Summary In this article, we describe the synthesis of a PMMA-g-PDMS graft copolymer via a miniemulsion process. A highly hydrophobic PDMS macromonomer was copolymerized in the presence of MMA. Latex particles were obtained with a high yield and a complete incorporation of the macromonomer by using AIBN as initiator, SDS as a surfactant and a PMMA-b-PEO block copolymer as a cosurfactant, with a given amount of methanol in order to reduce the interfacial tension. The characterization of the resulting latex by 1H NMR and QELS evidenced the interest of such a process in order to copolymerize monomers with very different solubilities and to obtain directly a graft copolymer in aqueous dispersion. A main advantage of the reference-calibration method is the use of the standard references with the scale values to establish the relationship between sensory and instrumental data which is then used to predict sensory attributes of unknown samples. This study was conducted to predict tenderness perception using instrumental methods through a reference-calibrated model. Chicken breast fillets deboned at 9 different times were cooked and instrumentally tested by a compression test. The fillets were also evaluated by 7 trained panelists. Three different psychophysical models were employed to correlate reference scores with the peak forces and to predict tenderness. The results showed that the Stevens and Beidler models fitted well the peak forces to the reference scores. After calibration, the models were used to predict tenderness scores for all the fillets. This study implied that references could be used to calibrate not only panelists but also instruments for predicting tenderness perception.  相似文献

A full three-dimensional (3D) study of a compression test on a sample made of stone wool is presented. The analysis combines different tools, namely X-ray microtomography of an in situ experiment, image acquisition and treatment, and volume correlation. This set of tools allows for the measurement of 3D displacement fields and enables Poisson’s ratio of this type of material to be evaluated. The strain fields are used to analyze localization phenomena. The uncertainty of the analysis is evaluated by actually moving the sample in its undeformed and deformed states, qualifying both image acquisition and correlation steps.  相似文献

The authors developed a model on optical guided structures with complex refractive indices, on 9 desktop-computer. This model allows to predict the coupling efficiency of photodetectors monolithically integrated with optical waveguides. An oscillatory behaviour of the absorption coefficient versus the absorbing layer thinkness has been pointed out. As integrated circuits scale down into nanometer dimensions, a great reduction on the reliability of combinational blocks is expected. This way, the susceptibility of circuits to intermittent and transient faults is becoming a key parameter in the evaluation of logic circuits, and fast and accurate ways of reliability analysis must be developed. This paper presents a reliability analysis methodology based on signal probability, which is of straightforward application and can be easily integrated in the design flow. The proposed methodology computes circuit’s signal reliability as a function of its logical masking capabilities, concerning multiple simultaneous faults occurrence.  相似文献

Controller synthesis for general linear temporal logic (LTL) objectives is a challenging task. The standard approach involves translating the LTL objective into a deterministic parity automaton (DPA) by means of the Safra-Piterman construction. One of the challenges is the size of the DPA, which often grows very fast in practice, and can reach double exponential size in the length of the LTL formula. In this paper, we describe a single exponential translation from limit-deterministic Büchi automata (LDBA) to DPA and show that it can be concatenated with a recent efficient translations from LTL to LDBA to yield a double exponential, ‘Safraless’ LTL-to-DPA construction. We also report on an implementation and a comparison with other LTL-to-DPA translations on several sets of formulas from the literature.

In this paper, we present the PolyMAX module which enhances network simulator 2 (ns-2), the most popular network simulator used in academia, to provide one of the most complete simulation tools to evaluate the performance of Mobile WiMAX networks. PolyMAX is based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) module and our specific contributions consist on the design and implementation of the Quality of Service (QoS) classes and QoS management messages, the uplink access grant-request mechanisms, Adaptive Modulation and Coding, and a scheduler handling all five WiMAX QoS classes. We also present validation results for the different components of our module and typical WiMAX simulation scenarios illustrating its flexibility and some of its features. The PolyMAX module represents an important tool enabling researchers to easily implement their Mobile WiMAX scheduling and Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) algorithms and accurately evaluate their performance for realistic scenarios.  相似文献

This paper aims at building a method to estimate the probability law governing the 3D fracture density of a fractured rock conditioned to the number of traces observed on a borehole image when the spatial distribution of fracture centers is assumed to follow a Poisson process. A closed-form expression of this law, allowing to calculate its mean value as well as a confidence interval, is derived in both cases of a lineic well (scanline) and a cylindrical well. The latter is better adapted to the situation of fracture size of the same order of magnitude as the well radius, which enables the presence of partial traces. In particular, the method takes into account the bias in the density estimate due to the fact that a fracture may cut the well along two distinct traces according to the considered fracture size. Monte Carlo simulations finally show a good agreement with the theoretical results of mean density and confidence interval.  相似文献
