A micropower detector chip integrated with CMOS technology has been developed for a hand-held heart rate monitoring instrument mainly used by professional athletes and others who exercise seriously to increase their endurance and overall performance. The chip uses linear bandpass filtering and threshold detection and is implemented with analog switched-capacitor (SC) and digital techniques. The bandpass filter transfer function is derived from the spectral contents of noisy ECG signals. The layout was designed in full custom style in order to minimize the silicon area. The chip achieves a detection rate of 90% with a simulated ECG signal corrupted with Gaussian noise (signal-to-noise ratio = 5) in the heart rate range 60-200 1/min with a total current consumption of less than 30µA from a 3-V supply. The detection rate is 96.9% for a noisy signal obtained from the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database.  相似文献

The purpose of this work is to demonstrate how α-methylstyrene (AMS) can replace styrene in preparing styrene–butadiene (SB) type latexes and to compare the properties of the paper coating of the prepared α-methylstyrene–butadiene emulsion with the commercial styrene–butadiene latex reference sample. A lot of work is nowadays being conducted on different biorefinery concepts replacing fossil oil with biomass based raw materials due to the expected rise of the fossil oil cost. Aromatics can in principle be produced from renewable raw materials, such as lignin, sugars and terpenes for example. The potential methods include thermochemical conversions, catalytic fast pyrolysis, metabolic engineering, catalytic aromatisation and dehydrogenation among others. Terpenes, such as α-limonene and pinene, are possible sources of aromatics, and they can indeed be catalytically converted to p-cymene. Industrial hydrodealkylation and disproportionation processes developed by major petrochemical companies can further convert p-cymene to BTX aromatics or simultaneously dehydrogenate the alkyl chain of p-cymene to styrenic monomers such as α-methylstyrene. Based on the measured paper properties for uncalendered and calendered coated samples, AMS proved to be adequate to replace the oil based styrene in commercial reference SB latexes. Even though the emulsion polymerisation for the α-methylstyrene–butadiene latex was not optimised, almost all tested properties were at least equally good as in the commercial reference sample. α-Methylstyrene containing coating colours had slightly higher viscosity than the other coating colours. Coating colours containing α-methylstyrene seems to have an improved water retention compared to the commercial reference styrene–butadiene latex coating colour and the laboratory prepared styrene–butadiene coating colour. The paper coated with the commercial reference latex containing coating colour was less porous than the other coated papers. Despite of that, both dry and wet surface strength were at least equally good as in the case of the commercial reference latex. The results are promising when thinking of the future development of the bio-based latexes.  相似文献

The results of the present investigation reveal that 2-methyltetrahydrofuran is a potential solvent for the extraction of levulinic acid from dilute aqueous solution. This conclusion is based on the relatively high values of distribution coefficient Kd (1.3-1.6) measured for the system of levulinic acid – water – 2-methyltetrahydrofuran at temperatures 298.2 K, 313.2 K, and 328.2 K, as well as encouraging performance of the continuous counter current Kühni column. The results give reason to believe, that 2-methyltetrahydrofuran can be considered for the extraction of other low molecular weight acids, such as formic or lactic acid, as well.  相似文献

Hordatines are phenolic secondary metabolites typical of barley. Hordatines withstand at least moderate processing, and thus they are also found in barley malts and beer. So far, no published data on the hordatine content has been available in beers or different styles of beer. The aim of this study was to produce information on the total hordatine content in beers and statistically compare the hordatine content of different beer types. In the current study, hordatines were analysed in 208 beers by high‐performance liquid chromatography equipped with a diode array detector (HPLC‐DAD). The average total hordatine content of all beer samples was 5.6 ± 3.1 mg L?1 as p‐coumaric acid equivalents (PCAE), with a minimum values 0 to a maximum value 18.7 mg L?1 PCAE. The total hordatine content correlated positively to the alcohol content in lagers, ales, stouts and porters, but not in wheat beers. There was no statistically significant difference in hordatine content in different types of beer, excluding the non‐alcoholic group of beers. It is noteworthy that non‐alcoholic beers also contained hordatines. More research would be needed to understand how parameters, such as mashing, should be chosen in order to achieve maximum recovery of hordatines in wort and beer.  相似文献

An open source subcatchment generator program was developed for the Stormwater Management Model (SWMM) to automate tedious stages in the model construction process. The generator divides the investigated area into subcatchments using a uniform computation grid and connects the grid cells together and to the underlying stormwater network. The system was tested by applying it to two small urban catchments with different fractions of impervious surfaces in Helsinki, Finland, using mostly openly available data. The simulated discharge results were compared to measured data and to results obtained from manually built models. The proposed system significantly accelerated the setup of a SWMM modelling project, as the routing between the subcatchments as well as the subcatchment slopes and flow widths were directly derived from the computation grid. Automatically generated and manually constructed SWMM models produced discharge results that differed only slightly from each other.  相似文献

The integration of different energy systems, e.g., industrial and municipal, is potentially important for the efficient utilization of energy. It is important that the tools for analysing this type of integration can handle the energy systems on different levels, e.g., regional, site, plant and process levels. In this work, a framework for investigating the cost-efficient integration of large-scale energy systems is presented and tested at the UPM-Kymmene Kaukas pulp and paper plant and in the municipality of Lappeenranta, Finland. In addition to the different levels, the framework also aims to take into account several sub-problems, e.g., fuel logistic, optimal heat exchanger network and overall efficiency versus flexibility. The case in question shows that the presented framework can be used as a systematic tool for analysing the potential of integrating large energy systems and that it is able to handle both the synthesis of flexible heat exchanger networks and analyse the cost-efficiency of changes to the existing systems.  相似文献

Reported is the fabrication and investigation of surface reliefs on cleaved facets of optical fibres using nanoimprint lithography. The prepared structures are diffractive elements and arrays of holes with sub-wavelength feature sizes. The results obtained indicate that nanoimprint lithography affords opportunity to miniaturise optical devices at low fabrication costs, replacing free-space optical elements  相似文献
