VI) oxo-species was obtained in the silica-supported catalysts compared with the corresponding alumina-supported ones. Within the same support, the dispersion was higher when the impregnation pH is lower than the point of zero charge (pzc) of the support. The decatungstate anions were present mainly on the silica surface without any modification, whereas these underwent a partial depolymerization on their deposition on the γ-alumina surface. The extent of depolymerization was less in the sample prepared at pH above pzc. These findings were explained in terms of the mode of deposition of the W(VI) species from the solution onto the support surface. The photocatalytic activity of the aforementioned catalysts, concerning the photooxidation of 1-phenylethanol, depends on the fraction of the W10O4−32 supported species rather than on the W(VI) dispersion. Thus, extremely high conversions have been obtained over the silica-based catalysts and also over the γ-alumina-based catalyst prepared at relatively high pH. These catalysts also are very effective in the photooxidation of a series of secondary and primary benzyl alcohols, in which benzyl ketones and benzoic acids were formed as the only or major products, respectively. The easy separation of the solid catalyst from the reaction mixture, the high activity, selectivity, and stability as well as the retained activity in subsequent catalytic cycles, make these supported catalysts suitable for a small-scale synthesis. Based on product analysis and kinetic data on the heterogeneous oxidation of benzyl alcohols, we suggest that a hydrogen abstraction transfer (HAT) mechanism predominates with respect to an electron transfer (ET) one in these reactions.  相似文献
