The linear analysis of capillary instability of the cylindrical interface between two viscous, incompressible fluids confined in a concentric annulus in the presence of heat and mass transfer is carried out. The viscous correction for the viscous potential flow theory is used for the investigation. Both fluids are taken as incompressible and viscous with different kinematic viscosities. To study the effect of shearing stresses, viscous pressure in the normal stress balance is included along with irrotational pressure. It is observed that heat and mass transfer has a stabilizing effect on the stability of the system and this effect enhances in the presence of irrotational shearing stresses. A comparison between viscous potential flow (VPF) solution and viscous correction for the viscous potential flow (VCVPF) is made and it is found that the VCVPF solution is more stable than the VPF solution.  相似文献

With a view to develop conducting polymer film of high electroactivity, pentacyanonitrosylferrate (PCNFe) doped polypyrrole (PPY) composite films are prepared using cyclic voltammetry deposition method. The PPY–PCNFe composite is characterized by FTIR, TEM and TGA analysis. The electroactivity of PPY–PCNFe composite film is studied in 3 mM KCl (common electrolyte) solution. Two redox pairs at E1/2 = ?0.59 V and 0.02 V due to redox behavior of polymer and dopant anions respectively are observed. The electroactivity study reveals the existence of two types of PCNFe dopant anions in the polymeric film: one form is loosely held and prone to easy removal from the polymer matrix whereas the other form is strongly bound to polymer backbone and prone to electrochemical redox reaction by movements of electrons. The high electroactivity of the film is attributed to the movements of ionic species into and out of the polymeric film as well as movements of electron.  相似文献

Due to the nonlinear nature of the inter-particle contact, granular chains made of elastic spheres are known to transmit solitary waves under impulse loading. However, the localized contact between spherical granules leads to stress concentration, resulting in plastic behavior even for small forces. In this work, we investigate the effects of plasticity in wave propagation in elasto-plastic granular systems. In the first part of this work, a force–displacement law between contacting elastic-perfectly plastic spheres is developed using a nonlinear finite element analysis. In the second part, this force–displacement law is used to simulate wave propagation in one-dimensional granular chains. In elasto-plastic chains, energy dissipation leads to the formation and merging of wave trains, which have characteristics very different from those of elastic chains. Scaling laws for peak force at each contact point along the chain, velocity of the leading wave, local contact and total dissipation are developed.  相似文献

In this study, a series of poly(acrylamide‐co‐acrylic acid‐co‐2‐hydroxy ethyl actylate) [AM‐co‐AA‐co‐HEA] hydrogels have been synthesized by varying the acrylic acid (AA)content over eightfold in feed in the range of 33.34–93.76% by keeping other monomer constant. These hydrogels were characterized by FTIR, SEM analysis, elemental analysis, residual acrylic acid analysis, network parameters, and dynamic swelling behavior. The swelling study showed that equilibrium swelling ratio was nonlinearly increased with increasing AA content. Interestingly, the equilibrium swelling ratio decreased from 53.42 to 48.52 for 75–80% AA content hydrogel. The swelling data were found to satisfactorily fit Fick's second law, demonstrating that diffusion rate of water uptake was primarily Fickian. From model fitting, it was observed that early model was applicable for first 30% water absorption, and late model was applicable for latter 70% water absorption for increasing AA content from 33.34–90.90%. For 93.76% AA, early‐time model was extended up to first 50% of water absorption and late model was contracted for latter 50% water absorption, indicating that excessive AA content affects the applicability range of early‐time and late‐time diffusion models for water absorption. Computationally efficient equivalent isotropic relative permittivity of the multilayer microstrip line on the uniaxial anisotropic substrate for 0 < w/h ≤ 10, anisotropic ratio0.5 ≤ n ≤ 3.0. Model has accuracy 0.5% against the full-wave method. It computes effective relative permittivity and characteristic impedance of microstrip on composite anisotropic substrates with deviation 4.5% respectively against the EM- software HFSS. Dispersion in multilayer anisotropic substrate microstrip up to mm wave range with high accuracy against the results of HFSS. The proposed models could be incorporated in the computer aided design for development of the components on the uniaxial anisotropic substrates.  相似文献

Preparation of multiferroic BiFeO3(BFO) is reported using microwave heating. The prepared sample is characterized using x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and leakage current measurements. It is observed that the BFO can be prepared with microwave heating at a fast heating rate, consisting of more homogeneous microstructure and better electrical properties. Phase purity of the sample is confirmed from x-ray diffraction measurements. Uniform grain size distribution is observed for the sample prepared with microwave heating. More than an order of magnitude reduction in the leakage current is observed for the sample prepared with microwave heating as compared to conventional radiant heating.  相似文献

Structural, dielectric and ferroelectric properties of polycrystalline BaTiO3 (BTO) ceramics prepared with hybrid sintering i.e., microwave assisted radiant heating (MARH) are reported. It is observed that the permittivity (ε) and true switched ferroelectric charge density (QSW) of BTO ceramics can be enhanced by employing MARH. An enhancement of 58% in ε and 17% in QSW is observed for the BTO sample prepared with 30% microwave power applied during MARH as compared to the conventional radiant heating. The results are explained in terms of microstructure resulting from the microwave assisted sintering.  相似文献

We evaluated radiolabeled liposomes (liposomes labeled both with 99mTc and 111In) for the early detection of osteomyelitis in an experimental model. METHODS: Liposomes, containing 5% polyethylene glycol-distearoyl phosphatidylethanolamine with encapsulated glutathione and deferoxamine, were prepared and labeled with 99mTc and 111In by a previously described method. Acute osteomyelitis was induced in male New Zealand rabbits by intramedullary injection of sodium-morrhuate and Staphylococcus aureus in the tibial bone marrow. Serial imaging studies, consisting of radiolabeled liposome imaging (2-4 mCi 99mTc and 75-125 microCi 111In), 99mTc-methylene diphosphonate (MDP) (3-5 mCi) and 67Ga-citrate (500 microCi), were performed starting at the third day after injection. Each radionuclide study was separated by at least 2 days. The animals also underwent radiography of the lower extremities. The animals were then killed and the infected tibia was excised for histopathology. RESULTS: For interpreting relative efficacy of individual radiopharmaceuticals, only animals showing positive histopathological findings (n = 9) were considered. Radiographs (Days 12, 13) were conclusive for osteomyelitis in only 3 rabbits. Radiolabeled liposome imaging (Days 4-6) showed positivity in 8 cases and was equivocal in 1. Though the lesion could be delineated as early as 8 hr postinjection in the 99MTc window, the best target-to-nontarget ratio (T/NT) of 1.86 +/- 0.19 was obtained at 48 hr in the 111In window. Three-phase 99mTc-MDP scan (Day 7) was positive in only 5 rabbits with 3 hr T/NT of 1.6 +/- 0.23. Galium-67-citrate images (Days 9-11) were positive in 8 cases and equivocal in 1, the mean 48 hr T/NT being 1.74 +/- 0.24. These results show liposomes are better than 99mTc-MDP for imaging bone infection. Given the early localization and better quality of the images, radiolabeled liposomes also exhibited advantages over 67Ga-citrate for detection of acute osteomyelitis.  相似文献
