The interaction of relativistic electrons with terawatt femtosecond laser pulses is reviewed with emphasis on how the scattering process can be used as a source of ultrashort X-ray pulses and as a time-resolved diagnostic for measuring transverse and longitudinal phase space distributions of an electron beam with microns spatial and subpicosecond temporal resolution. Recent experimental results are presented in which 90° Thomson scattering was utilized to generate 300 fs duration pulses of X-rays with peak energy of 30 keV. It is shown that, through analysis of the scattered X-ray beam properties, transverse and longitudinal distributions of the electron beam can be obtained  相似文献

Transparent conducting Cd1−xSnxS thin films have been synthesized by radio frequency magnetron sputtering technique on glass and Si substrates for various tin concentrations in the films. X-ray diffraction studies showed broadening of peaks due to smaller crystal size of the Cd1−xSnxS films, and SEM micrographs showed fine particles with average size of 100 nm. Sn concentration in the films was varied from 0% to 12.6% as determined from energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. The room-temperature electrical conductivity was found to vary from 8.086 to 939.7 S cm−1 and corresponding activation energy varied from 0.226 to 0.076 eV. The optimum Sn concentration for obtaining maximum conductivity was found to be 9.3%. The corresponding electrical conductivity was found to be 939.7 S cm−1, and the mobility 49.7 cm2 V−1 s−1. Hall measurement showed very high carrier concentrations in the films lying in the range of 8.0218×1018–1.7225×1020 cm−3. The conducting Cd1−xSnxS thin films also showed good field emission properties with a turn on field 4.74–7.86 V μm−1 with variation of electrode distance 60–100 μm. UV–Vis–NIR spectrophotometric studies of the films showed not needed the optical band gap energy increased from 2.62 to 2.80 eV with increase of Sn concentration in the range 0–12.6%. The optical band gap was Burstein–Moss shifted, and the corresponding carrier concentration obtained from the shift also well matched with that obtained from Hall measurement.  相似文献

We report on the design and performance of a fix-tuned /spl times/2/spl times/3/spl times/3 frequency multiplier chain that covers 1.55-1.75THz. The chain is nominally pumped with 100mW at W-band. At 120K the measured output power is larger than 4/spl mu/W across the band with a peak power of 100/spl mu/W at 1.665THz. A similar chain operated at room temperature produced a peak power of 21/spl mu/W. These power levels now make it possible to deploy multipixel heterodyne imaging arrays in this frequency range.  相似文献

The effect of adjacent channel interference on the frequency modulated wavelength division multiplexing (FM-WDM) optical communication system is analyzed in this paper. This system uses injection-locked optical discriminator at the output for the demodulation of FM channels. Adjacent channel interference results in crosstalk in the FM-WDM communication system which has been calculated. Dependence of crosstalk on the channel spacing, received signal power in a particular channel, and linewidth enhancement factor of the slave laser incorporated in the optical discriminator has been numerically investigated. The injection-locked discriminator has a typical output crosstalk level of -50 dB for a channel spacing of 100 GHz with optical injection level of -30 dB into the slave laser and is a suitable subsystem to be used in FM-WDM communication system  相似文献

The maximum optical-absorption cross section of Cr2+ ions was evaluated from near-infrared (NIR) absorption spectroscopy and direct measurements of the chromium concentration in Cr2+:CdSe crystals. The emission lifetime of the excited state, 5E, of Cr2+ was measured as a function of Cr2+ concentration in the 2×1017 −2×1018 ions/cm3 range and as a function of temperature from 77–300 K. Lifetime values were as high as ∼6 μs in the 77–250 K range and decreased to ∼4 μs at 300 K because of nonradiative decays. Assuming that most of the Cr dopant is in the Cr2+ state, an optical-absorption cross section σa of (1.94±0.56) × 10−18 cm2 was calculated. Implications for laser performance are discussed.  相似文献

