Three new complexes, [Zn(dbsf)2(dmf)2] · 5.5dmf (dbsf = 4,4′-sulfonyldibenzoate) (1β), [Cu(tdsa)(phen)2] · 1.5EtOH (tdsa = 5,5′-thiodisalicylate, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) (2), and [Cu(sdp)(phen) · Cu(Hsdp)(phen)(CH3COO)] · 3EtOH (sdp = 4,4′-sulfonyldiphenolate) (3) were prepared and structurally characterized. Complex 1β shows a one-dimensional coordination framework constructed from bridges between Zn(II) centers with two ligands. Complex 2 is a monomeric complex, which assembles by π–π interactions. Complex 3 shows a unique two-dimensional coordination framework that is constructed from two Cu(II) centers, sdp, and Hsdp. The redox properties of these three complexes were characterized by solid-state cyclic voltammetry. Complexes 1β and 3 show irreversible reduction waves because of the reduction of their sulfone sites. Complex 2 shows an irreversible oxidation wave because of oxidation of the sulfide site. 相似文献

Background
Epidemiological studies suggest that inhalation of carbonaceous particulate matter from biomass combustion increases susceptibility to bacterial pneumonia. In vitro studies report that phagocytosis of carbon black by alveolar macrophages (AM) impairs killing of Streptococcus pneumoniae. We have previously reported high levels of black carbon in AM from biomass smoke-exposed children and adults. We therefore aimed to use a mouse model to test the hypothesis that high levels of carbon loading of AM in vivo increases susceptibility to pneumococcal pneumonia.Methods
Female outbred mice were treated with either intranasal phosphate buffered saline (PBS) or ultrafine carbon black (UF-CB in PBS; 500 μg on day 1 and day 4), and then infected with S. pneumoniae strain D39 on day 5. Survival was assessed over 72 h. The effect of UF-CB on AM carbon loading, airway inflammation, and a urinary marker of pulmonary oxidative stress was assessed in uninfected animals.Results
Instillation of UF-CB in mice resulted a pattern of AM carbon loading similar to that of biomass-smoke exposed humans. In uninfected animals, UF-CB treated animals had increased urinary 8-oxodG (P = 0.055), and an increased airway neutrophil differential count (P < 0.01). All PBS-treated mice died within 72 h after infection with S. pneumoniae, whereas morbidity and mortality after infection was reduced in UF-CB treated animals (median survival 48 h vs. 30 h, P < 0.001). At 24 hr post-infection, UF-CB treated mice had lower lung and the blood S. pneumoniae colony forming unit counts, and lower airway levels of keratinocyte-derived chemokine/growth-related oncogene (KC/GRO), and interferon gamma.Conclusion
Acute high level loading of AM with ultrafine carbon black particles per se does not increase the susceptibility of mice to pneumococcal infection in vivo. 相似文献73.
Silica (SiO2)‐crosslinked polystyrene (PS) particles possessing photofunctional N,N‐diethyldithiocarbamate (DC) groups on their surface were prepared by the free‐radical emulsion copolymerization of a mixture of SiO2 (diameter = 20 nm), styrene, divinyl benzene, 4‐vinylbenzyl N,N‐diethyldithiocarbamate (VBDC), and 2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate with a radical initiator under UV irradiation. In this copolymerization, the inimer VBDC had the formation of a hyperbranched structure by a living radical mechanism. The particle sizes of such core–shell structures [number‐average particle diameter (Dn) = 35–40 nm] were controlled by the variation of the feed amounts of the monomers and surfactant, or emulsion system. The size distributions were relatively narrow (weight‐average particle diameter/Dn ≈ 1.05). These particles had DC groups on their surface. Subsequently, poly(methyl methacrylate) brush encapsulated SiO2 particles were synthesized by the grafting from a photoinduced atom transfer radical polymerization approach of methyl methacrylate initiated by SiO2‐crosslinked PS particles as a macroinitiator. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have characterized the gene encoding fatty acid α-hydroxylase, a cytochrome P450 (P450) enzyme, from Sphingomonas paucimobilis. A database homology search indicated that the deduced amino acid sequence of this gene product was 44% identical to that
of the ybdT gene product that is a 48 kDa protein of unknown function from Bacillus subtilis. In this study, we cloned the ybdT gene and characterized this gene product using a recombinant enzyme to clarify function of the ybdT gene product. The carbon monoxide difference spectrum of the recombinant enzyme showed the characteristic one of P450. In
the presence of H2O2, the recombinant ybdT gene product hydroxylated myristic acid to produce β-hydroxyristic acid and α-hydroxymyristic acid which were determined
by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The amount of these products increased
with increasing reaction period and amount of H2O2 in the reaction mixture. The amount of β-hydroxyl product was slightly higher than that of α-hydroxyl product at all times
during the reaction. However, no reaction products were detected at any time or at any concentration of H2O2 when heat-inactivated enzyme was used. HPLC analysis with a chiral column showed that the β-hydroxyl product was nearly enantiomerically
pure R-form. These results suggest that this P450 enzyme is involved in a novel biosynthesis of β-hydroxy fatty acid. 相似文献

为了提高可塑料的抗冻结能力,以粒度为6~3、3~1、≤1 mm的焦宝石(w(Al2O3)>45%,w(SiO2)<52%)和粒度≤45μm的黏土(w(Al2O3)>26%,w(SiO2)<65%)为原料,加入硫酸铝溶液、水和乙二醇防冻液制备出防冻型黏土质可塑料.将试样放入零下15℃的试验箱中冷冻,在室温下放置至室温,再经110℃干燥和1 000℃热处理后,分别测试试样的线变化率、抗折强度、耐压强度和体积密度,并与常温20℃下放置的试样的各项性能加以比较.结果表明:试样经过110℃和1 000℃热处理后,普通可塑料试样在零下15℃冻结后的强度比正常未冻结试样的下降约20%,而防冻型可塑料与正常试样相比,在强度方面几乎没有改变. 相似文献

There has been an increasing prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases with the rapid increase in aging societies worldwide. Biomarkers that can be used to detect pathological changes before the development of severe neuronal loss and consequently facilitate early intervention with disease-modifying therapeutic modalities are therefore urgently needed. Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a promising tool that can be used to infer microstructural characteristics of the brain, such as microstructural integrity and complexity, as well as axonal density, order, and myelination, through the utilization of water molecules that are diffused within the tissue, with displacement at the micron scale. Diffusion tensor imaging is the most commonly used diffusion MRI technique to assess the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases. However, diffusion tensor imaging has several limitations, and new technologies, including neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging, diffusion kurtosis imaging, and free-water imaging, have been recently developed as approaches to overcome these constraints. This review provides an overview of these technologies and their potential as biomarkers for the early diagnosis and disease progression of major neurodegenerative diseases. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to clarify the epidemiological association and bacteriological characteristics of human and animal Staphylococcus aureus isolates. Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis showed that pulsotypes (PT) of isolates from bulk milk differed from PT from human isolates, suggesting that there is no epidemiological association between isolates from these 2 sources. The absence of a common PT could result from the lack of contact between the sources. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus from human secretions and S. aureus from bulk milk in Japan consisted of 1 and 2 dominant clusters, respectively, whereas methicillin-susceptible S. aureus from humans consisted of assorted clusters. Isolates belonging to the dominant clusters showed the coagulase serotype, the capsule serotype, detection of exotoxin genes, and antimicrobial susceptibility. Isolates from bulk milk did not show the penicillin-binding protein 2a gene, and 252 of 275 isolates belonging to the 2 dominant clusters of bulk milk were susceptible to ampicillin, cefazolin, erythromycin, chloramphenicol, oxacillin, and vancomycin. Moreover, the LukM/LukF′-PV leukotoxin gene was detected in 233 of 275 isolates belonging to the dominant clusters in bulk milk isolates. These results support the hypothesis that a number of factors play a role in the adaptation of S. aureus isolates to specific hosts. 相似文献

The development of the microstructure in nanocrystalline, polycrystalline and epitaxial Pd films loaded with hydrogen is investigated. Structural changes in Pd films loaded with hydrogen were characterized by positron annihilation spectroscopy combined with electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. It was found that hydrogen charging causes plastic deformation which leads to an increase of the defect density in all Pd films studied. Moreover, the formation of buckles was observed in nanocrystalline and polycrystalline Pd films loaded above a certain critical hydrogen concentration. Buckling leads to detachment of the film from the substrate and this is accompanied with in-plane stress relaxation and plastic deformation of the film. 相似文献

A fluidized-bed membrane reformer was operated in two independent laboratories to map various operating conditions, to investigate the effects of changing the composition of the natural gas feed stream and to verify earlier experimental trials. Two feed natural gases were tested, containing either 95.5 or 90.1 mol% of methane (3.6 or 9.9 mol% of other gaseous higher hydrocarbons). Experimental tests investigated the influence of total membrane area, reactor pressure, permeate pressure and natural gas feed rates. A permeate-H2-to reactor natural gas feed molar ratio >2.3 was achieved with six two-sided membrane panels under steam reforming conditions and a pressure differential across the membranes of 785 kPa. The total cumulative reforming time reached 395 h, while hydrogen purity exceeded 99.99% during all tests. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: It is widely accepted that red wines constitute one of the most important sources of dietary polyphenolic antioxidants. However, it is still not known how some variables such as variety, vintage, country of origin, and retail price are associated with the antioxidant activity and sensory profile of South American red wines. In this regard, 80 samples produced in Brazil, Chile and Argentina were assessed in relation to their sensory properties, color and in vitro antioxidant activity, and results were subjected to multivariate statistical techniques. RESULTS: Samples were grouped in clusters, characterized by high, intermediate and low in vitro antioxidant activity, sensory properties and prices. It was possible to observe that wines with high antioxidant activity were associated to high retail prices and overall perception of sensory quality. CONCLUSION: South American wines produced from Vitis vinifera such as Syrah, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon had higher in vitro antioxidant activity and also higher sensory quality than wines produced from Vitis labrusca. This result was independent of vintage (2002‐2010), corroborating the idea that the same grape varietal, even when produced in different years, displays similar sensory characteristics and antioxidant activity.