A jaw-like bis-porphyrin (bis-TPP) molecule was synthesized anchoring of two porphyrin molecules to a benzene ring at the meta positions through the ester linkage. The bis-TPP molecule and its zinc-derivative (Zn-bis-TPP) were spin-coated on glass surfaces to construct two chemiresistive room temperature NH3 gas sensors. Both the films showed high selectivity, reproducibility and reversibility in sensing NH3 gas (5–40 ppm) in air. The sensing characteristics of the Zn-bis-TPP films (response (2 s) and recovery (2.5 min) times; linear response (952%)) were better than that of the bis-TPP films (response (8 s) and recovery (7.5 min) times; linear response (131%)). This is attributed to the amorphous nature of the former.  相似文献

A Globally Asynchronous, Locally Synchronous (GALS) system with dynamic voltage and frequency scaling can use the slowest frequency possible to accomplish a task with minimal power consumption. With the mechanism for implementing dynamic voltage scaling at each synchronous domain left up to the designer, our Globally Asynchronous, Locally Dynamic System (GALDS) provides a top-down, system-level means to maximize power reduction in an integrated circuit and facilitate system-on-a-chip (SoC) design. Our solution includes three distinct components: a novel bidirectional asynchronous FIFO to communicate between independently clocked synchronous blocks , an all-digital dynamic clock generator to quickly and glitchlessly switch between frequencies and a digitally controlled oscillator to generate the global fixed frequency clocks required by the all-digital dynamic clock generator. In addition to being capable of reducing power consumption when combined with dynamic voltage scaling, a GALDS design benefits from numerous other advantages such as simplified clock distribution, high performance operation and faster time-to-market through the modular nature of the architecture.  相似文献

Evolutionary computational techniques have been employed judiciously in various signal processing applications of late. In this paper, such an attempt has been made to design a low-pass linear-phase multiplier-less finite duration impulse response (FIR) filter using differential evolution (DE) algorithm. This particular evolutionary optimization technique has been explored to search the impulse response coefficients of the FIR filter in the form of sum of power of two (SPT) in order to avoid the multipliers during design process. The performance of the designed low-pass filter has been studied thoroughly in terms of its frequency characteristics and primitive requirement of fundamental hardware blocks. The superiority of our design has been ascertained over a number of existing techniques by various means. Finally, the proposed filter of different lengths has been implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA) chip for evaluating the competency of this work. The percentage improvement in hardware complexity produced by our design has also been computed and clearly listed in this paper for convenience.  相似文献

Interest in the development of new generation injectable bone cements having appropriate mechanical properties, biodegradability, and bioactivity has been rekindled with the advent of nanoscience. Injectable bone cements made with calcium sulfate (CS) are of significant interest, owing to its compatibility and optimal self-setting property. Its rapid resorption rate, lack of bioactivity, and poor mechanical strength serve as a deterrent for its wide application. Herein, a significantly improved CS-based injectable bone cement (modified calcium sulfate termed as CSmod), reinforced with various concentrations (0–15%) of a conductive nanocomposite containing gold nanodots and nanohydroxyapatite decorated reduced graphene oxide (rGO) sheets (AuHp@rGO), and functionalized with vancomycin, is presented. The piezo-responsive cement exhibits favorable injectability and setting times, along with improved mechanical properties. The antimicrobial, osteoinductive, and osteoconductive properties of the CSmod cement are confirmed using appropriate in vitro studies. There is an upregulation of the paracrine signaling mediated crosstalk between mesenchymal stem cells and human umbilical vein endothelial cells seeded on these cements. The ability of CSmod to induce endothelial cell recruitment and augment bone regeneration is evidenced in relevant rat models. The results imply that the multipronged activity exhibited by the novel-CSmod cement would be beneficial for bone repair.  相似文献

Plastic collapse moment (PCM) equations of throughwall axially cracked (TAC) elbow subjected to in-plane closing/opening bending moment were previously proposed by the present authors. However, in actual situation, an elbow may often be subjected to combined internal pressure and bending moment loading. The present work investigates the effect of internal pressure on the in-plane plastic collapse moment of throughwall axially cracked elbows through 3-D elastic-plastic finite element analysis. Equations of un-pressurized cases are recommended where it is conservative and in other cases new equations are proposed.  相似文献
